Phil and Jake are joined by Phil's sister Alexa Green to rank hard seltzer, kids in restaurants, and anti-diarrhea medicine on the List of Every Damn Thing. If you have something to add to the list, email it to list@everydamnthing.net (or get at us on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook).SHOW NOTES: The City of Sebastopol, California has nothing on its official website about Russian settlement history. Phil is maybe thinking of Fort Ross when he tells the story of Russian settlers being chased off by gophers. Here's the article where Jake got most of his information about Zima. Here's a TV ad for Crystal Pepsi from 1993 featuring “Right Now” by Van Halen. We talk about a lot of other beverages in the episode, including malt liquor, White Claw, craft beer, Mike's Hard Lemonade, New York Seltzer, hard kombucha, non-alcoholic sparkling water, cold brew shandy and apple juice. As for the sources of info on hard seltzer sales dropping, which Phil says on-mic he'd put in the show notes... Phil mostly half-read headlines and parroted them, and is pretending he knows what he's talking about. Here's a story that goes into it a little bit. Journalists seem to want the trend to be over but maybe it's just a permanent part of our lives now like constant wood smoke in the fall. The website for Biergarten in San Francisco is very basic. They seem to be closed until the pandemic is really really over, which is weird because it's an all-outdoor space. Casa Bonita in Denver seems to still be currently closed as well, but they are offering free backstage tours. The restaurant has recently been purchased by the creators of South Park who, like Jake, are from Colorado. In England diarrhea is spelled "diarrhoea" It's awful just bottom tier spelling. The Bristol stool scale is the standard method for stool. “The Green, Green Grass of Home” is a bona fide standard, mostly in the realm of Country Music. The Tom Jones version is the one Alexa remembers best. Jake and Phil are more familiar with Merle Haggard's take of the song. Jake correctly surmises that George Jones recorded the song as well. It has also been performed by Porter Wagoner, Jerry Lee Lewis, Charley Pride, Dean Martin, Johnny Cash, Johnny Paycheck, Joan Baez, The Grateful Dead, Elvis Presley, Gram Parsons & The Flying Burrito Brothers, Kenny Rogers, Nick Cave and many others. Welcome to another episode of Conversation on Tap! In this episode of Conversation on Tap, Jose is joined once again by his brother Jesse in order to talk about upcoming comic book movies. Before they get started, Jose drank some delicious Hoppy Poppy by Figueroa Mountain Brew, while Jesse drank a New York Seltzer. As we moved into the FRED Talks, Jesse talked about his preference for DVDs and Blu-Rays over streaming devices, while Jose talked about how the Vatican is the world's smallest sovereign nation. In the main segment of the show, Jesse and Jose talked about some comic book movie updates. Unfortunately, due to Jose's busy schedule, this episode was delayed in posting by a couple of weeks, so some of the news is a bit "old," but we nonetheless enjoyed the conversation. So, we began by breaking down the Captain Marvel trailer, then segued into the images of Joaquin Phoenix's Joker, which looked a bit like Cesar Romero meets John Wayne Gacy. We then spent a good deal of time talking about the impending departure of Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill from the DC movie universe. Once again, DC really shows how they can take perfectly good comic book characters and completely destroy them! In the last segment, Jesse talked about LA Beast's YouTube Channel about competitive eating, while Jose talked about Frasier. We look forward to next week's episode, which will be on food. Thank you for your patience and for continuing to listen to our show! Cheers!

In the decades since its introduction in 1935, Jägermeister has earned a reputation as an iconic staple of boozy nights out and hard partying. So why is the German liqueur brand now embracing a softer side of its heritage and history? In an interview included in this episode of Taste Radio, Jeff Popkin, the CEO of Mast-Jägermeister U.S., explained why the brand, while still wildly popular as a shot, is attempting to win over new consumers, broaden its appeal and, ultimately, generate new sales by reframing itself as a high-quality liqueur that can be enjoyed in a variety of occasions. Popkin, who’s been at the forefront of several emerging non-alcoholic beverage trends as an executive with Red Bull and Vita Coco, is leading a careful effort to maintain Jägermeister’s valuable core identity during the repositioning. “If there’s a party, Jägermeister is there in the U.S. today -- no question about that,” he said. “There’s no white knuckles to get the story out there and change it. It’s all going to happen within the natural footprint of Jägermeister.” Also included in this episode: An interview with Jeanette Ogden, a food blogger and social media maven known for her popular Instagram account, Shutthekaleup. We sat down with Ogden at Natural Products Expo West 2018 and discussed her journey as an influencer, how she cultivates her online personality and her approach to building an authentic relationship with natural food and beverage brands. This episode also includes an interview with the co-founders of The Coconut Cult, an acclaimed vegan coconut-based yogurt. Noah Simon-Waddell and James Harkin spoke about their approach to building a lifestyle brand and how they’ve established a thriving community of supporters and followers via social media. This episode is presented by Symrise Califormulations. Show notes: 1:35: Potent Potables -- The hosts chat about interesting libations and and tasty treats sent to the office over the past couple weeks, including Spindrift, Smart Sweets, Mike's Mighty Good Craft Ramen, CideRoad, Hello Water, Hal's New York Seltzer and Alter Eco. 10:53: Interview: Jeff Popkin, CEO, Mast-Jägermeister U.S. -- A veteran beverage executive who led sales for Red Bull and was the CEO of Vita Coco - U.S., Jeff Popkin is currently at the helm of another iconic brand: Jägermeister. In an interview recorded at its headquarters in White Plains, N.Y., Popkin discussed the company’s efforts to spur new sales by reframing Jägermeister as a brand to “celebrate the best moments of your life,” while maintaining its core identity and the importance of innovation for CPG brands, noting that “when you look at the attention span of a consumer… you’ve got to be quick and you’ve got to be dynamic.” 38:32: Interview: Jeannette Ogden, Founder, Shutthekaleup -- A leading influencer in the worlds of fitness, wellness and natural foods, Jeannette Ogden has over 260,000 followers of her Instagram account, Shutthekaleup. The platform is where she, her husband AJ and son Elliot -- aka "Bub" -- share their daily eats, drinks, workouts and adventures. Along the way, she shares recommendations of brands and products and explains how they fit into a healthy lifestyle. We sat down with Ogden at Natural Products Expo West 2018 and talked about her journey as influencer, how she cultivates her online personality and her approach to working with natural food and beverage brands. 1:02:39: Interview: Noah Simon-Waddell & James Harkin, Co-Founders, The Coconut Cult -- A darling of the influencer world, The Coconut Cult markets a vegan coconut yogurt that’s stocked at high-end health food stores along the coasts. Despite its premium price -- $25 for a 16 oz. jar -- the brand has amassed a cult-like following among its consumers. Co-founders Noah Simon-Waddell and James Harkin explained how their efforts to create experiential moments for consumers fits with their intent “to create a religion, essentially,” out of the brand.

A very special mega-sized episode! Sonoma County comedians Steve Ausburne and Casey Williams are happy to be back. Steve says he won't sing anymore. We'll see how that lasts. The beauty of the percent sign is broken down. The boys compare Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney's hit Ebony and Ivory to the friction between Android and iPhone users. Tragedy struck last week as Steve was stuck in “Top Stories” on his Facebook newsfeed for an entire day. Class election stories are traded. Eventually the whiskey is tasted (around minute 30) and they re-cast The Golden Girls in a new feature film. The triumphant return of New York Seltzer is lauded. Another victory for the gay community last week as Casey gets an Email from one of his son's teachers. Casey talks about his Norwegian Getaway Cruise and cruise-people problems. Too Close for Comfort comes up so naturally that segues into Knight Rider. Obviously both Michael Knight and Garth Algar are cast as Batman in various scenarios. More whiskey! Spandau Ballet is featured in a “Where are They Now” segment that goes nowhere but into a discussion on one hit wonders. Ever wonder how to smoke an ice ball? The architects of the Death Star are taken to task while The Galactic Empire is compared to The Brits in their invasion techniques. Water Slides: Are they Fun? Casey shares a story of how he cheated death at Atlantis in the Bahamas, and Steve one-ups him with his mad Contra skills.
