We caught up with Sam Garrett, Chief Executive Officer of Great Southern Copper (LON: GSCU), this week after the company announced the partial assay results of Hole CNG25-DD042 (DD042) recently received for its Phase III drilling programme at the Cerro Negro prospect, part of the Especularita Project.Highlights:·    Hole CNG25-DD042 tested the interpreted southern extension of Lens 2 some 300m along trend from the Mostaza mine·   The hole intersected multiple zones or lenses of base and precious metals mineralisation including significant intercepts·    An upper Pb-Zn-Ag rich silica breccia zone includes grades up to 22.4g/t Ag, 1.9% Pb and 0.34% Zn similar to the mineralisation identified in the hanging-wall to Lens 2·    DD-042 results extends the Mostaza system to over 400m of strike  length with mineralisation open to the south·    Pb and Zn rich intervals add further evidence of a complex multiphase stacked system·    Results pending for final diamond holes and all RC drill holes·    Planning for fully funded Phase IV resource and exploration drilling is in progress·    GSC holds option to 100% of the Cerro Negro project including the Mostaza mine·    Project located at low elevation with excellent access to mining-related infrastructureSam Garrett, Chief Executive Officer of Great Southern Copper, said: “These latest results for step-out hole DD042 continue to demonstrate the strong growth potential of the Mostaza copper-silver discovery. Intersecting mineralisation at this distance from the historic workings provides further evidence that the Mostaza Fault Zone hosts a much broader mineralised footprint than originally recognised and emphasises the significant exploration upside still to be tested along this emerging trend.“Importantly, the presence of significant Pb and Zn mineralisation in DD042 within an upper silica-sulphide breccia zone underlain by high-grade chalcocite-clay mineralisation is consistent with the deposit architecture recognised below the Mostaza mine, reinforcing the exciting proposition that this represents a potential extension of the Mostaza Lens 2 trend towards the south.“Exploration work to date has already traced mineralisation and alteration signatures for over two kilometres of the Mostaza Fault Zone, and this latest step-out hole is another important confirmation that the system remains open and continues to grow.“Planning for our fully funded Phase IV drilling campaign is underway and will focus on in-fill drilling of Lens 2 between the Mostaza mine and the mineralisation intersected in holes DD07 and DD042, as well as additional step-out drilling aimed to extend the Lens 2 mineralisation trend further south along the Mostaza Fault Zone.  In addition, we look forward to continuing to test the broader potential of the Cerro Negro system.”

Great Southern Copper PLC (LSE:GSCU, FRA:E9E) CEO Sam Garrett talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company's latest drilling results at the Mostaza discovery within its Cerro Negro project in Chile. Garrett discussed a new drill hole intersecting copper grades of up to 6.55%, alongside strong silver values, highlighting the continued success of the company's exploration program. Garrett said the result confirms a significant step-out from earlier drilling and supports the company's geological model along the Mostaza fault trend. The hole was drilled roughly 400 metres south of previous drilling, demonstrating that the same style of mineralisation continues beyond the historic Mostaza pit. The drilling also indicates that mineralisation extends over a growing strike length. Garrett explained that the results show consistent geological architecture between new drill holes and earlier intersections beneath the Mostaza pit, strengthening the company's confidence that multiple zones could ultimately be linked. “We're seeing the same architecture in the new holes for 300 metres to the south of the Mostaza pit, but now mineralisation has extended over 400 metres in strike length,” Garrett said. The latest drilling has also revealed stacked zones containing copper, silver, lead and zinc mineralisation. According to Garrett, this confirms earlier geological interpretations and suggests a consistent mineralised system, although the structure has been affected by faulting and diking. Looking ahead, the company plans to continue drilling through its fully funded Phase 4 program, targeting extensions of mineralisation further south under shallow cover while also completing infill drilling between existing holes and the Mostaza pit. Great Southern Copper PLC (LSE:GSCU) CEO Sam Garrett talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about encouraging new drill results from the Mostaza deposit at the Cerro Negro project in Chile, highlighting high-grade copper lenses and growing scale potential at depth. Garrett described the latest results as “fantastic” and “very significant,” explaining that early indications suggest the deposit “appears to be getting bigger with depth.” This development is particularly important when considering future mining options, even though those decisions remain further down the track. A key focus of the discussion was the relationship between the newly identified Lens 5 mineralisation and the Monolith Zone, located approximately 400 metres away. Garrett said the mineralisation style in Lens 5 “looks pretty much exactly the same” as that observed in nearby holes and at Monolith, raising the possibility that the system could connect into a much larger continuous copper body. He noted that infill drilling will be required to determine whether the zones join up into what could be a “potentially large deposit.” Surface outcrop samples at Monolith have returned grades running “over 2% copper,” reinforcing confidence in the system. As Garrett put it: “This is what happens when you start drilling, and when you keep drilling, you start finding new things.” The company is now advancing Phase IV drilling, focusing on scout drilling around Monolith, expanding Lens 5, and progressing toward a resource at Lens 2. Infrastructure at Cerro Negro, including roads, power, nearby towns, and potential processing plant options, provides valuable optionality and could support earlier cash flow. The portfolio offers exposure to silver, copper and gold at very attractive grades, with plenty of upside on offer. Shares in Great Southern tripled over the past year, but relative to peers the company remains attractively valued. That may in part be because the peer group largely trades overseas, but either way, in the current favourable commodities price environment and with lots of drilling ahead and a steady stream of results likely to be coming in sooner rather than later interest in the company is likely to be considerable.

Great Southern Copper PLC (LSE:GSCU) chief executive Sam Garrett talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the latest high-grade drilling results at the Cerro Negro project, with a focus on the Mostaza target area. Garrett said recent intercepts confirmed the presence of stacked lenses, potentially increasing the size and value of the copper-silver system. “The realisation in the recent drilling of the potential for stacked lenses is clearly going to give us the opportunity to expand the potential size of this deposit,” he explained. Metallurgical testing is underway to determine copper and silver recovery rates, which will enable the company to report results in copper or silver equivalents. Garrett said this will offer clearer comparisons with other assets in the sector. He also highlighted progress at the Viuda Negra prospect, where early drilling indicates a potentially large Maricunga-style gold porphyry system, significant as such systems have not previously been recognised in Chile's coastal belt. While early gold grades were low, Garrett noted economic grades were intersected in mineralised porphyry zones. The company recently raised £2.5 million to fund expanded drilling at Especularita, with three rigs now active. Investors can expect news flow from ongoing drilling, further metallurgical updates, and planning for phase four drilling at Mostaza, as well as continued exploration at Viuda Negra and scout drilling across the broader Especularita region. Margaret River is only one of the nine regions in Western Australia but is the most popular and most famous of the regions. Margaret River is also somewhat unique in that it is a peninsula bordered on three sides by the ocean. The area has a temperate maritime climate because of the ocean's proximity. Western Australia accounts for only 5% of Australia's wine production, but accounts for 30% of its award-winning wine. Western Australia is the second-oldest wine region in Australia. However, most of the wine was coming from Swan Valley which is located just north of Perth, and is one of the warmest wine regions in the world (warmest region in Australia). Swan Valley was responsible for 90% of Western Australia's wine in 1970, 59% by 1980, and 15%. The percentage of wine production from Swan Valley is still declining.Margaret River is known mostly for its Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc, and Chenin Blanc. Other wines from Western Australia include Shiraz and Riesling from the Great Southern and Frankland River GI's. Tonight, we are enjoying two white wines including:2021 Howard Park Margaret River Miamup Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine was purchased from Wine Styles for $23.75, but I saw it online for upper teens. It received a 92 rating from the Wine Enthusiast. It has aromas of dark cherries, dried mint and tobacco; with textured tannins and nice acidity. At the tasting the flavor got slightly lost in its power but should improve in next couple of years. Decanter gave the wine a 91 and says. Smells of cassis and dried herbs, supple tannins and ripe fruit. Aged 18 months in oak. 100% Cabernet Sauvignon. Drinking window 2023-2026. Fermented in stainless steel tanks then stored in Barriques and Barrels 20% new and 80% used French for 18 months. 5.7 g/L acidity - 3.54 pH - 0.5 g/L RS - 14.5% alcohol. 2019 Joel Gott 815 Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine was purchased from Costco for $12.49, but I saw that it typically sells closer to $16.00. James Suckling gave this wine a 90 rating, and says aromas of blackcurrants, blackberries, dark cherries, olives, licorice and dried thyme. Medium body with fine tannins. Juicy and savory. Wine Folley - Nose of black cherries and blackberries with notes of clove and brown sugar. Tastes of dark fruit, velvety tannins, vanilla on the long finish. The wine was aged in oak for 18 months in 25% new american oak. Fermented and aged by lots. Lots are blended after aging. This drinks through 2025 so should look for newer vintages. 5.8 g/L TA - 3.74 pH - 1.5 g/L RS - 13.9% alcohol. These wines were similar, but with subtle differences that expressed the two regions. The Napa wine being more fruit forward and having a great deal of vanilla from the American Oak. The Margaret River was brighter, a little toward the red fruit, with more earthiness. Denise loved both wines and gave them both a 4. I also liked both wines, but felt the Joel Gott 815 was a little too much fruit and vanilla. I found the Margaret River wine to be a little more balanced. I gave the Napa a 3 and the Margaret River a 4. It really depends on the type of wine you prefer. Enjoy!Next week we will have a hybrid spotlight, and feature the white wine Vignoles.

The idea of a landmass that would counterbalance the known world had long been the stuff of legend. Now Dalrymple wanted to prove it. Momentum built behind his expedition which was a product of the evidence-based scientific approach of the Enlightenment. Soon they had a ship, a Whitby-based collier called The Endeavour.
