The Milwaukee Bucks' five-game winning streak is no more after a tough road loss to the LA Clippers on Saturday night in which Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard couldn't quite keep up with furious scoring outbursts from James Harden and Norman Powell plus a tough Clippers defense in the fourth quarter. Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti convened on Sunday morning to discuss the great basketball on display for three quarters and why Khris Middleton's scoreless performance plus Bobby Portis missing the game left the Bucks with not quite enough offensive punch. Ti and Rohan then shared how this game helped shape their approach to the 2025 NBA Trade deadline and Milwaukee potentially trading Middleton, as hard as it would be. This is Giannis and Dame's team now – the Core Four era is done. Finally at the end of the normal podcast listeners will find Ti's interviews with Bucks rookie first rounder AJ Johnson and Wisconsin Herd forward Henry Ellenson, who were kind enough to give great answers despite the Capital City Go-Go beating up on the Herd on Saturday night prior to the Bucks game. Johnson spoke a lot about his game and what he's working on, and Ellenson shared great insight on working toward an NBA call-up and his experience playing for Team USA in November. The Milwaukee Bucks continued their losing streak to top Eastern Conference foes, falling to 0-8 vs the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers and Boston Celtics following a blowout loss on Sunday afternoon that saw the Knicks hang 140 on Milwaukee in a rout. The Bucks had no answers for Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns for most of the game, and tried multiple defenders on each of them. Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti discussed how hapless Milwaukee looked and what, if anything, the Bucks should've done differently in the game before examining the needs on the roster, and wondering if Chris Livingston could help after he had a dominant G League performance in a Wisconsin Herd win on the same day. Can the Bucks carry both Bobby Portis and Brook Lopez into the postseason given their poor matchup vs some of the top teams, and how necessary is another center option? They also discussed how Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard can play better, including trying a new free throw routine and staying aggressive throughout the game. Milwaukee Bucks rookies AJ Johnson and Tyler Smith both played in the Wisconsin Herd's loss to the Motor City Cruise on Wednesday night in Oshkosh, and after the game Gyro Step host Ti Windisch caught up with them for interviews about their rookie seasons thus far. Johnson spoke on the importance of reps following his time in Australia where he didn't get to play much, how he's working on sharpening the tool that is his speed with the ball, his excitement for the Bucks winning the NBA Cup, and more. Smith talked about shooting the ball with confidence and tweaking his shot form to have more success there, the time Doc Rivers challenged a called foul on him that was actually a block, the difference in playing for the Bucks/Herd vs the G League Ignite team and his new approach, and if he feels like he's more of a forward or center long-term. Giannis Antetokounmpo's quest to get an Olympic medal sadly ended early on Tuesday morning as Greece lost to Germany 76-63. Ti Windisch and Adam McGee discussed the disappointing result and tough road forward from here for the Greek side before diving into thoughts on the rest of the tournament. Finally, they covered the Bucks final signing of the offseason as Milwaukee added 7 footer Anzejs Pasecniks as the third two-way, completing a pretty fun potential Wisconsin Herd lineup with the rookies and two-ways. Nolan Hickman exploded for the Gonzaga Bulldogs on Tuesday, dropping a career-high 24 points in a blowout win over the LMU Lions and Dominick Harris, who struggled in his return to The Kennel. It was an unbelievably efficient night from Mark Few's team, who shot about 60% from the field, 46.7% from three, and forced a whopping 20 turnovers with 12 steals and nine blocks. Graham Ike had 20 points on 8-9 shooting, and the team even saw the return of Luka Krajnovic who had six points in his first game since early December. We close out the show discussing Chet Holmgren, who was named among the 41 Team USA Olympic candidates to represent the United States in Paris at the 2024 Olympic Games. Holmgren was also named to the Rising Stars Challenge, but his former teammate Drew Timme unfortunately suffered a fractured foot and is out indefinitely with the Wisconsin Herd in the G-League. Three full-time Milwaukee Bucks players started for the Wisconsin Herd in a 106-103 win over the College Park Skyhawks on Thursday night, and Gyro Step host Ti Windisch got to interview all three of MarJon Beauchamp, Chris Livingston, and AJ Green. The trio were kind enough to answer a ton of questions about the win, their seasons and development so far, thoughts on Adrian Griffin and the aggressive defense he's instituted in Milwaukee, growing alongside each other and other young pieces on a contending Bucks roster, and more. These interviews were recorded in the tunnel near the Herd locker room so there is some background noise, but you'll be able to hear each player loud and clear. The Wisconsin Herd outlasted the Grand Rapids Gold 114-111 in an epic overtime finish on Friday night which moved Wisconsin to 5-8 in the G League Showcase seeding games with the victory. The Herd will look to bounce back after the G League Showcase ends and their record resets for the regular season portion of the schedule. There was a notable fan in the building as Bucks all-time great Giannis Antetokounmpo sat next to the Herd bench and got really invested in the game, not just in his brother Alex Antetokounmpo's performance but taking the time to speak with multiple players throughout the game and share his input, as well as dap up the Plymouth 6th grade boys team after they got to play a quick game during halftime. Ti Windisch of the Gyro Step was in attendance and caught up with Milwaukee Bucks two-way player TyTy Washington Jr., Herd guard Jazian Gortman, and Herd head coach Beno Udrih after the Herd win. Washington Jr. started and seems fine after dealing with an injury last time out, posted 16 points, 5 assists, and 3 rebounds on 7/13 shooting including 2/4 from deep in the win. Washington Jr. discussed hunting out his own shots vs passing them up, the surprise other players seemed to share about the Elam ending rules for G League overtime, his feel on the season so far, and what it was like to have Giannis in attendance. Jazian Gortman had an exciting run for the Bucks in Summer League and seems to feel great about his growth with the Herd so far. Gortman let the bench in minutes with nearly 21, and while he shot 1/5 he did total 7 assists and 5 rebounds including 2 offensive plus knocked down a three. Ti asked him about his defensive mentality, what it's like to be able to run the second unit as much as he did in his rookie season, his thoughts on his rookie year so far, playing for Giannis, being a sponge and learning from Beno Udrih, and more. Finally, Wisconsin Herd head coach Beno Udrih spoke about a number of players who have been growing so far this Herd season, including Washington Jr. and Gortman, but also Glenn Robinson III's growth as a vet and his big impact on the team, how his group is preparing to make a regular season run when records reset after this initial series of G League Showcase games ahead of the showcase in Orlando next week, the importance of rebounding and point guards seeking their own shot when it's right to do so, and more. Mark Few and the Gonzaga Bulldogs first went to the national championship in 2017, led by a pair of point guards in Nigel Williams-Goss and Josh Perkins and a quartet of quality big men in Przemek Karnowski, Johnathan Williams, Zach Collins, and Killian Tillie. Seven years later, the current Zags roster looks eerily similar: with two point guards in Nolan Hickman and Ryan Nembhard and four bigs in Graham Ike, Anton Watson, Zach Collins, and Killian Tillie. With similar offensive and defensive efficiency at KenPom, and a nearly identical tempo, could this team repeat history and go to the Final 4?We then discuss each Zag in the NBA after their first 20 or games of the season, including Chet Holmgren's Rookie of the Year campaign, Jalen Suggs' career performance, and Domantas Sabonis quest for another All-Star game. Finally, we close out the show discussing Drew Timme, who dropped 30 points for the Wisconsin Herd and drew the attention of Mark Few, who spoke about him after the Arkansas Pine Bluff game. We also discuss Marco Gonzales, former Gonzaga pitcher who was traded by the Seattle Mariners to the Atlanta Braves and then flipped to the Pittsburgh Pirates.Discord Server: https://discord.gg/HJ4MdCMt2WLink to national college basketball national podcast: https://linktr.ee/LockedOncbbhttps://linktr.ee/LockedOnZagsLocked on Zags - Part of the Locked on Podcast Network.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!BirddogsGo to birddogs.com/lockedoncollege or enter promo code LOCKEDONCOLLEGE for a free water bottle with any purchase. The school confirmed Monday that it will remove a portable section of seats from the front of the tunnel to give players, coaches and staff members more room to enter and exit the football field. A total of 45 portable seats will be lost and enough standing-room only tickets are expected to be added in the stadium to keep its capacity at 107,601. Previously, fans were close enough to touch coaches and players as one did last season with Michigan State’s Mel Tucker. The Boilermakers received 39 first-place votes after a volatile week where just two teams kept the same spot from a week ago. Alabama climbed two spots to No. 2, its highest ranking since reaching No. 1 in 2002-03. Houston, Tennessee and Kansas State round out the top five. For the first time in the 47-year history of The Associated Press women’s basketball poll no team from Texas is in the Top 25. That ends a 835-week run dating to the first poll in 1976. South Carolina remained a unanimous No. 1. The Gamecocks were followed by Ohio State, Stanford, LSU and UConn to round out the top five. Middle Tennessee entered the poll for the first time since 2014, coming in at No. 23. Florida State also entered at No. 24. Oregon and Texas fell out of the rankings. NHL – NHL – National Hockey League Tonight San Jose Sharks at Detroit Red Wings, 7:00 p.m. Chicago Blackhawks at Vancouver Canucks, 10:00 p.m. Tennis – Korda stops; Khachanov into 1st Australian Open semifinal Karen Khachanov moved into his first Australian Open semifinal when Sebastian Korda stopped playing in the third set because of an injured right wrist. Khachanov will face either No. 3 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas or unseeded Jiri Lehecka for a berth in the final at Melbourne Park. Khachanov was leading 7-6 (5), 6-3, 3-0 when Korda retired from the match Tuesday. The 22-year-old American had received treatment on his wrist from a trainer during the second set. Reigning Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina reached the semifinals with a 6-2, 6-4 victory over 2017 French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko. Rybakina will face Jessica Pegula or Victoria Azarenka next. MLB – Eloy Jiménez preparing to play outfield with White Sox It looks as if Chicago White Sox slugger Eloy Jiménez could spend a lot of time at designated hitter this year. Jiménez himself has other plans. The 26-year-old Jiménez says he is preparing to play more games in the outfield, especially in right after Chicago signed Andrew Benintendi to a $75 million, five-year contract. The White Sox also have Luis Robert in center, to go along with Gavin Sheets and prized prospect Oscar Colás in the mix in right. Jiménez says he wants to play in the outfield. MLB – Trey Mancini planning to move around with Chicago Cubs Trey Mancini is planning to move around with the Chicago Cubs. He could see time at designated hitter, first base and the corner outfield spots after finalizing a two-year contract that could be worth up to $21 million. Mancini was in the mix for Team Italy for the World Baseball Classic, but he says he has decided to stay in Cubs camp so he can spend time with his new teammates. First baseman Eric Hosmer finalized his deal with Chicago on Jan. 13. Hosmer bats from the left side and Mancini is a right-handed hitter, so the starter might depend on the pitching matchup, and there also is the DH role. Or Mancini could spell Ian Happ or Seiya Suzuki in the outfield. NCAAWBKB – Notre Dame’s Dara Mabrey out for season with torn ACL Notre Dame guard Dara Mabrey announced on social media that she tore her ACL, ending her college career with the seventh-ranked Irish. Mabrey hurt her right knee nearly 2 minutes into the game when she stole a ball and was racing down the court. She was fouled and went to the floor and immediately grabbed her knee. Mabrey has played 135 games in her career which started at Virginia Tech for the first two seasons before she came to Notre Dame where her two older sisters starred. She started 18 games this season and 125 in her career. She's averaged 10.9 points and 2.4 assists over the years. NCAAFB – Michigan Stadium tunnel will widen without portable seating Michigan Stadium’s tunnel will be a little wider next season. That was well before the postgame altercation between Spartans and Wolverines players that led to suspensions and criminal charges. NCAABKB – Boilers back on top of Men's poll; Texas teams shut out in women's rankings Purdue is back at No. 1 in the AP Top 25. Alabama is right behind the Boilermakers. Purdue returned to the top spot in The Associated Press men's college basketball poll, moving up two spots after Houston's loss to Temple. The Boilermakers received 39 first-place votes after a volatile week where just two teams kept the same spot from a week ago. Alabama climbed two spots to No. 2, its highest ranking since reaching No. 1 in 2002-03. Houston, Tennessee and Kansas State round out the top five. For the first time in the 47-year history of The Associated Press women's basketball poll no team from Texas is in the Top 25. The Milwaukee Bucks are two games into a tough set of 10 featuring mostly road games against Western Conference teams that will take them through Christmas following a truly drunk win over the Dallas Mavericks and a frustrating loss to an extremely energetic Houston Rockets team on Sunday night. Rohan Katti and Ti Windisch recorded after the Rockets loss to discuss, in order: even more injury news, as Khris Middleton left that game with an ankle sprain as Joe Ingles practices with the Wisconsin Herd and gets closer to making his Bucks debut; Jrue Holiday's excellent play carrying the Bucks recently; Giannis Antetokounmpo reaching 15,000 career points even as he struggles by his standard; Bobby Portis' outsized impact for essentially a sixth man; how Grayson Allen and Jevon Carter have looked as Grayson starts games and Jevon comes off of the bench; and Pat Connaughton's continued cold shooting. After getting through all of the Bucks takes, Ti and Rohan discussed attending the 2022 NBA G League draft party held by the Wisconsin Herd, who picked Joe Wieskamp with the second overall pick. Included in that is a quick interview with Herd head coach Chaisson Allen on the draft, the season outlook, and even his thoughts on seeing MarJon Beauchamp in Oshkosh. It's a new season for the Milwaukee Bucks, but the latest episode of the Gyro Step podcast is concerned with a pretty old question at this point: who should start at shooting guard alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, and Brook Lopez? Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti took a poll using the GSPN text line and discussed the four main options: Grayson Allen, Wes Matthews, Joe Ingles (when he's healthy) and MarJon Beauchamp. Text 'GSPN' (without the single quotes) to 31032 to be ready for the text line event! The Gyro Step took Oshkosh Arena on Wednesday night as Rohan Katti and Ti Windisch covered the Wisconsin Herd's game against the Raptors 905. The Herd lost, but Giannis and Thanasis Antetokounmpo weren't upset as they watched their younger brother Alex get the win from courtside seats by the Raptors bench. After discussing the game and the scene, including Giannis rocking a wrap of some sort on his wrist (he was ruled out for Thursday's game with knee soreness after this episode was recorded), Rohan and Ti share interviews they conducted after the game with Alex Antetokounmpo, Sandro Mamukelashvili, Lindell Wigginton, and Herd head coach Chaisson Allen.
