Jon couldn't swim yet. Stan got stuck in a muddy pond and turned in a tremendously vivid performance as a kid attempting not to drown.His parents met in Baltimore, where his father ran a burlesque theater and his mom put some vahs in her dance voom. In search of reinvention, they moved to California where Stan and his brother Barry were born and raised. With an ample dose of show biz in his blood, Stan felt at home from the first moment he stepped onto a set.He shares the story of his big break at just six years old on The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet. Stan was working as a neighborhood kid extra when Ozzie threw him a line and he delivered. Stan appeared on ten episodes of the show, until he landed My Three Sons and his brother Barry took over. Stan never knew his grandfathers and Bill did not have kids. Celebrate three years of Bring Me The Axe with us as we continue our annual tradition of a deep dive into the world of George A. Romero and his iconic living dead series. For our last two anniversaries we featured Dawn of the Dead and Night of the Living Dead so it only makes sense that close out year three with the highly divisive (and Bryan's favorite), Day of the Dead.  Taking place late in the zombie plague, a motley crew of scientists and military take shelter in an underground bunker, researching the cause and a possible solution to the problem at hand: mankind being driven to the brink of extinction against a worldwide zombie holocaust. Tensions are high, supplies are low, and morale is lower as the operation cracks at the seams. One scientist thinks he has a solution, demonstrated by his domesticated pet zombie, Bub. Released in 1985 as the third film in a three picture deal with United Film Distribution Company, Romero's epic vision of a horror movie, "Gone With The Wind With Zombies", to quote Romero, had to be scaled back significantly when Romero refused UFDC's mandate for an R-rated movie, insisting instead on a hyper-violent, gory spectacle. The result is languid, talky character drama cast with wild over-actors and punctuated by grisly violence and zombie carnage. It's Romero at his most conflicted but Tom Savini at his absolute best. Beat Hächler, Direktor des Alpinen Museums Bern, trifft auf Fahrlehrerin Nuran Serifi. Bei Dani Fohrler geben die beiden Einblick in ihr Leben. Nuran Serifi, (44) Fahrlehrerin Nuran Serifi kam im Alter von acht Jahren gemeinsam mit ihren Eltern und drei Geschwistern von Mazedonien nach Ostermundigen in die Schweiz. Nach einer anspruchsvollen Schulzeit absolvierte sie eine Lehre als Detailhandelsangestellte im Schuhverkauf. Sie war gerade volljährig, als sie als erstes Mitglied ihrer Familie den Schweizer Pass erwarb. Nuran war immer schon eine Fragende: Bereits in jungen Jahren setzte sie sich kritisch mit gesellschaftlichen und religiösen Fragen auseinander. Aufgewachsen als Sunnitin, entschied sie sich später bewusst für das Schiitentum. Mit knapp 30 Jahren, nach der Geburt ihres zweiten Sohnes, begann sie ein Kopftuch zu tragen. Die Reaktionen darauf machten ein Weiterarbeiten im Verkauf unmöglich. Aus ihrer Leidenschaft für das Autofahren entwickelte sie dann einen neuen beruflichen Weg: Sie liess sich zur Fahrlehrerin ausbilden und gründete eine eigene Fahrschule. Heute ist Nuran Serifi Mutter von drei Kindern und selbständige Unternehmerin. Beat Hächler, (64) Direktor des ALPS, Alpines Museum der Schweiz, Bern Für Beat Hächler sind Berge mehr als Landschaft – sie sind ein emotionaler Resonanzraum. Persönlich hat es ihm vor allem das Tessin angetan: Dort ist er oft zu Fuss unterwegs, sammelt Pilze oder bereitet draussen ein Fondue zu. In einer Journalistenfamilie aufgewachsen, suchte er schon als Bub Öffentlichkeit und Form: Er gab eine eigene Schülerzeitung heraus und entwickelte früh ein Gespür für Geschichten. Studiert hat er Geschichte, Deutsch und Journalistik. Während dieser Zeit lebte er bei einer Verwandten in einer Mansarde – in genau diesem Haus (auf einer anderen Etage) wohnt er bis heute. Vom Journalismus wechselte er zum «Stapferhaus», Lenzburg. Während 18 Jahren kuratierte er dort prägende Ausstellungen und machte das Haus zu einem Ort gesellschaftlicher Debatten. Mit dem Auftrag, das Alpine Museum der Schweiz in Bern neu zu positionieren, übernahm Beat Hächler die Direktion. Mit dem Jahr 2025 geht für das Aschaffenburger Medienhaus Main-Echo ein Jubiläumsjahr zu Ende: Vor 80 Jahren wurde die Zeitung gegründet, am 24. November 1945 ist das erste Main-Echo erschienen. Main-Echo-Altverleger Klaus Eymann war damals ein Bub von elf Jahren – und lange, bevor der heute 91-Jährige die Geschicke des Main-Echos lenkte, sah er das Aschaffenburger Schloss brennen. Die bekannte Basler Polizistin und «iCop» Tosca Stucki trifft auf den Doyen der Basler Theaterszene und Filmregisseur Helmut Förnbacher. Bei Christian Zeugin geben die beiden Einblick in ihr Leben. Tosca Stucki – Zwischen Streifendienst, Social Media und Dancefloor Tosca Stucki wuchs im Kleinbasel in einem binationalen Elternhaus auf, spielte Waldhorn und träumte vom Tanzen – ein Traum, den sie als Tänzerin auf Tournee mit DJ BoBo auch verwirklichte. Mit 20 Jahren fand sie zur Polizei, wo sie heute als Wachtmeisterin mit besonderen Aufgaben nicht nur auf Patrouille geht, sondern als «iCop» auf Social Media Einblicke in den Polizeialltag gewährt. Die zweifache Mutter ist mit dem FCB-Sportdirektor Daniel Stucki verheiratet und beweist täglich, dass Uniform und Empathie, Disziplin und Hiphop keine Gegensätze sein müssen. ________________________________________ Helmut Förnbacher – Zwischen Hollywood, Zoo und den Brettern, die die Welt bedeuten Helmut Förnbacher wuchs als Einzelkind in Basel auf, assistierte als Bub im «Zolli» bei der Aufzucht von Schimpansen und fand seine Bestimmung schliesslich im Theater. Er blickt auf eine internationale Karriere zurück: Er drehte in Hollywood, war ein Gesicht des jungen deutschen Films und führte bei unzähligen «Tatort»-Folgen und Serienklassikern Regie. Über Jahrzehnte prägte er mit seiner eigenen «Theater Company» im Badischen Bahnhof die Basler Kulturlandschaft. Attending the Bonneville Motorcycle Speed Trials has been a bucket list event for us, so when an opportunity came up we took it. Now you might think Bonneville is all about speed, and for the most part it is, but what was most amazing was the community (or the salt family as we came to learn). You'll find everything from 50cc antique bikes to 3000cc fully shrouded custom built streamliners, and everything in between. We talked with some of the racers, like Chris Rivas who pilots the Bub 7 Streamliner, and James Hammond on his BMW S1000R that is also his street bike. We also talked to the legend Denis Manning, who built the Bub 7, specifically about the 3000cc 4 cylinder V-twin motor that he designed and built himself. We talked to volunteers Edwin, Larry, Sergio and Alan, and learn more about the scrutineering process, as well as how all of the bikes are categorized. We also recorded some of the sounds of Bonneville, like the rider's meeting, announcements, and bike inspections so that you could get a sense of what it's like to be there yourself.
