In episode 160, we're excited to welcome Monica Talan of CryptoConexión and WAGMI LatAm, two incredible projects focused on catalyzing the Web3 movement in Latin America. We discuss why Latin America has been such an exciting hub for innovation, how Web3 can create economic and social inclusion in the region, some of the most exciting projects coming out of Latin America, and much more. --Three Key Takeaways--One of the biggest barriers to accessing Web3 for non-English speakers in a lack of resources and educational materials in their language. The importance of this cannot be understated, so it's vital that education and onboarding projects (including Crypto Altruism) work to offer their content in multiple languages.Hackathons are an incredible tool for catalyzing innovation, however they have traditionally been focused on the development of software. There can be a lot of value in expanding the concept and culture of hackathons to other disciplines including education, international development, public goods, etc., to ensure diverse individuals can benefit from hackathons.A combination of great leaders, a focus on the ethos of Web3, projects centered around accessibility and social impact, and a pre-existing foundation of innovation make Latin America a great place for building and experimenting in Web3.--Full shownotes with links available at--https://www.cryptoaltruism.org/blog/crypto-altruism-podcast-episode-160-cryptoconexion-wagmi-latam-catalyzing-the-next-generation-of-web3-innovators-in-latin-america--Support us with a Fiat or Crypto contribution--Learn more at cryptoaltruism.org/supportus--This episode was recorded on Zencastr!--Interested in starting your own podcast? Rayhaneh Sharif-Askary  is formerly an  Ultra UBS tradFI hustler turned crypto boss At Grayscale Investments, with a penchant for collaborative regulation, investment products that access that digital economy, and mid to advanced level icy skiing. We met in the airport lounge en route to Burkina Faso when she kindly offered me a breath mint and glass cleaner for my J12, neither of which I have returned. We immediately shared a bond of traditional leveraged Financed Sales, getting lost in the Metaverse, Wagner Operas  and subtly recognizing each other's pedigreed pseudo ivy league existences. We would be long time friends. Allegedly.  I have a lot to learn from Ray, she is one of the few women leaders in crypto who strikes critical balance of a nurturing Managing Director with a side order of the perfect ingredients  of fear and obsession without being disturbing. It's a common thread that everyone in the digital asset space holds a deeply unhealthy obsession with their CEO or counter dauphine. I could go on and on about premiums and discounts and the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust and the OJ lawsuit. But I take a pause to leverage my SOL and let Ray explain. In the meantime, I will  focus on my strengths of asking rappers for financial advice and educating the masses thru humor and selective fact checking. In sum, Grayscale is THE crypto asset manager, they offer 18  products, notably GBTC, and sued the SEC when it rejected its transition into an ETF.  According to Ray and court records that I didn't read, the negotiations are going tremendously as the application is currently being reviewed; WAGMI.  Ray is enviously clear on her vision for Grayscale and her team both in and out of Grayscale Decentraland, which in Ray's world is designed  with neo gothic / mid century furniture giving a Joan Didion meets Diana Vreeland aesthetic.  Ray drops vital liquid gold bars of advice on how to be a powerful, elegant yet woman in the workplace,  advice I wish I didn't need as I was not planning on working and living off of my dwindling Filecoin ICO, and alimony. Alas, if you picked up anything from this episode is that Grayscale Bitcoin Trust is one of the first securities solely and passively invested in Bitcoin (“BTC”) that enables investors to gain exposure to BTC in the form of a security while avoiding the challenges of buying, storing, and safekeeping BTC, directly and this episode and anything we say is not not not financial advice. #GlitterLedger #WomenInCrypto #GBTC #SeeYouSeason3 #SeeYouInCourt

On this episode of Rehash, we speak with Yancey Strickler about the problems he sees with the creator economy and why onchain release clubs are a better framing for creative and collaborative work, and we discuss what a post-capitalist world might look like. Yancey is the co-founder of Metalabel and Kickstarter. We start by envisioning what a post-capitalist world might look like and discussing how practical this model is in the world as we know it today. A lot of this part of the conversation stems from an article he wrote back in 2019 called Post-Capitalism for Realists, as well as his book, This Could Be Our Future. We more or less agree that while it sounds really nice and idyllic to live in a world where we can all pursue our passions and fully live out our values without worrying about how we're going to make money from everything we do, the reality is that we all need money to survive, and things are expensive, and it's therefore an unavoidable part of life (at least in the U.S. and western world) to consider how your passions or objectives can be monetized and to dispense with activities that don't monetize or at least spend a much smaller amount of your time on non-profit generating activities. From there, we dive deeper into a conversation around the creator economy - a term that Yancey actually isn't too fond of, and he explains why in this episode. He prefers to use a framing more analogous to release clubs or labels when thinking about creator collaboration and co-creation.Even though the creator economy is probably one of our most talked about topics on this season of Rehash, I really appreciate that each of our guests has brought a different perspective to the table. The lens through which Yancey views the creator economy is certainly a unique one, and I'd love to hear what you think after listening to this episode.Come find us on Twitter or Discord, or write us at rehashweb3@gmail.com and let us know what you think the future of the creator economy will look like. NFT, BTC, DAO, ETH, WAGMI, HODL. It would have been hard to avoid these acronyms only a year ago. The hype around cryptocurrencies and blockchain art was almost as annoying as the glee with which crypto sceptics welcomed the sudden onset of the crypto winter. But for all the popularity of Bored Apes and Ponzi scheme stories, there seems to have been little serious engagement with the philosophical, political, and aesthetic implications of the blockchain. The academy appears to have dismissed the crypto world out of hand, citing its financial unviability and the deeply ‘problematic' philosophical foundations of its technology. Rhea Myers is a crypto artist, writer, and hacker who searches for faces in cryptographic hashes, follows a day in the life of a young shibe in the year 2032, and patiently explains why all art should be destructively uploaded to the blockchain. Her engagement in the technical history and debates in blockchain technology is complemented by a broader sense of the crypto movement and the artistic and political sensibilities that accompanied its ascendancy. Remodelling the tropes of conceptual art and net art to explore what blockchain technology reveals about our concepts of value, culture and currency, Myers's work has become required viewing for anyone interested in the future of art, consensus, law, and collectivity. Rhea Myers speaks to Pierre d'Alancaisez about art's role in mapping and shaping the emergent properties of blockchain technologies, the crypto-libertarian, anarchy-capitalist nexus, and the enduring legacy of the conceptual art movement. Proof of Work brings together annotated presentations of Myers's blockchain artworks with essays, reviews, and fictions—a sustained critical encounter between the cultures and histories of the artworld and crypto-utopianism, technically accomplished but always generously demystifying and often mischievous. Join us as we interview Ian Bentley (CEO) and Scott Herman (Director of Talent Acquisition) of WAGMI Games! WAGMI Defense is taking a slightly different approach than the crypto games that have launched over the past year. Instead of relying on complicated tokenomics, play to earn and expensive NFTs and land, WAGMI is taking the KISS principal (Keep It Simple Stupid) and modeling their mobile responsive tower defense game after traditional gaming companies, only with web 3 elements that make it more interesting to players (in-game assets are owned by the gamer in the form of NFTs and a PvP skill based contest system will be rolled out as well). Our interview focuses on WAGMI games and the future of video games in Web3! If you enjoyed this video, please make sure to Like and Subscribe! Website: https://www.wagmigame.ioInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/wagmigameTwitter: https://twitter.com/WagmiGameCoDownload the Lolli extension to earn Bitcoin back on your online purchases. https://lolli.com/share/TUzemVnZCVDonation AddressesVEVE: @comicsandcryptoGEMS: e6085dd1-cc0e-45c7-b6c7-b02a566979bdETH: comicsandcrypto.ethWAX: comicscryptoMusic is by NineFingerInstagram: NineFinger999You can also follow us on Twitter and Instagram: @ComicsandCrypto
