They dive into last night's blowout win over the Rockies, this time powered by five home runs to bring the Jays' total runs in this series up to 25. The duo focus in on Daulton Varsho, who hit a pair of home runs along with a two-run double, and discuss how he has re-inserted himself as a major component in the lineup. B&B also touch on Joey Loperfido, who had to leave the game after getting drilled in the knee by a fastball, to chat about his importance to this team now. On this episode we check back in Chris Boucher, who was originally on the program in July of 2022. Boucher is a hemp industry OG. In 1990, he was first introduced to hemp by Jack Herer himself in, author of the book that jumpstarted the hemp movement in America, The Emperor Wears No Clothes. In 1994 Boucher was issued a permit from the USDA to grow fiber hemp in California, but his crop was destroyed before harvest by local drug enforcement agents. He was a founding member of the Hemp Industries Association and was part of the landmark case HIA vs. DEA that established the legality of CBD. But these days, Boucher's hemp endeavor is JuiceTiva, a cold-pressed hemp juice powder rooted in the nutritional potential of hemp leaves and flowers. Boucher shares his opinions of the state of hemp in California, which he says has the worst hemp regulations of any state in the union, citing Governor Newsom's recent banning of hemp products and the structure of the state and county agriculture departments. He describes a situation in California where the marijuana industry is battling the hemp industry for dominance in the intoxicating cannabinoid arena. Before there was an NBA, before there was a BAA, professional basketball looked a lot different than it does today. Back in the early 1900s, professional basketball was largely made up of regional leagues spread out across the country. A particular hotbed for these regional leagues was the Northeast. One of the leagues, the NEBL (New England Basketball League), was also one of the more progressive leagues. In fact, it was the first to allow "colored" players and leading the way was Harry "Bucky" Lew. Now known as the first African-American professional basketball player, Lew was also one of the game's stars. On this episode of Sports' Forgotten Heroes, author Chris Boucher joins as we discuss the career of Bucky Lew, how these leagues were set up and what the game of basketball looked like back then. Chris, who wrote the book, "The Original Bucky Lew", and I discuss how different the ball was and how difficult it was to dribble the ball. How basketball courts were boxed in by chicken wire, so there was no out-of-bounds, there were no backboards, and fouling a player and the free-throws were no where near the same as they are in the game we watch today. But, the main focus is Lew. The racism he faced, how he played the game, how he continued to break down barriers such as becoming the first African-American to officiate a game, the first to coach a team and the first to own a team. Bucky Lew was certainly a pioneer and we dive into it all on this episode of Sports' Forgotten Heroes.

On this week of Confederacy of Dunks, Freddie Rivas and Andy Hull welcome guest Anthony Hall from Toronto's Second City. They of course riff on the insane new theme song that Andy has created, and move on to talk a little bit about the Toronto raptors pre-season. The guys talk about IQ, Jamaal Shead, Chris Boucher and Peyton Prichard somehow always going off against the raptors. They touch on the low stakes of the pre season and how this team is in hard to evaluate without having IQ and Scottie on the floor together. After the pre season talk they get curious about the hall of fame. Vince Carter's hall of fame addition as a raptor sparked Freddie's curiosity so the guys riff on hall of fakes in general. What makes them matter? Where are they? Who gets in? Should we care? Do we care? They decide to make a Canadian heritage minute where Andy heckles James Naismith (played by Freddie) until James Naismith gives up his idea. Anthony suggest that he could be one of the guys who is wearing tight clothing. Pretty good idea honestly. Question three is all about the new documentary series the starting five which features LeBron, Jimmy, Anthony davis, Anthony Edwards and Domantis Sabonis. They each choose their own starting five and explore different angles like journeyman, veteran players, instigators and player coaches. Between the in three of them we get a big variety of takes and some straight up golden ideas if we are being real about it. Topic number four is all about the Donte Divenenzo and Rick Brunson beef. During the Minnesota Timberwolves vs New York Knicks game, don't was talking some smack to Tom Thibideau and it went viral. The guys explore other potential beefs this year like Bronny Vs Dillon, Paul George Vs Kawhi Leonard and Taylor Swift Vs Tom Thibideau. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices
