However, Flan picked up on 1 thing.. she started at Mermaid Beach and finished at Northcliffe – just short of 3kms. Bonnie says she got some friends together yesterday afternoon to finish the job. Ali thanks Bonnie for the awareness she's generated for mental health. Bonnie admits that even on her Paddle Of Aus she has those times where she was struggling mentally out there. We discuss human behavior post large scale devastation and the importance of lasting conversations longer than the year after the event. Josh tells us how we can be fire ready and how people are always looking to point the finger. We had this discussion in the hope to shed some light on the facts around burnoffs, bushfires and the difficulty to prevent and the importance of being proactive Josh has been fighting and learning the ins and outs of fires for 9 years, 2011 joined. He has been involved with a number of large scale campaigns such as, Parkable, Northcliffe, Yarloop and many more.Music provided by Boston Switch.Song; Light it up.
Today’s podcast is a Delirious West special. The Delirious West is a 200 mile race in Western Australia. The Delirious W.E.S.T. is run almost entirely on the Bibbulmun Track in the South West and Great Southern regions of Western Australia from the old logging settlement of Northcliffe, to the Historic port city of Albany. The event took place from Wed 19 February with a 104hr cut off, runners having until 3pm Sunday 23 February to make their way to the finish line at the Great Southern Distillery Company in Albany. The Delirious traverses some of the most remarkable forests, unforgiving coastal scrub, stunning beaches, water crossings and some of nature’s finest landscapes along the World Famous Bibbulmun track. Sarah and Kristen both raced the Delirious West, and they both had very different races! Sarah was first female (and third overall) in a record-breaking time of 71 hours and 35 minutes. Kirsten was the last runner and finished in a time of 103 hours and 50 minutes. They both challenged themselves and got the best they could out of themselves. Please enjoy listening to the amazing feats of these equally amazing women! Please rate and review my podcast here https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/peak-endurance/id1479052215 Need coaching? In our third episode we discuss the magnificent walking in the Karri-dominated Southern Forests of Australia's South West, covering walks from Donnelly River Village, Pemberton, Quinninup, Northcliffe and Walpole.
In the 1920s and 1930s the ownership of Britain's newspapers concentrated in an ever smaller number of hands. Lords Northcliffe, Rothermere and Beaverbrook were able to wield unprecedented political power because they had captured a mass audience of readers. They advanced their own political agendas and existed on the far right of the political spectrum in an age of political uncertainty and crisis.
