Has your sleep improved but still isn't quite there? If you're stuck at a 7/10—sleeping better, yet waking early or having occasional choppy nights—this episode is for you. Sleep physician turned sleep coach Daniel explains the final obstacle in insomnia recovery: self-criticism and the need for perfect sleep. You'll learn why grading your nights keeps insomnia alive, why your sleep was never truly “perfect,” and how letting go of judgment allows sleep to settle naturally. This shift—from fixing sleep to trusting it—is often what moves people past the plateau and into calmer, more peaceful nights. Thank you for joining us for our 2nd Cabral HouseCall of the weekend!   I'm looking forward to sharing with you some of our community's questions that have come in over the past few weeks…   Pati: how do you lower and keep cholesterol low during early menopause and when you have Familial Hypercholesterolemia. I have 315 total /240 LDL/70HDL/50 Trig. I am 5.4 height, 120lb and gluten free and dairy free for 13yrs and eat very low carbs and sugar. Never taken statins because they make my joints hurt but had high cholesterol for years but 300 was my highest. What can I take that can help and what should i eat. Thank you Pati      Anonymous: Hi Dr. Cabral. Just wanted to confirm. Podcast 3576 reviewed a PubMed study that gave a minimum daily dosage of 10,800 FU to obtain desired results. The podcast gave me the impression that your supplement exceeded the 10,800 FU/day since only the 20,000 FU number was given. However, 3 plus does per day would be needed? Please can you clarify? Proteolytic Enzyme supplement. Natto Serving dosage on label is - (20,000 FU/g) 150mg My understanding is Natto amount is 3,000 FU 20,000 FU/g x .150g =3,000 Is this correct?      Ashley: Hi Dr. Cabral, I have a detox meal timing question for you. When I did my last set of the big 5 labs, my health coach told me that it would be OK for me to eat at 8 and 3 instead of 11:30 and 6:30 as I feel much better when I fuel my body in the morning. When I don't, I feel ravenous in the evening. However, the admin in the FB group disagreed and said I shouldn't do that. Can you please clarify and let me know how big of a difference it makes to eat later instead of earlier? I feel like if eating earlier in the day helps me actually stick to the foods I'm supposed to eat and I'm still fasting for the same lengths of time that  it would be OK. If it's a bigger deal than I realize, will you please explain the reasoning? Thanks so much!      Tommy: Hi Dr. C, I'm an IHP who's come a long way with healing, but I feel stuck for the remainder. I've attempted a detox only once in my life. After the 4th day I was so wiped out that I couldn't really even work. I've also got high heavy metals but the protocol causes me such histamine reactions (even at a lower dose) that I just can't see it through. I feel stuck, I play for a soccer team but even training is too hard on my nervous system and leaves me wired. Maybe I should just try gentler detox like sauna and castor oil packs but I'm not sure it will be enough, and the sauna may just deplete me further. I've suffered so much with health and I'm in a better place, but still much work left to do.      Lou: Hi Dr. Cabral, I am 15 and listen to your podcast every morning on the way to school with my mom. I was wondering, what would you say are your 5 favorite books? They dont have to be health books. thanks, Lou    Thank you for tuning into this weekend's Cabral HouseCalls and be sure to check back tomorrow for our Mindset & Motivation Monday show to get your week started off right!   - - - Show Notes and Resources: StephenCabral.com/3670 - - - Get a FREE Copy of Dr. Cabral's Book: The Rain Barrel Effect - - - Join the Community & Get Your Questions Answered: CabralSupportGroup.com - - - Dr. Cabral's Most Popular At-Home Lab Tests: > Complete Minerals & Metals Test (Test for mineral imbalances & heavy metal toxicity) - - - > Complete Candida, Metabolic & Vitamins Test (Test for 75 biomarkers including yeast & bacterial gut overgrowth, as well as vitamin levels) - - - > Complete Stress, Mood & Metabolism Test (Discover your complete thyroid, adrenal, hormone, vitamin D & insulin levels) - - - > Complete Food Sensitivity Test (Find out your hidden food sensitivities) - - - > Complete Omega-3 & Inflammation Test (Discover your levels of inflammation related to your omega-6 to omega-3 levels) - - - Get Your Question Answered On An Upcoming HouseCall: StephenCabral.com/askcabral - - - Would You Take 30 Seconds To Rate & Review The Cabral Concept? What does it really mean to leave the sleep struggle for good? In Mining the Comments, Daniel breaks down a powerful insight shared by Linnea, a member of our community. Her comment captures a major breakthrough in understanding what “leaving the struggle” truly means when it comes to insomnia, anxiety, and difficult nights. Rather than perfect sleep or never feeling anxious, leaving the struggle is about changing how we respond to choppy nights, tired days, and anxious thoughts. Linnea realized that when we stop trying to control sleep and stop reacting to every setback, the struggle itself begins to fade. You'll learn: Why leaving the struggle does not mean perfect sleep every night How acceptance interrupts the cycle of insomnia and anxiety What Daniel means by “immunity” to sleep struggles How over-efforting, monitoring, and safety behaviors keep sleep problems going Why peace of mind comes from letting go, not fixing This conversation is filled with hope, clarity, and encouragement for anyone navigating insomnia or sleep anxiety.

Why do sleep supplements, routines, trackers, and techniques so often fail to fix insomnia? In this episode, sleep physician-turned-sleep coach Daniel explains a powerful truth most people never hear. Sleep is a passive process. Insomnia is an active process. If you are trying to force sleep through products, habits, breathing, exercise, tracking, or mental control, you may be unintentionally keeping insomnia alive. This episode breaks down how insomnia is maintained by effort, control, and avoidance, why common sleep solutions backfire, and how letting go of sleep effort allows natural sleep to return. This teaching is especially helpful for high-functioning, driven individuals who can solve almost anything except sleep. In this episode of Insomnia Insight, Coach Daniel explores one of the most powerful tools for ending the insomnia–anxiety loop: the pause button. If you've found yourself stuck in a cycle of poor sleep, stress, and constant worry about both, this episode will bring clarity. Coach Daniel explains how insomnia and anxiety aren't cycles by themselves—they become cycles when we respond to normal experiences (like a choppy night or a worried thought) with efforts to control, prevent, or suppress them. And paradoxically, it's that very effort that keeps the struggle going. Inspired by a conversation inside the Insomnia Immunity Program, Coach Daniel breaks down: Why a single night of poor sleep or a moment of anxiety isn't a cycle How our automatic attempts to fix or stop discomfort actually create the loop What the “pause button” really is and why it changes everything How simply observing your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors opens the door to a new option Why non-response (acceptance, floating, befriending) allows the cycle to fade on its own How peaceful sleep returns when effort and control fall away If you're new here and curious to learn more, our FREE video course, The Festival of Understanding, is the perfect place to start. In this Mining the Comments episode, Daniel responds to a heartfelt series of questions from community member happycharhar5750 about OCD, insomnia, and why these struggles often feel so similar. Daniel breaks down how both OCD and insomnia begin with the same mechanism—stress, a “threatened state” of mind, and a moment of mislabeling something normal (like wakefulness or a worried thought) as dangerous. From there, he explores why these struggles can shift themes, why some people are more prone to them, and why none of this means anything is “wrong” with your brain.-- If you're new here and curious to learn more, our FREE video course, The Festival of Understanding, is the perfect place to start. #EP322 Today on the Clean Power Hour, we dive into one of the biggest bottlenecks strangling the clean energy transition: the slow, messy world of zoning, permitting, and early-stage development. Our guests are Julia Wu and Anuj Saigal, co-founders of Spark AI, a Y Combinator-backed platform that has ingested and summarized nearly every zoning code, ordinance, and permitting pathway in the United States.Julia Wu is CEO and co-founder of Spark AI. She's a software engineer who cut her teeth at Microsoft, Apple (working on Siri), and Brex before founding Spark. Her background spans AI, natural language processing, and financial technology.Anuj Saigal is the co-founder of Spark AI and a veteran of the energy sector since 2010. He worked at the Department of Energy Loan Programs Office during the Obama administration, then moved through SunEdison, EVgo, and Natto (a video AI telematics company). This isn't the best diet for heart health! For a healthy heart, prioritize nutrient-dense foods that contain the active form of vitamin A, heme iron, vitamin B12, omega-3 fatty acids, zinc, and high-quality complete protein. Here are the top 10 superfoods for your heart!1. Red meatI'm sure you're surprised to see this on the list! Grass-fed red meat contains high-quality amino acids that support the mitochondria in the heart. It's also a potent source of CoQ10, stearic acid, carnitine, carnosine, zinc, and vitamin B12. 2. Butter Grass-fed butter is very healthy for your heart! It's loaded with vitamin K2, which helps remove calcium from the arteries. It also contains butyrate, CLA, the active form of vitamin A, and stearic acid.3. Egg yolkEgg yolks are rich in choline, which helps prevent a fatty liver. Liver fat can spill over into the heart in the form of epicardial fat. Egg yolks also contain vitamin K2 and carotenoids. 4. CheeseRaw, aged cheese is rich in vitamin K2 and contains natural ACE inhibitors, which help support healthy blood pressure.5. Shellfish Oysters, mussels, and clams are excellent sources of omega-3 fatty acids and various trace minerals, including zinc, copper, iron, and magnesium.6. Organ meatsGrass-fed, grass-finished liver and other organ meats contain omega-3s, CoQ10, vitamin A, B12, and trace minerals like copper. You can also consume cod liver for the same benefits! 7. Fermented foodsFoods such as sauerkraut, kimchi, kefir, and natto are rich in vitamin K2. Natto contains nattokinase, which helps support healthy blood pressure.8. Sea salt Sea salt contains 80 to 90 different minerals. Low sodium levels can lead to high blood pressure and increased cortisol levels.9. Fatty fish Wild-caught salmon, sardines, anchovies, and mackerel are potent sources of omega-3 fatty acids.10. Collagen Bone broth and the skin of chicken and fish are excellent sources of collagen. Ten percent of the collagen you consume is in the form of peptide chains, which can help the body repair collagenous structures in the body.Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio:Dr. Berg, age 60, is a chiropractor who specializes in Healthy Ketosis & Intermittent Fasting. After a long period of suppressed emotional stress, his nervous system became stuck in hypervigilance, eventually leading to burnout and severe sleep disruption. Damien describes trying many “fixes”—from sleep aids to strict CBT-I rules—that only increased pressure and kept the struggle going. His recovery began when he paired deeper inner work with a psychotherapist and the gentle, non-controlling approach taught at The Sleep Coach School. By reconnecting with a sense of safety and allowing his body to soften out of the fight-or-flight cycle, Damien finally experienced lasting, peaceful sleep.
