Ljósmæður líta um öxl: Anna Eðvaldsdóttir by Stefanía Ósk Margeirsdóttir
“Ljósmæður líta um öxl” er syrpa sem er unnin í samstarfi við Ljósmæðrafélag Íslands, þar sem rætt er við reynslubolta eftir starfslok.Gestur þáttarins er Anna Eðvaldsdóttir ljósmóðir með meiru. Hún segir frá fjölbreyttum starfsferli sem endurspeglar brennandi áhuga á faginu en Anna hefur alltaf tekið nýjungum í starfi fagnandi, enda heyrum við sögur af bókaútgáfu og ráðgjafa-símalínu (sem stundum var misskilin um helgar) Það má með sanni segja að Anna, sem er iðulega kölluð Anna Ljósa, sé ljósmóðir fram í fingurgóma og þykir ekkert sjálfsagðara en að hafa aðstöðu til mæðraverndar á eigin heimili eða að stökkva yfir til nágrannakonu til þess að taka á móti barni í sparikjól milli rétta Anna hefur staðið vaktina á Landspítala frá 1994 ásamt því að sinna fjölskyldum á þeirra heimili (oftar en ekki í Hafnarfirði) og geta samstarfskonur sem og skjólstæðingar staðfest að það er aldrei lognmolla þegar Anna Ljósa er á vakt.
"We are never alone. We are never truly left behind to endure by ourselves. There will always be someone one step ahead of us; even if we want to be where they already are, we need to run our own race as they pave the way. Encouragement is indeed a superpower. We can feel big feelings and let them propel us to action. We are capable of more than we know. Girlfriends really are just the best!"Leave a comment for Anna: https://incourage.me/?p=252210 --It's graduation season! Dopo anni di lavoro da dipendente prima e da libera professionista poi, Anna Lucà ha deciso di aprire un salone da parrucchiera tutto suo a St Peters, a Sydney, condividendo lo spazio con un caffè gestito dal marito Arseniy.
"May we never tire of seeking the Ebenezer stones in our life. Big and small, tangible or otherwise, let's look for reminders of God's love and good gifts. May we never settle for good enough when God's good and perfect beckons. And may we tune our ears to listen for the still, small voice that guides our steps with wisdom to tell the difference."Leave a comment for Anna: https://incourage.me/?p=250966--Getting ready for Easter? "Maybe it's the same with that garden. Maybe for whatever reason, unnecessary for me to know, that gardener simply can't get out to maintain and harvest it. Should I knock on the door to help? Well, that's another post for another day. But for now, what I can offer is a small smile as I drive by, a hefty dose of grace, and nothing but kindness in my heart no matter what I see languishing in the garden — and that extends to my own home and heart too."Leave a comment for Anna: https://incourage.me/?p=249489--Unlock a world of heartwarming entertainment with Hallmark+. "God says He thinks of us MORE than there are grains of sand. Always on the mind and heart of the Lord? Good gracious. It's too much to take in.Even deeper than the wonder of someone who gives the perfect gift just because we were on their mind, God was thinking of us yesterday, today, and forever onward. You are always on His mind.
"God stays the same so we don't have to.While adapting to the changes we don't ask for can drag us right through the mud and into the valley, God the author remains unchanged. Malachi 3:6 (NIV) says straight up, "I the Lord do not change." And His faithfulness, His consistency, His unchanging nature can soothe our fear of the unknown."Leave a comment for Anna: https://incourage.me/?p=240997--Stay organized and inspired this school year with an (in)courage Agenda Planner & 100 Days of Strength in Any Struggle bundle! We gather today to celebrate with great joy the 50th anniversary of the ordination of women in The Episcopal Church. And precisely because of our joy, we keep in mind the long road that led to this occasion, the unnumbered women and men who were told they were separating themselves from the church by faithfully challenging it. On the Feast of Mary Magdalene, we look to her example. The commission of Mary Magdalene — a woman and collaborator in ministry united to the great High Priest — shows us that what for nearly 2000 years had been impossible for the church was in every way a possibility, a choice for Jesus. Eucharist, St. Mary Magdalene: Judith 9:1,11-14 • Psalm 42:1-7• 2 Corinthians 5:14-18 • John 20:11-18
"God sees the real us no matter the mess of our home, hair, health, or circumstances. Jesus is the one to stretch out a hand. The one to meet us exactly where and as we are. The one who goes first with empathy and care and kindness. The one who makes us feel so confidently loved that we can shed our fears and boldly proclaim that love."Leave a comment for Anna: https://incourage.me/?p=240090--In our book, 100 Days of Strength in Any Struggle, you'll discover where strength really comes from—Jesus, who holds everything together. Pentecost Day Acts 2:1-21 Psalm 104:25-35, 37 Romans 8:22-27 John 15:26-27; 16:4b-15 We gather in homage to the Holy Spirit, the Third Person of the Trinity, revealed in various forms and as the Spirit of Truth. Today's festival is also a festival of justice, one that may confound our expectations and upend our sense of comfort. Building common understanding means designing our lives, personal and collective in such a way that we who have much come to reflect that the truth that everything we are and have is a gift from God, And so intentionally conserve a portion of what is "ours," for the last and the least. This commitment aligns with Anglican theology, urging compassion and care for all. And it is grounded in our baptism covenant, which renew today in faith and and where we invoke the Spirit's guidance for a just and peaceful community.
"Oh, how He is faithful in our deep-rooted doubting. When we doubt that His glory could be real, that His story happened, that He makes us new and whole and scrubbed clean, even the hostas declare the Truth. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! 2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV"Leave a comment for Anna: https://incourage.me/?p=239139 --Graduation season is here! "We can be the one who helps another girl fly. In tangible ways and in words spoken. In giving from our time, our talents, and our treasures. In showing up when we're needed, even if we're not asked. In opening our hearts, our homes, our hands to one another. In a world where it's often easier to assume, ignore, or compete, we can be the ones to support, uplift, and bolster. When the chance to help arises, may we find ourselves saying, "I get to be the one!" May we beam as my daughter did on that basketball court as she hoisted someone up and into the air. "Your weight is not your worth. God doesn't love you more if you're thin. God doesn't love you less if you're in a bigger body. Your pants size does not matter to God, and it doesn't matter if that size goes up or down or stays the same. God just loves you - wholly, as you are. "Just as the best mother ever constantly thinks about and cares for her children, God does the same for us. He cares for us, and He'd like us to care for ourselves too. That care might look like a doctor's appointment to check on that weird thing, or like drinking that glass of water, or going to bed early, or praying when you're worried. It might also look like accepting help from a friend, admitting when things are a big deal and when we need to be taken care of.Let's be strong enough to lean in — to God and others — and let's do what we need to do to take care of ourselves well."Leave a comment for Anna: https://incourage.me/?p=236986 --Plan out your whole year of Bible studies with the (in)courage Create in Me a Heart of... study collection! The First Sunday After Christmas Day: Isaiah 61:10—62:3 Psalm 147:13-21 Galatians 3:23-25; 4:4-7 John 1:1-18 Scriptural references to light, are about God-given wisdom and insight. They are about fearless searching for truth, about self-knowledge, unveiling what is hidden, and brightening the shadows. This is the light to which we are all end. Holding that commission and understanding tenderly, I need to now turn to the shadow cast by the Israel-Gaza war, and our own call to witness to light in the darkness. We are not in Gaza or Israel, and most of us are not in Gazan or Palestinian or Israeli families. If there is one thing we can do to witness to light in the darkness, it is to join those who have laid down their arms for the cause of peace in this pledge jointly written by Israeli and Palestinian families who have lost loved ones to war: https://parentscirclefriends.org/pledge/

"Jesus too welcomes us in all of our imperfection, loudness, questioning, and fidgeting. Kids only know one way to show up -- just as they are. They bring their true selves to every situation and that's exactly how Jesus invites us to approach Him. So I'll keep bringing my kids to church, making space for them just as they are -- wiggles and yells and big feelings and all -- even when it makes me sweat. I'll breathe deep and remind myself that church makes space, and Jesus showed us how to do just that. May we do the same for one another."Leave a comment for Anna: https://incourage.me/?p=236261--This year, be intentional about setting aside moments to fully experience the joy and the miracle of Christmas, even in the midst of the chaos of holiday to-do lists. In the midst of loss, there is a kernel of hope, even the hope of hope that brings us together. We might hope for a reunion for those who have gone before us, but our modern minds chafe at the idea. It's beautiful, but is it, or how is it true? Jesus' teaching opens our hearts to prayers for the dead, the trust that they are being perfected in God's sight. It also welcomes us to the Eucharistic feast, where we taste in part what we will taste fully at the end of time. Everything is waiting for you to begin. "The same One who changes the leaves can also change my heart. Like the leaves on the North Shore, turned ahead of time and out of sync with my expectations, I feel out of step with this season I love so much. But those passages in Ecclesiastes remind me of the Jesus I also love so much, that His life also turned ahead of time... and yet it was actually the exact, perfect, just right time. Every step we take is all in His time, and there's a grace and relief in that. Even when it flies, the time is His. Even when it drags on and on, it's His. Even when it feels off-beat, it's His."Leave a comment for Anna: https://incourage.me/?p=235381--Do you ever think about the impact of your smile, your words? "I did the hustle thing and it's exhausting. My life runs better when it's quieter. Jesus knew something that we, in our live-out-loud, post-it-all, like-counting culture, can easily forget: quieting makes space for more. More connection. More peace. More open-handedness. More time. More room in our calendars, hearts, and homes."Leave a comment for Anna: https://incourage.me/?p=234361--Stay organized and inspired this school year with an (in)courage Planner! "When we pay attention, we see that it oozes and seeps through each crack in our lives. It shows up and shows off in big and small ways, both loud and quiet, not clamoring for our noticing but patiently waiting for us to turn our heads and hearts to its glory. And when we do, it can change everything. Where are you seeing the grace of God these days?"Answer Anna's question here: https://incourage.me/?p=233795--The summer issue of DaySpring's Everyday Faith magazine is on newsstands! In worship, God asks something of us: our time, our presence, our material resources; our imagination, our heart, our gifts, our loves. God calls to Abraham, who says "here I am." Abraham is not responding with GPS coordinates, but with self-offering — "Yes, you have me; all of me." Proper 8A: Genesis 22:1-14, Psalm 13, Romans 6: 12-23, Matthew 10:40-42 July 2nd, 2023
We followed God's whisper in, and we followed it right back out. Sometimes it's like that; a wild decision here, a seemingly scattered choice there. If you can look steadily beyond the shivering winds, the shattering earthquake, and the showy fire, God's voice will ring clear and gentle. Throughout that year's journey, through the pain and the loneliness, the fear and failures, the leaving and the leaving again… God remained. If you can hear the gentle whisper of the Lord, you're never without a way home. We are welcome to feel difficulty and sadness at Christmas time. We are also welcome to feel joy. Maybe we need to talk more about the joy of Jesus, and dive deep into Scripture and history, but for today it's enough for me to imagine with certainty: Jesus knew joy, because Jesus knew God.Leave a comment for Anna and the (in)courage community: https://incourage.me/?p=229139--You can now preorder Create in Me a Heart of Wisdom, the next Bible study from (in)courage!
