Matt Coyle is the author of the best-selling Rick Cahill crime novels. Though he has wanted to be a crime writer since age 14, his actual foray into crime fiction was delayed for 30 years while he spent time managing a restaurant, selling golf clubs for various golf companies, and doing national sales for a sports licensing company. He wrote nights for more than a decade in producing his 2013 debut novel “Yesterday's Echo.” He has since published a total of 10 Rick Cahill novels and he has won numerous awards. Brain disease worsening, Rick Cahill risks everything—even his life—to provide for his fractured family's futureSan Diego private investigator Rick Cahill's past comes back to haunt him when he's at his most vulnerable. His wife, Leah, has fled with their daughter, Krista, to her parents' home in Santa Barbara. A jumpstart toward that future appears in the form of Peter Stone, Rick's longtime enemy. Stone offers Rick $50,000 to find a woman he claims can save his life with a kidney transplant. Rick can't pass up the chance to buttress Krista's future. When what seems like a simple missing person case spirals out of control into cryptocurrency machinations, dead bodies, and an outgunned faceoff, Rick is forced to battle evil from his past. On today's Surprise Spontaneous On-Location 106th Episode of The Thriller Zone, my guest is Matt Coyle. Matt's latest Rick Cahill Thriller, Doomed Legacy, is available now.I spoke with Matt on location at Warwick's Bookstore in La Jolla, CA, just moments before we went on stage to present to the audience his latest masterpiece. As I said, the moment was spontaneous, the episode is shorter than most, but it was an experiment of sorts to see how interviewing and producing on the fly, but "not exactly live" would work. Fortunately, my sponsor, Warwick's Bookstore, was super helpful and excited to play along, as evidence by the on-the-fly sponsorship placement by the lovely and talented Julie Slavinsky, Events Coordinator for Warwick's, both in store and online. To learn more, visit: MattCoyleBooks.comMentioned in this episode:5-Star Reviews Are CoolRemember when you were a young kid in school and when you did something out of the ordinary, you got a gold star for it. Helaine Mario is the author of the Classical Music Suspense Series which feature classically trianed pianst Maggie O'Shea as the protagonist. Classical piano music and several visits to France, Austria and Cornwall inspired many of the events - and much of the atmospheric and authentic settings - in the series. Helaine believes strongly in "giving back" to her community. For the eight years of the Clinton Presidency, she was a White House volunteer for Tipper and Al Gore in the Office of the Vice President and continues to be a passionate advocate for women & children's issues. In 1998, Helaine founded The SunDial Foundation, Inc., which contributed to non-profit organizations for our most vulnerable women, children and families for 20 years. In 2018, The Helaine and Ronald Mario Fund was established to continue this work. Royalties from all book sales go directly to children's reading, nutrition and health programs. Born in NYC and a graduate of Boston University, Helaine now lives in Arlington, VA, with her husband of 50+ years, Ron Mario. She is grateful to be a 2 time cancer survivor, and is most proud of her 2 children and 5 beautiful grandchildren. Her son Sean studied classical piano for 15 years and inspired the classical music background in Helaine's music suspense series. SHADOW MUSIC is Helaine's 4th book.
