As you listen, this episode was recorded in the spooky month of October, but this episode is timeless in that it tells of a local ghost story that I have heard many times and in many different versions – The Legend of the Lady's Walk. Those of you who live on the Santa Rosa Sound in Mary Esther or in Fort Walton Beach are probably very familiar with this story and may have even been frightened as a child by the prospects of its truth. I will give you three versions. Each version was told in a 1983 article from the Playground Daily News, written by Brian Massey. He quotes each version verbatim.

Why Conventional Supplements Don't Work as Well as Plant Phytochemicals with Mary Esther Miranda Gilbert

Nutritionists recommend organic foods for their high mineral and phytochemical content. However, we do not pay as much attention to our daily diet as to limit it to organic foods. We need supplements to correct nutrient deficiencies.   But despite their nutritional value, supplements have potential adverse health effects. My guest, Mary Esther Gilbert, has studied supplements for over 40 years and found that very few on the market are made from organically grown whole foods.   Synthetic supplements lose the enzyme factor and other nutrients in the production process. Conventional supplements also lack the cofactors that the body requires to absorb plant-based nutrients. Mary also points out that some supplements have additional ingredients with potential allergenic or health-damaging effects.   We need organic and whole food supplements. Mary offers the alternative of DNA drops, which are superior to nutritional supplements and contain whole food components with active enzymes to ease absorption and digestion.    Tune in to learn how you can use DNA drops to detox, repair the gut, and relieve inflammation and pain.    Today's Episode Explores: - How phytochemicals in plants help with elimination and detox of toxins in the body  - The problems with the carnivore and low-carb diets - The issues with conventional supplements - synthetic, don't absorb, don't have the bioenergetics of plant-based nutrients -  DNA Drops and how they are superior to other nutritional supplements - extraction method to retain viable healing nanoparticles from the plant cells, negative ions and submucosal delivery -  HPR DNA drops for the liver detox and support - how each botanical in HPR supports the liver - How the MLS DNA drop is specifically designed to aid with gut health, which is key to successful detoxification.  - My favorite DNA drop SLD to reduce inflammation and pain  For more information and to learn more about DNAdrops, visit www.myersdetox.com/DNADrops   After listening to this episode, you might be wondering about heavy metals. There is so much talk about meditation that it can make your head spin. And it can lead to misunderstanding, for instance, meditation is meant to give you peace and stress reduction. However, the point of an active meditation practice is to become aware and awaken. Any preconceived ideas and expectations get in the way of experiencing what meditation can be. Meditation is about the experience. Life experience. It's not about theorizing, wishing, or conceptualizing.  Claude AnShin Thomas traveled from the horrors of the battlefields in Vietnam, struggling with drug addiction, depression, and violence when he returned to the US, to living for 26 years now as a fully ordained Zen Buddhist monk. He is intimately acquainted with suffering and knows how to learn to live in a different relationship with one's suffering. Claude AnShin is the guiding teacher at the Magnolia Zen Center in Mary Esther, Florida, and the founder of the Zaltho Foundation, a nonprofit organization that promotes meditation and nonviolence. Claude AnShin teaches frequently in the United States, Europe, and South America. Today's guest is Mary Esther Malloy joined by my lovely wife, Navah D'Alessandro. Birth stories are a right of passage that every person on this planet experiences yet no two are the same. You think you know how babies are made? You are in for a big surprise. Mary Esther is the owner of Mindful Birth in New York City. It's no secret that our current systems have a gross misalignment with their business objectives and the sacred act of our fierce women bringing life into this world. Hearing Mary's insights and experiences in dealing with the system is eye-opening. Her childbirth preparation course hands down changed our experience by giving us the knowledge and tools to navigate the hospital system and make empowered decisions every step of the way. Navah and I had a pretty extreme birth experience with Navah birthing our son vaginally breech without meds- like a boss! Without the guidance of our core team of Mary Esther, our Midwife Marcy Tardio, and our Doula Maggie Torrance I don't know what the experience would have looked like so I want to honor the sacred feminine in them and the divine work they do. I'd also like to honor the incredible Dr that birthed our son for he is a rare breed of breech experienced, caring, and willing to take the risk in a time when hospitals and insurance companies strongly push against vaginal breech births, despite their comparable risks to cesarian. I sadly won't name him out of concern for backlash. Mary Esther Malloy offers families an expansive, holistic approach to childbirth preparation, labor support, and parenting. In addition to teaching childbirth classes, running parenting groups, attending births, and raising her three children, Mary Esther publishes regularly about birth and parenting.

Currently in the US, approximately one-third of all babies are born by cesarean. However, it's interesting to note that when I asked my prenatal yoga class of 21 pregnant people how many have considered the possibility of cesarean birth, only 3 people raised their hands.  For many, the idea of a surgical birth is something they would prefer to avoid, but not learning about the process and preparing for the possibility can be a poor choice. Something unknown can create fear whereas education and communication can lead to supportive choices creating a more positive birth experience.  In this episode of Yoga| Birth | Babies, experienced childbirth educator, doula, parent support leader, and owner of Mindful Birth NY, Mary Esther Malloy, openly talks about preparing for a cesarean birth. Mary Esther explains how a cesarean birth unfolds and offers tools to use for a mindful cesarean. We also talk about how to integrate protocols more associated with a vaginal birth, like skin to skin, delayed cord clamping and “seeding” the baby. This is an important, necessary conversation for all expectant parents. SUPPORT OUR SPONSORS! One of the first things people think of when they visit the Destin area is our white sand beaches and the Gulf of Mexico, but this is also a boater’s dream with plenty of places to explore throughout all of our coastal waterways. There are so many wonderful places to explore by water to create memories that last forever. Recently I visited the Fort Walton Beach sound on the west side of Mary Esther to do a little boating on the adjoining intercoastal waterway and along the Destin harbor. There are many beaches like the one I’m standing on in the video above scattered up and down the coastline, and we’re fortunate to live in such a beautiful area. “We’d be honored to give you a private tour of waterfront properties if you want.” Destin’s original tag line was “The World’s Luckiest Fishing Village” due to our vast variety of fish, but we’re now also recognized as one of the top coastal vacation destinations in the country. We live this lifestyle and if you ever want to explore waterfront real estate opportunities by boat, we would be honored to give you a private tour. Looking at real estate and our area by water gives you a much different perspective than by land. If you have any questions or you think you might like to take a ride to look at some waterfront properties, don’t hesitate to give me a call. You don’t have to twist my arm to get me out of the office.
