It is that time of year again! The time when attention shifts away from the AP Poll and moves over to the College Football Playoff rankings. Tuesday, the College Football Playoff committee released the initial rankings for 2025. Ohio State remained at the top followed by Indiana, Texas A&M and Alabama to round out the top four. One of the most notable rankings was that of two teams who played earlier in the year. Miami, who has been struggling as of recently, came in at 18. That fell well behind a team they beat in Notre Dame who is sitting at 10. Also, the Big 12 appears to be in position to get two teams into the playoff, while the ACC looks like it will be a one-team league. Andy Staples, Steven Godfrey and Ross Dellenger discuss all of the drama and voice their thoughts on all of the attention surrounding this first rendition of the rankings. Plus, the guys take a look at what the bracket would look like if the playoff started today!Later, the guys discuss the top team in the country. The Ohio State Buckeyes. Such a dominant season has not created much drama to talk about for this team, however Andy, Ross and Godfrey look at just how dominant they have been. Is this success due to a lackluster schedule, or is this team on a path to another national title? On the flip side, could the lack of competition hinder Ohio State in the long run as they go on to face far more difficult competition in the College Football Playoff? And, what about their hated rivals, the Michigan Wolverines? Is this the year Ohio State can snap the four-game losing streak, or will Michigan prevail once again? Then, the guys take a look at a team who had similar expectations as Ohio State in the preseason, but their season has gone far differently. The Clemson Tigers. Dabo Swinney's team has struggled tremendously this season and it appears that Swinney's method of coaching may not be holding up in the new era of college football. Is this the beginning of the end for Swinney at Clemson? Should Dabo move on from coaching or just move on from Clemson? Are there similarities between his situation and Nick Saban's before Saban retired? All of this and more on today's College Football Enquirer.(0:49) - Reactions to the initial CFP rankings for 2025(24:59) - Is Ohio State too dominant?(32:18) - Will Ohio State beat Michigan this season?(42:47) - Julian Sayin's Heisman campaign(48:47) - Is Dabo Swinney ready to move on from Clemson? Oh how quickly things can change. Just a week ago, Tony and Andrew were discussing a Michigan team that looked flat and overmatched on the road against USC. Lifted by another strong second half against Rutgers, the Washington Huskies will carry a 5-1 record into Ann Arbor to take on the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday. Ex-Interns Jack and Luke rehash Washington's win over the Scarlet Knights before turning their attention to this upcoming weekend. Topics of discussion include Washington's recent slow starts and the challenge of playing a 9 AM Pacific Time game. On the brighter side, they discuss the likelihood of Demond Williams continuing his impressive sophomore campaign against a Wolverine pass defense that has allowed teams like Nebraska, USC, and Oklahoma to move the ball through the air. Luke also looks to continue his dominant Betting B1G season, where he currently boasts a 12-6 picking record and a six-game lead over Jack. The duo also picks a couple of players on each side of the ball that they anticipate performing well against Sherrone Moore's Wolverines on Saturday. Michigan football's game against USC was the "pendulum swing" game of the year, but unfortunately for U-M fans, the season swung in the wrong way. Michigan was clobbered by USC in the second half, losing the game 31-13 and putting the Wolverines back into must-win mode. If Michigan wants to get back into the College Football Playoff conversation, it'll probably have to be perfect from here. That starts this week with a big matchup against a Washington team that'll provide a lot of matchup problems for the Wolverines. Tony and Andrew open the show by discussing what went wrong for Michigan on the road at USC and what Sherrone Moore's team must fix before Washington. Then after the break, the guys make predictions for the Washington game and share their picks for a fun slate of college football games this weekend. - We still have a lot to talk about when it comes to last night's Game 3. The Mariners crowd showed out and Julio got them all fired up right away, but by the 3rd inning, things shifted dramatically and Toronto rattled off 12 runs in a row. It was his first in 107 at-bats, could it be just what he needs to get heated up? - E is for Ewok: Vlad Jr is the most intimidating presence in the Blue Jays lineup, but that Ewok behind the plate (Alejandro Kirk) is worrisome as well. - F is for Fresh: is there a chance that a couple weeks off were actually good for Woo and he comes out fresher than before? :45- Jedd Fisch has a big game ahead of him on Saturday; can the Huskies pull off the upset in Ann Arbor? Being part of Michigan Football means more than game-day wins. It means pressure, purpose, and lifelong brotherhood. In Season 6 Episode 4 of What Dewey Do?, Hudson Hollenbeck opens up about his life as a Michigan Wolverine, from the grind of daily training and locker room culture to big game moments, academic balance, and staying present amid NIL pressure and social media noise. He also shares the core values of Michigan Brotherhood, what he's learned from the veterans, and how competition shaped him into the man he's becoming. You'll hear honest reflections on the cost of success, financial discipline as a student-athlete, and the mindset needed to thrive on and off the field. Tune in and learn what it takes to compete with grit, lead with humility, and stay focused when the stakes are high. Hudson's story might be about football but the wisdom applies far beyond the field. Quotes: - Dewey Steffen: "Sometimes you're the hammer, sometimes the nail. You'll get hit with unexpected expenses. That's why it's smart to upgrade what you can while you can." - Hudson Hollenbeck: "Some people don't get it right away, but once you walk into a place where everyone supports each other, you want to give your all." - Hudson Hollenbeck: "Control the controllables. You can't predict when things will go wrong, but you can prepare and that applies to life and football." Hudson Hollenbeck is the starting punter and holder for the University of Michigan football team and a 2023 College Football National Champion. A former Mississippi State athlete, Hudson's story is one of grit, growth, and an unwavering belief in team culture over entitlement. After experiencing the challenges of being cut and personal loss, he found purpose at Michigan, where camaraderie, discipline, and the Michigan Brotherhood fuel his performance on and off the field. Beyond football, Hudson is the founder of "Punting Cancer Away," a campaign that honors his late mother and supports lung cancer research. It's humpday AND game day as the Mariners and Blue Jays face off in Game 3 of the ALCS and the Mariners have a job to do. With a 2-0 series lead, many people may think this series is over, but the team knows they have a job to do and there's a lot off pressure on these guys as they carry the entire history of the franchise and the hopes of the city on their backs. The one question on everyone's minds: will Toronto fans be able to take over the stadium like they do in the regular season? :30- ABCs of the Mariners - A is for Available: The Mariners have many more weapons available to them to face Toronto in the ALCS than they did the first two times these teams met up. - B is for Bieber: Shane Bieber has been an addition to the Blue Jays since we last played them and he's still got good stuff. - C is for Cal-O-Ween: Ashley carved Dumpkin #2 for the ALCS and we have now realized, there's a method to the madness. :45- The Huskies head to Michigan to face the Wolverines on Saturday at 6am and they have a tough test ahead of them. On this latest edition of Tunnel Vision USCFootball.com's Ryan Abraham, Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple-Double") and intern India Otto are back in studio taking a detailed look at USC's next opponent, the Michigan Wolverines. After Michigan's early season road loss at Oklahoma, the Wolverines have been playing better football and bringing along five-star freshman quarterback Bryce Underwood. USC had a great 4-0 start to the season before getting derailed at Illinois two weeks ago. Both teams have aspirations of making the college football playoff, but a loss on Saturday likely would derail those dreams. For the Trojans, this is easily one of the most important games in Lincoln Riley's tenure. With a bye week to get healthy and work on some of the Trojans defensive issues, it is imperative that Riley's squad comes out and plays good, clean football against one of the biggest brands in the Big Ten. USC has yet to have a signature win in its new conference and could get one if the Trojans can take care of business Saturday in the Coliseum. The crew talks about what USC was able to do during the bye week to get healthy while getting ready for Michigan, what some of the major matchups are against the Wolverines and finish the show with their score predictions for the game. In this edition of the Peristyle Podcast hosts Ryan Abraham and Connor Morrissette (aka "Triple Double") are back to discuss how the Trojans used the bye week to get healthy and prepare for one of the most important games on the schedule, a home contest against the No. 15 Michigan Wolverines. After USC fell to Illinois as a touchdown favorite, Saturday's Coliseum matchup against the powerhouse in Maize and Blue becomes an almost must-win situation for Lincoln Riley's squad, especially with road trip to South Bend on deck. The guys go over some of the key matchups for this game, including a powerful Michigan ground game that could keep Jayden Maiava and the USC offense off the field for long stretches at a time. The Wolverines also rank in the top-20 in most of the major defensive categories, including forced turnovers and passes defensed. If Michigan can slow down the Trojan run game, it could come down to Maiava outdueling the stingy UM secondary. Ryan and Connor really want to the Trojans play a clean football game, limiting the major mistakes and forcing Michigan to outplay and outscore USC in the friendly confines of the Coliseum, far away from Ann Arbor. Recorded October 8, 2024: In this episode of Best of the Bus, Will Compton and Taylor Lewan sat down with the star of Netflix’s Original Documentary, Untold: Sign Stealer, Connor Stalions — the alleged “Sign Stealer” from the Michigan Wolverines football program. Connor dove deep into his journey with the Wolverines, the art of locating and deciphering opposing teams’ signals, and the strategy he developed to help Michigan win the 2023 National Championship. He shed light on his role in the controversial “sign stealing” allegations and shared his perspective on what really happened behind the scenes. Will and Taylor also touched on the Wolverines’ dominance in the Big Ten during Stalions’ tenure, Michigan’s rivalry with Ohio State, and the inception of the Michigan Manifesto. Connor described the dark underbelly of college football and the black market dealings of “sign traders.” He denied, clarified, and introduced multiple allegations that had been thrown his way — even noting other teams in FBS college football that were still using “sign stealers” to this very day. This one was a BANGER!See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
