If this movie were any more camp, we'd have to pitch a tent and gather around a fire roasting marshmallows to watch it. If this movie were any cheesier, it would be a fondue to dip your brain in. Our hero is the least-celebrated quarterback the New York Jets never had. He travels to another galaxy with a couple of clueless companions and somehow manages to save the Earth from Ming The Merciless. A little help from future James Bond Timothy Dalton and a generous heaping of Queen music (Flash! AH-AAAHHH! What a chorus!) are just a hint of the fun to be had here. Even if you've seen it, you won't believe it. What a way to kick off the '80s!

¡Orbitales saludos, oyentes y creyentes! Videojuegos: Con The Deadly Towers of Monsters! He aquí la prueba: Comparad los posters de Doctor Strange, The Imitation Game y Star Trek Into The Darkness.

Historian John Cheng discusses the early culture of popular science fiction. Cheng's new book, Astounding Wonder: Imagining Science and Science Fiction in Interwar America, examines the origins of the genre and its community of fans. Cheng shows how pulp science fiction magazines of the 1920s and 30s reflected mainstream views of race and gender while inspiring both professional scientists and amateurs to pursue research.
