The Milwaukee Bucks have just one preseason game left before embarking on their first season with Damian Lillard and Giannis Antetokounmpo in tow, so Ti Windisch of the Gyro Step and Adam McGee of the Win in 6 podcast decided to map out how the rotation could and should look around Milwaukee's new star duo. After discussing the Dame and Giannis partnership initially, the conversation shifted to Malik Beasley locking down the starting shooting guard spot, how the big rotation will work with Brook Lopez, Bobby Portis, Robin Lopez, Jae Crowder, and of course Giannis in tow, what Khris Middleton should be able to do and how other wing players like Pat Connaughton and Crowder can fill in the gaps for him, their comfort level with Cam Payne as the backup point guard, and then a run through of all the young players who will fight for any leftover minutes – MarJon Beauchamp, who has been uneven in preseason, Andre Jackson Jr., who has thrilled Bucks fans, A.J. Green, and Chris Livingston. Finally, the two-way point guards, mostly Lindell Wigginton and TyTy Washington Jr., were covered too. He rates them from what makes you panic the most to what panics you the least as a Packers' fan (0-23 minutes) TOPIC 2: Charlie talks about the Milwaukee Bucks' preseason so far and what he's seen. He talks about Andre Jackson Jr. being a contributor for the Bucks. He also discusses guys like Lindell Wigginton, Jae Crowder, MarJon Beauchamp, and more (23-37 minutes) TOPIC 3: Charlie wraps up the show by discussing the takeaways from the Milwaukee Brewers' exit interview with thoughts on Corbin Burnes, Matt Arnold putting his stuff on the table, and more (37-45 minutes)
The Milwaukee Bucks tipped off the 2023-24 season on Sunday afternoon with their first preseason game, and Gyro Step hosts Rohan Katti and Ti Windisch were in attendance as Milwaukee outlasted the Bulls despite resting key personnel including Giannis Antetokounmpo, Damian Lillard, Khris Middleton, and Cam Payne. Rohan and Ti first discussed the exciting next that Khris Middleton practiced in 5-on-5 late last week before diving into big picture scheme tweaks they noticed from head coach Adrian Griffin. Then, as is tradition for podcasts recorded after games, Rohan and Ti got to discussing EVERY Buck who played on Sunday, including: MarJon Beauchamp, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Pat Connaughton, Malik Beasley, Andre Jackson Jr., TyTy Washington Jr., Lindell Wigginton, Jae Crowder, Brook Lopez, Bobby Portis, Robin Lopez, Marques Bolden, and Drew Timme. The Milwaukee Bucks signed TyTy Washington Jr., a first round pick in the 2022 NBA Draft who TiTi Windisch was VERY high on coming out of college, to a two-way contract earlier this week. TiTi (who will be called that until the season starts, apparently) and Rohan Katti broke down why they like the flier on a talented prospect and how this situation will play out for the Bucks, given they have three point guards (Lindell Wigginton, Omari Moore, and TyTy Washington Jr.) on two-way contracts plus another coming into camp on an exhibit 10 deal (Jazian Gortman) who could play his way into a two-way spot. All four young guards seem to have a shot at real backup point guard minutes, as does rookie Andre Jackson Jr, and maybe even a wing player like Malik Beasley or MarJon Beauchamp. TiTi and Rohan started the show by flaming a silly True Hoop article about trading Giannis Antetokounmpo and ended it in true unhinged offseason fashion. The Milwaukee Bucks are running back most of their core players with a new coaching staff following their disastrous 2023 NBA Playoff run, but have the few tweaks the Bucks made left them with a better or worse group heading into the new season? Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti debate on the latest Gyro Step, with Ti thinking the Bucks are slightly worse and Rohan liking them more this season than last. Topics covered, in order, include: Thanasis Antetokounmpo re-signing with the Bucks up front; a discussion of what “on paper” really means and which rosters we're talking about here; the coaching difference from Mike Budenholzer to Adrian Griffin and whether it's a plus or minus; what Jae Crowder and Robin Lopez bring to the rotation his season; what we should expect from MarJon Beauchamp and whether he's better than the George Hill/Jordan Nwora/Wes Matthews group; what Malik Beasley can bring to the Bucks and how he will contribute (and if he's the Grayson Allen replacement); if we're underrating what Bobby Portis can add next season; what to expect from Chris Livingston, Andre Jackson Jr., Omari Moore, and Lindell Wigginton; if Portis, Allen, and Pat Connaughton will be better or worse next season; and if the Core Four (Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez, and Jrue Holiday) will be better or worse next season. There's also a lot of X dot com jokes. The Milwaukee Bucks NBA Summer League run is thankfully over after two fun wins were followed by three mostly ugly losses. Rohan Katti and Ti Windisch graded each and every player who logged a minute on the Bucks Stock Market on a scale that went from +4 on the high end to -4 on the low. Most of the discussion centered around players on the Bucks roster, including MarJon Beauchamp, Andre Jackson Jr., Chris Livingston, Lindell Wigginton, and Omari Moore, but other central figures of the Summer League squad like Jazian Gortman, Drew Timme, Iverson Molinar, Tyler Cook, Nico Mannion, Tacko Fall, and more got graded too. The Milwaukee Bucks have some big decisions to make this season on nine of their own free agents (plus two two-way players) so Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti played should they stay or should they go now (a reference, astoundingly, made by Rohan) with all of them on the Gyro Step. The pod opens with some Bucks news though, including that Milwaukee is bringing Terry Stotts to be an offensive-minded assistant on Adrian Griffin's coaching staff and that Bobby Portis will be with Team USA for the FIBA World Cup this summer. After those items it was decision time. Rohan and Ti gave their verdicts on all of the following players: Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Jae Crowder, Wes Matthews, Jevon Carter, Goran Dragic, Meyers Leonard, Joe Ingles, Lindell Wigginton, and AJ Green. Then at the very end they threw out some random names to consider ahead of doing a deep dive on potential free agents from other teams to consider, which got pretty chaotic fast. The guys talk about new Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Bennett Sousa before breaking down the Arizona Diamondbacks series out in the desert beginning Monday night. Plus, Brew Hoop's Van Fayaz joins the guys to assess whether the Milwaukee Bucks have something in Lindell Wigginton and who the best matchup is for Cream City as the 2023 NBA Play-In Tournament unfolds on Tuesday.
The Milwaukee Bucks played their final two regular season games without giving any of the Core Four run as they rested up before the playoffs begin this weekend, but Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti still had big news regarding Khris Middleton to discuss as a Chris Haynes report on Friday night was full of good news, calling Khris' absence precautionary and making it sound like he will be ready for the Bucks first playoff game. Ti and Rohan bounce around through other injuries and notes from Milwaukee's final two games, including Lindell Wigginton standing out, Jae Crowder continuing to impress, and how important Bobby Portis could be in the postseason, before previewing all of the Play-In Tournament games including who they think the Bucks will see and which teams have the best chance of pushing Milwaukee at all. #403 Lindell Wigginton, A Basketball Life & The Toughness by High Button Sports
The Daily Tap was a little bit different today. In a tied game between the Milwaukee Brewers and the San Francisco Giants, Charlie decided to do an audio running diary. He takes you through the rest of the game with a fun top of the 10th inning and another excellent Devin Williams performance. Charlie also talks a little bit about the summer league with thoughts about MarJon Beauchamp and Lindell Wigginton. Lastly, Charlie decided to enter into the fruit wars and gave the Tap List of his top favorite fruits.
The Gyro Step took Oshkosh Arena on Wednesday night as Rohan Katti and Ti Windisch covered the Wisconsin Herd's game against the Raptors 905. The Herd lost, but Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo weren't upset as they watched their younger brother Alex get the win from courtside seats by the Raptors bench. After discussing the game and the scene, including Giannis rocking a wrap of some sort on his wrist (he was ruled out for Thursday's game with knee soreness after this episode was recorded), Rohan and Ti share interviews they conducted after the game with Alex Antetokounmpo, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Lindell Wigginton, and Herd head coach Chaisson Allen. One our favorite former Cyclones Naz Mitrou-Long called into the podcast to give us an update on how things are going for him as a professional basketball player. As Naz was on his way to the gym (where else would he be going?) he talked about how his role has changed going from the collegiate game to the professional game. We asked him what it was like playing against Georges Niang for once and what it will be like coming “home” to Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines on December 8th. Mitrou-Long played for two coaches with vastly different styles in Fred Hoiberg and Steve Prohm. What were the main differences in their styles? Lindell Wigginton, a blue chip recruit from Canada, is having a great start to his college career. Naz talked about his relationship with the fellow Canadian. Nick Weiler-Babb has had one of the biggest transformations in recent memory on the basketball court. Having practiced against him numerous times could Naz see this coming? Mitrou-Long of course took the time to offer words of enthusiasm for the Cyclone men’s basketball and football teams and thank Cyclone fans for their never-ending support of him and the rest of his teammates. Finally, we asked Naz about the “3sus from Nazareth” nickname and whether or not it stuck at the professional level.

Corey Evans (@coreyevans_10) from HoopSeen.com stopped by to help us recap the fall signing period for Steve Prohm and the Iowa State basketball team. Recently, he ranked ISU's class #16 in the nation as well as #1 in the Big 12. How will that change going forward and how will the addition of Cameron Lard impact the class? We talked about what we can expect out of Isaiah Stokes' recruitment going forward and what ISU's chances are in landing the talented big man. Well connected when it comes to national recruiting, we asked Corey his thoughts on the perception of Steve Prohm's recruiting ability. Also, we look forward to reading your creative reviews you leave in iTunes, on-air during our next show.
