Wednesday, February 3rd, Jenny Tracy gives up-to-date information about the COVID-19 vaccine for Lemhi County. CVS pharmacy released vaccines to Idaho, which means there is a surplus of vaccines, and that will give an extra 150 vaccines for today on top of the already 150 being administered today. Jenny gives information about how the process that was rolled out last Friday has changed for 65 and older residents to get the COVID-19 vaccine.

November 11th, Jenny Tracy from Steele Memorial Medical Center started Voice of the Valley with a huge thank you to Veterans for Veterans Day. Jenny also gave a COVID-19 update for Lemhi County. She also talked about the vaccine developed by Pfizer that has been in the news this week, and told us that Steele Memorial Medical Center has been put on the list to receive the vaccine when it does become available. Jenny also answered frequently asked questions related to COVID-19.
On Friday, the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare added 1,330 new cases and 9 new deaths to its statewide total, setting yet another record for new daily cases. That brings the statewide total to 70,909 known cases and 680 deaths. Today’s numbers show 307 new cases in Ada County, 143 in Twin Falls County, 116 in Kootenai County, and 100 in Canyon County. The Post Register reports that the Eastern Idaho Public Health board moved Lemhi County into the critical risk level of their coronavirus response plan yesterday, after increasing case numbers in recent weeks and stress on the local hospital. The critical risk designation does not come with any additional restrictions. The board also voted to remove its mask mandate for Custer County, though that could be reinstated if cases there begin to rise again.

Friday, November 6th, Chris Born, Superintendent of Salmon Schools was on Voice of the Valley to give an update on Salmon Schools. Mr. Born gives a recap of the Salmon School Board meeting from earlier in the week and an overview of the plan the board came up with. Mr. Born also gave information from EICAP's latest meeting, part of which put Lemhi County into the red risk level category for COVID. He also explains what the "red" risk level means for Lemhi County and how we can move out of that category.
Wednesday, November 4, Jenny Tracy from Steele Memorial Medical Center gives an update on COVID for Lemhi County. Jenny Tracy answers many frequent questions from people in the community and also goes over proper quarantine measures.
Keven Butler discusses the upcoming Friends of NRA banquet. It will be held Saturday, October 17th. Friends of NRA is an organization that promotes shooting sports. It is not a political organization. Tickets to the banquet are sold out, but you can still get on the waiting list. You can also support by becoming a sponsor. Taylor Smith with the 4-H club discusses 4-H month this October. More 4-H leaders are needed. On October 14th at 6 p.m. there will be a leader recruitment night at the Salmon Extension Office. Jenny Tracy with the Steele Memorial Medical Center talks about their Brake for Breakfast event. $1500 was raised to support the Lemhi County Custer Cancer Fund. Lemhi County has 19 active cases currently. There is a mask mandate in place.
Coleen Phelps with the Salmon School District discusses their backpack program. They provide kids who need extra food on the weekend with a backpack of food for the weekends. High school kids volunteer to pack three dinners and three breakfasts and snacks for each backpack. For the full month of October, Alliance Title is running a campaign for the backpack fund. They are collecting non-perishable kid-friendly food at Alliance Title. Sarah van Daalen and Jon Paul discuss the Bollywood workshop hosted by the Salmon Arts Council. The free teen workshop will be from 4:30-5:30 on Thursday at Backstage Dance. Wednesday at 5:30 in Savage gym there will be an adult workshop available. On Friday, two more adult workshops will be hosted at Backstage Dance. For those adult workshops, a $10 is asked of those who attend. Jenny Tracy with SMMC gives the weekly COVID-19 update. Lemhi County is currently at 26 active cases and has a mask mandate. She also discusses breast cancer awareness.

Brake for Breakfast is held in honor of breast cancer awareness. Tracy also discusses child passenger safety and the importance of effective, safe car seats.

By Monday, 9/28, Born anticipates the school will mandate masks, take student temperatures, and social distance when possible. Nep Lynch, Jim Bob Infanger, and Bill Allen discuss the Lynch Center. The Lynch Center is coming along well and is estimated to be done by the end of spring, depending on the weather. Fred Snook gives the weekly penalty box update.
Sheri Miller and Barb Fisher with Lemhi After School Promise discuss their program. It is open enrollment time for the Lemhi After School Promise. This program is available for children in Kindergarten through fifth grade. The program runs after school until 6:15 and on Fridays from 9 am to 1 pm. Chris Born, Salmon School District superintendent, discusses the changes at the SSD schools based on the moderate-risk categorization of Lemhi County. If you enter the schools, you need to be wearing a face mask unless you can socially distance at least 6 feet apart. The school district is in need of substitute teachers and bus drivers. If you become a substitute, you will be compensated for your work. Homecoming has been postponed for two weeks.

Andy, a registered ER nurse, talks about SMMC's stroke program. Andy discusses the signs of a stroke and the urgency to act quickly when it comes to strokes. The lineup of rodeo talent has never been to this caliber in Lemhi County, including multiple world champions and NFR contestants. Because so many rodeos in the area have been canceled, Salmon is set to see talent from far and wide join our ranks for the weekend. Extra sanitizing and safety precautions will be taken in order to keep spectators as safe as possible. If you aren't feeling well, you are asked to stay at home rather than come to the rodeo.

Chris Born with the Salmon School District discusses the postponing of school openings two weeks to September 14th. This affects any schools in Salmon School District #291. As long as Lemhi County is still classified as moderate risk, or "yellow," classes in Salmon School District #291 will start in person on September 14th. Masks will be mandated, social distancing will be followed, and the school will be regularly cleaned and sanitized. Sports will still be going on during this time. However, spectators will not be allowed at sporting events until Lemhi County is "green." In the meantime, KSRA will attempt to cover as many events as possible on-air. If a student or staff member gets COVID, then the school district may move towards a hybrid model, depending on a variety of factors. Lemhi County, as of 8/12, is in the minimal risk category for COVID-19. However, is is predicted that Lemhi County will soon move to moderate risk. If/when Lemhi County is classified as moderate risk, Eastern Idaho Public Health will give the county guidance.

Nose and mouth face coverings are now required in Lemhi County in public spaces, indoor or outdoor, when social distancing measures cannot be met. Social distancing of at least six feet must be maintained between people in separate households. Tracy also discusses exceptions to the mask mandate. Mayor Leo Marshall clears up rumors about "secretive city council meetings." Taylee Matthews discusses her senior project. She has created a closet at the high school for students in need who need clothes throughout the school year. She will be collecting donations for clothing for kids ages 12-18. Lemhi County currently has 4 active cases, all of which are being closely monitored. Custer County currently has 0 active cases. To date, SMMC has tested 516 people total. Russ Chinski and Brianne Greene with the Salmon Whitewater Park visit Voice of the Valley to talk about the progress of the whitewater park. Though it is a large cost to build a whitewater park, an anonymous donor is donating up to $800,000 at a 4-1 match. The Salmon Whitewater Park hopes to raise $200,000 by fall 2021 and put the whitewater park in the east channel of the Salmon River between the walking bridge and the highway bridge. The winner of the raft raffle is also drawn. Chris Born and Jeremy Burgess update listeners on school district news. As of 8/3, the Salmon schools are planning to reopen as normal. As long as Lemhi County stays in the minimal risk category of Covid, sports will also continue as normal. Pioneer construction is completed. The only renovation left is the new high school bleachers.

Shawna Troughtron with Salmon River Spokes and Chrome announces that the Spokes and Chrome Car Show has been canceled this year. In lieu of the car show, there will be a Show and Shine Saturday, August 1st from 9-5 at the Island Park pavilion. This will be a free event where you can come, bring your cars, look at others, and socialize. Salmon Search and Rescue will be serving a by-donation hot dog lunch starting at 11:30. The Lemhi County total positive COVID-19 cases is now at 4. Eastern Idaho Public Health reports that District 7 has 118 active COVID-19 cases. Bonneville County has 54 positive cases and there are 28 active cases in Madison County. Jenny Tracy advises avoiding the Boise, Missoula, and the Idaho Falls and Rexburg area if possible. Tracy asks listeners to please continue to wash your hands, wear a mask when possible, and social distance when possible. Tracy also discusses sports physicals for student athletes going into grades 9 and 11. They will be available July 21st and August 4th from 3-5 p.m. at the Steele Memorial Clinic. Tracy says that there it will take months of observation to see what the trends of COVID-19 are. Tracy also reminds listeners to take advantage of delivery and pick-up options at stores if you are immunocompromised. Ron Adams with American Legion discusses American Legion updated. American Legion was able to put American flags up for Memorial Day at the burial sites of veterans. On the 28th of June will be an American Legion breakfast. The tables will be regularly sanitized and some additional health precautions will be taken.

Jessica McAleese with the Lemhi County Farmers Market tells listeners that the Lemhi County Farmers Market is opening Saturday, June 6th, and will continue to be open every Saturday through September. It is open from 9-2. She asks that everyone who visits the farmers market wears a cloth mask, practices social distancing, and makes sure they aren't feeling sick. Chuck Marks with the Forest Service discusses reopenings. Recreation sites are opening in alignment with the governer's reopening phases. Public restrooms in recreation areas are open. There is a sanitation schedule in place for public areas and bathrooms.

There has also been an increase in trash and litter. Stuebner encourages people to leave no trace and pack out any trash or materials they bring outdoors with them.
