Dick has recently gone live with his new Blowing The Whistle site on the Substack platform! Subscribe to Dick & help support his work. Arctic is under threat as the ice melts, polar bears are nearing elimination, whales etc.. The substack platform allows writers to draft material without censorship from publishers. Dick feels the recent drone scare is another government created false flag. After Dick started writing about the drones, whistleblowers started to comment on his posts. Some of these drones are the size of SUVs. Dropping tennis balls? What is going on? Thousands of reports have been coming in from the East & West coasts, people have been scared! Dr. Steven Greer has been bringing whistleblowers to the fore, exposing lies & secrets. Huge disclosures of government secrets will be happening soon! A team of special forces guys have gone rogue, using Dr. Greer as an advisor. Dr. Greer thinks the drones scare is a diversion. The drones are actually originating from military bases. Bill Kelly, JFK researcher, got a hold of Dick to tell him about the operation he’d participated in. Living in the area, Bill learned how to drop bombs on tanks during these training exercises in NJ. Are the drones searching for a broken arrow? Are they searching for a nuclear weapon? Len & Dick speculate on what might actually be happening. Remember Operation Northwoods? Why isn't the military coming out with some sort of an explanation for the public? Dick met Rob Reiner in 2016 & Rob quickly wanted to collaborate on a podcast project together. After working on this project for over a year, their project became a 10 part series on iHeart. Who Killed JFK? - Apple Podcasts The show was hugely popular with 9.5 million downloads! A lot of young people have no idea about JFK history, but many downloaded the podcasts. Dick first met Jesse Ventura by accident in Mexico, on the Baja peninsula. Jesse & Dick started to collaborate shortly after their initial meeting, publishing 5 books together. Youtube pulled several of the videos where Jesse & Dick discussed JFK assassination information. Len asks Dick to name four possible collaborators of the JFK assassination. Who were Jack’s enemies? In 1975 Dick wrote an article for the Village Voice on Prof. Popkin who stated he’d solved the murder. Shortly after, Dick received an anonymous message about the Nazi General. Was General Charles Willoughby, born Adolph C. Weidenbach in Germany, connected to JFK’s death? Willoughby was in WWI, WWII & the Korea War under McArthur. He was a Spy Master. Willoughby hated JFK with a passion. Len was told that Paul Helliwell was the head of the assassination organization Paul Lional Edward Helliwell was an American lawyer, banker, OSS official, and CIA officer Len asks Dick about his opinion of John Armstrong's claim that there are at least two Oswalds. Dick feels John Armstrong is really onto something! Calls him a fantastic researcher! Doubles are often used in the spy world. Author James Douglass noted there were TWO men who were arrested in The Texas Theatre in Dallas. Employees at The Texas Theatre observed that the two men looked identical! Who was the 2nd Oswald? Eliot Popkin is an award-winning singer-songwriter, a business and personal development coach, and the author of Circle: Letters to My Younger Self . In addition to his own songs, he has written music for film, television, commercials, and other artists. However, despite this success, life hasn't always been easy for Eliot. As a survivor of child abuse, he had to overcome a great deal and rediscover himself several times in order to become the man he is today. Now, Eliot is channeling the wisdom he has gained into his memoir, Circle. Eliot takes readers on a journey from his boyhood as an abused, unhappy, frightened child to adulthood, where he learned to recognize, honor, and trust all the gifts life has bestowed on him. A beautiful memoir which inspires readers on their journey of self-discovery, growth and forgiveness, Circle is for everyone who has a dream, anyone who ever felt too afraid to step out on faith and execute a passion in life, and anyone who was too reserved to share their gifts with the world. In this episode, Dr. Popkin discusses his riveting book "Facing Racial Revolution: Eyewitness Accounts of the Haitian Insurrection." We discussed the underdeveloped state of French scholarship on the Haitian Revolution, the controversial accounts of white colonial survivors, and the critical role of literacy and correspondence in maintaining the slave regime. The Haitian revolution represented the scales of power tipping in an unexpected direction. For the first time in Atlantic history, blacks wielded control over the lives of whites, giving rise to the then unheard of publication of white captivity narratives. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/negmawonpodcast/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/negmawonpodcast/support

Still: A Michael J. Fox Movie explores the life of actor Michael J. Fox in his own words. It's a moving and heartfelt documentary as he talks about his rise to fame in the 1980's with the TV show Family Ties, the Back to the Future movies, and what his life is like living with Parkinson's Disease. Fox's story is told with personal interviews, archival footage and reenactments. Cinematographers C. Kim Miles, Julia Liu and Clair Popkin all worked separately on different portions of Still, and all three are Emmy-nominated for their work on the documentary. Julia served as the primary DP for the interviews with Fox, discussing the look with director Davis Guggenheim. They storyboarded the interviews, including shots and lighting, with ideas for moods to evoke different parts of Michael's life. Guggenheim wanted most of the interviews to feel like they were locked off, just like the title. It provided a contrast to the archival footage, where Fox is incredibly acrobatic and frenetic. The interview and b-roll of present-day portions of Fox's life were not completely verite- Julia would approach each action with a plan, and do a few takes. DP Clair Popkin joined the team when Still already had edited raw assemblies of scenes with archival footage cut in. It provided him with a clear idea of how to match and transition interview scenes in and out of the archival video clips. Clair had worked with Guggenheim on several documentary projects in the past, and he was able to step in and shoot the interview portions Julia wasn't available for. Finally, cinematographer C. Kim Miles shot all of the reenactment portions of Still. He met with Guggenheim, who he considers to be the king of planning, but also flexible enough to shoot off the cuff on the day. Since the reenactments came in at the end of the process, Kim found it tremendously helpful to see the rough cut and match the look. He was able to create a softer, more idyllic look for Fox's past memories. Kim and the crew spent 20 days shooting the reenactments, and Fox personally thanked everyone for their part in telling his story. For both Julia and Clair, it was very exciting to work with Fox. It was not just a job- everyone was also a fan, and Julia was thrilled to meet him. Clair felt so much joy and positivity from Michael J. Fox, who was also a consummate professional. Host Jo Reed and AudioFile's Michele Cobb discuss a story where truth is stranger than fiction. Montes, the government's top Cuba expert, worked closely with the intelligence community in the Castro years. She had top-secret clearance—and passed classified documents to Cuba. John J. Miller is joined by Jim Popkin to discuss his new book, 'Code Name Blue Wren.'
This week just sits down with Jim Popkin, former senior investigative reporter and producer at N NBC News and on air correspondent. Jim's articles have appeared in publications like Washington Post Magazine, Wired, Newsweek, Slate, The Guardian, Washingtonian, and on National Public Radio. Jim is also an author, and today he's here to talk about Anna Montez, a Cuban spy who spent more than 16 years as an intelligence analyst with the Defense Intelligence Agency. Anna had already been recruited to work for Cuban Intelligence as one of their spies within the US government before she joined DIA, to the eventual shock of her peers, her superiors, and most importantly her family.Connect with Jim:jimpopkin.combluewrenbook.com Twitter: @JimPopkinCheck out Jim's book, Code Name Blue Wren, here.https://www.amazon.com/Code-Name-Blue-Wren-Dangerous/dp/1335449884Connect with Spycraft 101:Check out Justin's latest release, Covert Arms, here.spycraft101.comIG: @spycraft101Shop: spycraft-101.myshopify.comPatreon: Spycraft 101Find Justin's first book, Spyshots: Volume One, here.Download the free eBook, The Clandestine Operative's Sidearm of Choice, here.15-Minute Cold War Use your forces to attack opponents and defend yourself in this new card game.Disclaimer: This post contains affiliate links. Anne Popkin, president and chief operating officer at Newday Impact Investing, joins the conversation to discuss Environmental, Social and Governance, or “ESG,” investing. More than $8.4 trillion has been invested in ESG-related equities and bonds as of the end of 2022, according to Bloomberg. And it will be a hot topic for investors, Congress and the federal government, as well as several southern states, notably Florida and Texas, who are at war with ESG because it represents , in the words of Florida's Speaker of the House, Paul Renner: “woke financial titans who seek to dictate policy to Floridians regardless of our choices at the ballot box.” Anne provides an investor's perspective on the politicization of ESG.An ESG report is not a set of sustainability commitments, though those may be included to show progress at reducing the company's financial risk. For example, an ESG report explores the risk of business disruption of the company continues to generate CO2 emissions that warm the planet and produce negative impacts that could raise costs or interrupt supply chains. Anne explains that we are in a brief but critical period of consolidating what we've learned to improve the way we measure and report business risk from climate change. Munich Re, a global reinsurance company, reports that climate-related losses in 2021 totaled more than $210 billion globally and $95 billion in the U.S. — compare that to the 40-year U.S. average weather-related losses of $43.9 billion and it's clear that business must be prepared to weather at least twice the climate-caused losses of just a few years ago. She had been spying for Cuba for almost two decades, sending secrets from the heart of American intelligence to Fidel Castro's regime. This week, author and investigative journalist Jim Popkin joins Andrew to discuss Ana Montes' story framed by his new book, Code Name Blue Wren: The True Story of America's Most Dangerous Female Spy—and the Sister She Betrayed. Jim debriefs us on how Ana was recruited, how she gathered and sent secrets, and how she ultimately the net closed in on her. And… The timing couldn't be better to discuss Ana Montes' story. Jim Popkin's new book "Code Name Blue Wren" documents his 15 years-long investigation of Ana Montes, a senior Pentagon analyst who spent close to two decades handing over state secrets to Cuba. He details the deadly double agent's story on the Chuck ToddCast.
In 2001, the FBI arrested a top U.S. intelligence officer who had spied for Cuba for nearly two decades. The story of Ana Montes, whose colleagues called her “The Queen of Cuba,” has all the hallmarks of an espionage thriller. She was among the most damaging spies of her generation, and yet her story remains lesser known than more notorious Cold War-era turncoats. In his new book, journalist Jim Popkin tells the story of Montes' radicalization, her recruitment by Cuban intelligence, and how she managed to spy so long undetected. Montes was released from prison earlier this month, after serving a lengthy prison sentence. New details of her story have come to light in Poplin's book, Code Name Blue Wren: The True Story of America's Most Dangerous Female Spy—and the Sister She Betrayed. Popkin sat down with Shane Harris to talk about Montes' story, what drove her to become a spy, and the investigation that brought her to justice. Chatter is a production of Lawfare and Goat Rodeo. I'm fascinated by Asylums, most are great and help their patients but so many fall to overcrowding and no funding which result in terrible conditions, care, violence and multiple deaths. Here is another one of those in Exeter, Rhode Island. The Ladd school had many names but always seemed destined to fail. It was first known as The Exeter School for the Feeble Minded to help rehabilitate "inmates" to return to society. That never happened and "inmates" were forced to live in filthy conditions and there was 1 doctor and no other staff had proper medical training. So many souls are trapped here and they believe they will never leave. The buildings have been torn down but the activity and spirits remain. So travel with me down a dark road to Exeter, Rhode Island (Also very haunted!!) to discover the travesties of the school. How can you make sure you have a well-spent summer? For today's episode, Stephanie has curated three of her most important not-so-secret secrets for a successful summer in particular, and a successful life in general: - Read your Bible to grow closer to the Lord and develop intimacy with Him; - Don't compare to others, but seek to serve them in humility; - Take time to rest, worship, and laugh. For each of these, Stephanie welcomes a dear friend to highlight each element today. So you're getting THREE conversations in this one episode! It is our special Summer gift to you, our beloved audience. First Stephanie welcomes Shadia Hrichi who shares with us her own journey towards deep intimacy with God. They discuss Hagar, a very special woman in the Bible who gets to give God one of His names - "the God who sees me." They also mostly focus on Tamar, whose powerful story of brokenness is redeemed by the only One who is able to deliver us from our bondage, fear, and trials. Do you need to be reminded that God is FOR you? You are not alone, and He is in every detail of your life. He is especially attentive when things are not going as you want them to - which is probably the case for most of us right now, in this season of the world when everything seems upside down and when it might feel that God is distant! He is closer than ever to the brokenhearted. Then Stephanie welcomes Shannon Popkin who reminds us that we are all attacked by the very real enemy of our soul who seeks to distract us from the Lord. Using the same old tricks that have worked for thousands of years, the devil seeks to entice us to compare to one another because that is exactly what he did with God - he wanted to be better than God Himself. We live in a culture that tells us that, unless we are number one, we are worthless. This is deeply damaging to the very fabric of our soul. With her book "Comparison Girl", Shannon reminds us that the cure towards wholesome healing is simple - yet not easy: we are never happier than when we take our eyes off of ourselves, and focus on another. Humility and other-centered service is the simple yet overlooked secret to a fulfilling life. Jesus role-modeled it for us, and invites us to step closer to His heart through selfless humility. How simple, yet how profound! Finally, Stephanie is thrilled to welcome Marci Seither who invites you to join her for a summer of pondering the goodness of God through rest, laughter and meditation. In her new devotional, Lakeside Retreat, Marci beckons us to experience God in the daily, to embrace Him in the simple, and to delight in Him in every moment. Her book is the perfect summer getaway to come back refreshed, renewed, and more in love with God than ever. MEET MARCI SEITHER Marci Seither's writing career began after her humor article was published in a small-town newspaper. Since then she has authored two books and hundreds of articles for local papers, as well as for Guideposts, Light & Life, and Focus on the Family. She is a creative storyteller who has shared her love of stories with hundreds of schoolchildren as well as those attending one of her workshops. Besides writing, she enjoys trying new recipes, food photography, and capturing drone footage. Her biggest joy, besides being married to John for more than three and a half decades and raising six kids, is being grandma to six of the cutest kiddos in this hemisphere. Marci makes her home in the Nashville, Tennessee, area with John and their very spoiled miniature schnauzer—Pepper. website: http://marciseither.com/ Social Media: https://www.facebook.com/marci.seither Instagram @marci_seither MEET SHANNON POPKIN Shannon Popkin is a writer, speaker, and Bible teacher who loves to blend her gifts for storytelling and humor with her passion for Jesus. Shannon is the author of Comparison Girl: Lessons from Jesus on MeFree Living in a Measure-Up World, Control Girl: Lessons on Surrendering Your Burden of Control from Seven Women in the Bible, and co-author of Influence (Building a Platform That Elevates Jesus (Not Me).
