NBA Free Agency starts Friday evening, so all four of the GSPN Milwaukee Bucks podcasters joined up to thoroughly discuss all of Milwaukee's own impending free agents – Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez, Jae Crowder, Joe Ingles, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Jevon Carter (we recorded before he reportedly declined his player option, so you can ignore that part of the discussion), Wes Matthews, and more – plus throw out their preferred outside free agents for Milwaukee to target in the open market. Players discussed include (but aren't limited to, there were a bunch): Thomas Bryant, Donte DiVincenzo, Shake Milton, Lonnie Walker IV, Tre Jones, Wenyen Gabriel, Keita Bates-Diop, Yuta Watanabe, Max Strus, Gabe Vincent, Jock Landale, Taurean Prince, Dennis Schroder, and Jalen McDaniels. The Milwaukee Bucks have some big decisions to make this season on nine of their own free agents (plus two two-way players) so Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti played should they stay or should they go now (a reference, astoundingly, made by Rohan) with all of them on the Gyro Step. The pod opens with some Bucks news though, including that Milwaukee is bringing Terry Stotts to be an offensive-minded assistant on Adrian Griffin's coaching staff and that Bobby Portis will be with Team USA for the FIBA World Cup this summer. After those items it was decision time. Rohan and Ti gave their verdicts on all of the following players: Khris Middleton, Brook Lopez, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, Jae Crowder, Wes Matthews, Jevon Carter, Goran Dragic, Meyers Leonard, Joe Ingles, Lindell Wigginton, and AJ Green. Then at the very end they threw out some random names to consider ahead of doing a deep dive on potential free agents from other teams to consider, which got pretty chaotic fast. The Milwaukee Bucks 2023 NBA Playoffs run was a dud, but it's important to learn from the debacle to understand how the Bucks can best move on from it. In that spirit, Rohan Katti and Ti Windisch retroactively gave out Bucks Stock Market valuations for the team's first round series against the Miami Heat, using the series as a whole vs individual games to assign the stocks. From Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jrue Holiday, and Brook Lopez to Jevon Carter, Jae Crowder, and Wes Matthews, Rohan and Ti covered every Buck to log at least 10 minutes in the series. Before the stock talk, Rohan and Ti discussed the tragic news of Bucks coach Mike Budenholzer losing his brother during the Heat series, and shared they would be abstaining from further coaching analysis for a while as a result. Finally, near the end of the podcast the Gyro Step hosts dove into some trade target slop based on rumors and speculation around the Association, giving their quick thoughts on Jalen Green, Trae Young, and James Harden as potential Milwaukee Bucks targets should the team decide to move on from a core player.  Visit GSPN.info to find links to the Bucks Stock Market plus all our Bucks, Brewers, Packers, and pop culture podcasts, our GSPN YouTube channel and Substack, the form to gain entry to our Discord server, our Twitter links, and more! The Milwaukee Bucks started their 2023 postseason run with a whimper, falling 130-117 to the red hot-shooting Miami Heat. To make matters worse, Giannis Antetokounmpo left the game after a hard fall on his lower back and was ruled out for the rest of the game in the first half. Ti Windisch, Jordan Treske, and Rohan Katti convened after the disappointing start to discuss the latest word on Giannis' status (the x-rays were clean thankfully), and examine both the silver linings from the loss (including a great Khris Middleton game and encouraging minutes from Bobby Portis and Wes Matthews) and what the Bucks need to clean up before Game 2 (more Brook Lopez post touches, better perimeter defense, more Joe Ingles on ball) whether Giannis is available or not.  Tune into the Gyro Step Podcast Network for post-game coverage after EVERY Milwaukee Bucks playoff game! Visit GSPN.info to find links to the Bucks Stock Market plus all our Bucks, Brewers, Packers, and pop culture podcasts, our GSPN YouTube channel and Substack, the form to gain entry to our Discord server, our Twitter links, and more! The Milwaukee Bucks won their 58th game against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday night, locking up the NBA's number one seed throughout the playoffs and ensuring they will not see the Boston Celtics or Philadelphia 76ers until the Eastern Conference Finals, should those teams get that far. The victory was symbolic of the way the Bucks have been forced to win all season, as Giannis Antetokounmpo, Grayson Allen, and Pat Connaughton sat out with various injuries and Khris Middleton exited with knee soreness less than 10 minutes into the game. Ti Windisch, Rohan Katti, and Jordan Treske discussed the game itself (including Wes Matthews' continued resurgence), what it means for this Bucks team to win so many games and secure the top seed in the East and Association, and then dove into injury talk mostly focused on Khris Middleton but also covering Pat and Grayson too. Also Bad Boy Rohan made an appearance and absolutely tore up the play-in teams in the East.  Visit GSPN.info to find links to the Bucks Stock Market plus all our Bucks, Brewers, Packers, and pop culture podcasts, our GSPN YouTube channel and Substack, the form to gain entry to our Discord server, our Twitter links, and more! On the latest Gyro Step, Ti Windisch and Rohan Katti dive into how that's happened and how the team's rotation will look different when the Big 3 finally do return to the court, centering on one big question: should Jevon Carter or Grayson Allen go to the bench when Khris is finally back in the lineup? [Update from post-recording: Khris and Jrue are still expected to be out against Atlanta but Giannis is probable.] They also discuss trade chatter since reports had Milwaukee shopping Allen around last week, and Ti throws out a spicy trade out of nowhere. Coach Chauncey Billups makes his first big move as a head coach, opting to sit Nurkic and deploying the small ball closing lineup featuring Lillard, Simons, Har, Grant and Justise Winslow Shaedon Sharpe makes his NBA debut and looks like he belongs in the rotation immediately. Calm and collected, Billups went back to the rookie for a 2nd shift in the 2nd half. The last several days have not been kind to the Lakers. They've yet to win a preseason game. Trevor Ariza is out indefinitely after ankle surgery. Malik Monk is sidelined (albeit hopefully not for long) with a groin issue. And then came Monday's news that Talen Horton Tucker will require surgery to repair torn ligaments in his thumb. It's not yet known how long the recovery will take, but it goes without saying that the Lakers will be without their emerging young player for a sizable period.Beyond the loss of THT's individual skills, the Lakers are extremely low on dudes who could conceivably (much less credibly) play small forward. It's basically now LeBron James, Kent Bazemore... and crickets. This was already a thin position on the roster, but Rob Pelinka seemed content to keep the fifteenth roster spot open, rather than add some depth, Now that feels damn near impossible to justify. Whether James Ennis, Wes Matthews or whoever, the Lakers need a live body who can credibly play 10-15 minutes at the spot.On the positive side, Tuesday's preseason game against the Warriors should finally feature the long-awaited preseason debuts of LeBron, Anthony Davis and Russell Westbrook as a trio. Friday's exit interviews were the last bit of closure for the Lakers' season. There was a lot of disappointment expressed over the way things wrapped up, but to nearly a man there was also excitement at the prospect of running it back with the same roster next season, and addressing this year's unfinished business. Along these lines, interesting comments from Dennis Schröder and Montrezl Harrell. From there, how might Lakers fans react to seeing the Clippers advance in the playoffs while the purple and gold sit at home. Plus, Lakers assistant coach Jason Kidd gets wooed for another gig... and turns it down. Does it mean he's angling for a local job?Hosts: Andy and Brian KamenetzkySEGMENT 1: During Friday's exit interviews, many Lakers expressed a desire to, as Wes Matthews put it, "run it back" next season. Among them was Schröder, whose enthusiasm was intriguing, if a reminder of how hard he is to get a bead on.SEGMENT 2: There was one Laker, however, who didn't seem enthused at coming back, even though he also seemed to recognize that he might need to. The Kamenetzkys discuss Harrell's exit interview.SEGMENT 3: As a Laker fan, would you rather see the Clippers remain good so an epic Hallway Series with the Lakers will finally happen... or continually flame out and disappoint because the jokes are just too fun? Also, what to make of Kidd declining Damian Lillard's public lobbying become Portland's head coach? Does this hint at any insecurity for Frank Vogel?Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar. Holy ****, that was fun! The NBA got exactly what it hoped for Wednesday in the battle of LeBron James and Steph Curry. It was tight down the stretch, with stars hitting huge shots and generally helping the game meet the hype. But in the end, the Lakers won out and will advance as the Western Conference's 7-seed, facing the Phoenix Suns on Sunday. On the agenda for Thursday's show...HOSTS: Andy and Brian KamenetzkySEGMENT 1: Reaction to the win. What went wrong in the first half? What did they fix in the second? How was that game everything that gives Lakers fans hope and simultaneously scares the heck out of them, wrapped neatly into 48 minutes?SEGMENT 2: The Lakers went small in the second half, playing Andre Drummond only seven minutes and sitting Montrezl Harrell entirely. (Marc Gasol never took off his warmups.) Is this a sign of what's to come? Was Drummond really the issue? How much center can Davis play?SEGMENT 3: The Lakers need their stars to be excellent, as they were last season and in the second half on Wednesday. But they also need help from the supporting cast, and Wednesday that help came from Alex Caruso, Wes Matthews, and Kyle Kuzma. Kuz, for what it's worth, is a sneaky good bet to have a very influential postseason for the Lakers.Support Us By Supporting Our Sponsors!Built BarBuilt Bar is a protein bar that tastes like a candy bar.
