Bio: "ONHELL" is a phonetic respelling of the Spanish pronunciation of angel and the first name of Los Angeles-based composer, producer, and DJ, Angel Rubio-Hale. ONHELL's sets are diverse journeys, mostly comprised of original beats. Though no two tunes are the same, all with varying bpms and rhythms, ONHELL masterfully melds them all with distinct cohesion.  He's completed multiple US tours, a solo tour across Asia, and has played at many notable festivals, including Symbiosis Gathering, Shambhala, Croatia's Outlook Festival, Wakaan, Northern Nights, Treefort Music Fest, What the Festival, Raindance Campout, Untz Festival, and Emissions. Darren Dixon, AKA D Double E, wants the world to know that he's not just a MC. In a short but deep chat with London DJ and presenter Tash LC on the sidelines of Outlook Festival's debut UK edition, the grime veteran discusses his recent productions for for the likes of Novelist and others. Despite producing for years, Dixon has largely hidden that side of his artistry from the public. But that's now changing following the release of his latest EP, Bluku! Bluku! 2. "It's a separate life but I'm now pushing it into the world," Dixon tells Tash LC ahead of his live performance at the festival. His production and vocals on the new EP touch on classic grime but there's also elements of '80s synth music and R&B. The record is a reflection of his personal tastes, he explains. Putting out new music is a chance for fans to see his personality, he continues, noting how that's not always possible during live grime shows. "When I'm doing grime sets, they're playing mad beats and I have no choice but to spit on the beat," he says. Listen to the full conversation for more details on Dixon's creative process as well as his collaborations with Swindle and Chip.

KK016: EZ Riser - The Slacktivist Established in August 2020, KRUNK KULTURE is a record label from the future by KRUNK. The Slacktivist by EZ Riser is our next EP on Krunk Kulture. The debut EP by EZ Riser marks the expressive & full-blown arrival of music veteran Sohail Arora. Unhinged, emotive & raw, the 6-track project power packs high-BPM sonic landscapes through the dancey terrains of jungle and drum & bass. Thematically the electronic music project explores the new-age notion of digital “slacktivism” - the lackluster support or effort shown by online individuals in the vague hope of social or political improvement. The rough & rowdy sounds of the EP arise out of the artist's reflections on the movement & his interpretation of its place in our culture. Sohail Arora launched his solo project, EZ Riser, in Oct 2012. Often known as a pioneer for pushing cutting-edge electronic music with a heavy emphasis on bass in India, Sohail Arora got exposed to Bass music during his days of working with Blue Frog & Zenzi2, the iconic music venues of Mumbai. As the founder of KRUNK, India's foremost alternative booking agency and events crew5, Sohail & KRUNK have been instrumental in producing and elevating some of the most prominent and most prolific talents in India. EZ Riser's musicality extends to a variety of bass-heavy tunes shelled out over the years. EZ Riser's track ‘444' was released under the 2021 Billboard Presents: Electronic Asia Vol.5 compilation, while his track ‘Solar Dub Power' was released via 2022's Bass Coast Festival compilation, 12 days. He has also remixed the hit indie singles ‘Take' by Anushka & ‘Pieces' by Nothing Anonymous in 2020. His breaks-heavy track ‘Trippy Feet' was released as a part of Krunk Kulture's ‘Ganga Jamuna - Flavours of the East' compilation and was selected in iTunes' 2021 top 100 Indian Independent Hits playlist. EZ Riser has also played at leading global bass music festivals like Bass Coast Festival (Canada), Outlook Festival & Dimensions Festival (Croatia), Magnetic Fields Festival (India), NH7 Weekender (India), Vh1 Supersonic Festival (India), Jungle Flash Festival (Slovenia), Modern Sky Festival (Finland) & many more. This week's Resident Advisor Exchange was recorded in January, live from Southbank Centre in London. Shortly before their Royal Festival Hall performance with The Outlook Orchestra, drum & bass and jungle originators Fabio & Grooverider sat down with Heléna Star to talk about the show. As you can hear from the applause and roars of laughter throughout the recording, the audience was besotted. The UK dance music scene would look very different without Fabio & Grooverider's contributions over the last few decades. Coming from pirate radio, where they first teamed up in 1987 on Phase One, the duo would go on to carve out the path for drum & bass and jungle, as well as to influence the trajectories of house, techno and breakbeat. Grooverider captures their legacy best when he says: "We are this music." Launched in 2017, The Outlook Orchestra has collaborated with other pioneering artists like David Rodigan and Mala. The show with Fabio & Grooverider, which they will perform again at Outlook Festival in June, saw 30 years of drum & bass history packed into 31 tracks. In conversation with Heléna Star, Fabio & Grooverider discussed how the show came together, as well as their staying power in the scene, the legacy of their seminal club night Rage, how drum & bass is still growing and how humour is a vital part of their relationship. Fittingly, they also cracked a lot of jokes.

We look forward to the Queen of the Peak women's surf comp kickoff we're hosting, and get a report back from a Croatian music festival courtesy of one of our very own electronic music reporters. -I met this dude named Graeme Martell at a local bar and invited him to co-host this episode. He explains how surfing's totally different than other boardsports, reads some "wake up call to the world" poetry that touches on the illuminati, tells us about ditching a blood-stained hat for a white one, and describes what it was like to find black mushrooms near Tonquin Beach. You know, just classic stuff. "How profound. Do you like to hear the vibrations of sound? Do you love your city, or do you love your town?" (33:05) -53:54 > I interview Boston / Nelson B.C. performer Erica Dee (@erica-dee) live on the air about her creative process, her perspective on the West Coast and what it's like to see her words inspire other artists to create music. -1:22:34 > It was pretty rad to hear the approach OWABOWA (@owabowa) takes to integrating global sounds with fresh electronics. She's turned a love of South African #house into groovin' mixology tools of the trade such as cumbia, baile funk, reggaeton and -- my fav -- "psychedelic tropical." 1:49:15 - DJ Xoiko headed to Croatia for an exhausting but totally mindblowing time at Outlook Festival. It took him a couple weeks to fully recover that's how dope it was. He reports back with prime info about the tracks and artists that went off at the event. We hope he'll slip us a dubplate mixtape in the days to come. Exploring the darker, more atmospheric side of Drum & Bass, Xanadu soon caught the attention of one of the scenes greats, when Ant TC1 chose his track ‘Abstrakt’ as the winner of Outlook Festival’s producer competition in 2012. Early support for Xanadu's tracks (such as 'Ventricle') came from a number of highly esteemed artists and DJ's including Mefjus, Fourward, June Miller and Kasra, but the ball really started rolling when he met the legendary Dom & Roland. Dom invited him to release his first record on D&R Productions, the first original solo work (other than Dom's own) to be signed to the imprint. "Through The Oort Clouds" was the debut release, a full length LP which came out in January 2015 Xanadu currently has more music forthcoming on Dom & Roland Productions which we should see later this year. http://soundcloud.com/brevans http://facebook.com/xanadumusic http://twitter.com/xanadumusic Track List: Fixate - Alive - [Exit Records] Spirit - Life Goes On - [Blu Mar Ten Music] Fracture & Moresounds - Dead and Bury - [Astrophonica] Halogenix - Soulide - [Ingredients Records] Xtrah - We Exist - [Cyberfunk] Silent Witness, Survival - Trust No One - [Dispatch Records] Arkaik & Bredren - Red Power (Arkaik Remix) - [Proximity Recordings] Skeptical - Square Breathing - [Ingredients Records] Xanadu - Maglev [Dom & Roland Productions dub] Disprove - War Drive - [Renegade Hardware] Philth - Destroyer - [AutomAte Tech] Detail - Breakout [Addictive Behaviour Records] Signal - Judgment [dub] Skeptical - Imperial - [Exit Records] Seba - Berberian Sound - [Secret Operations] Quartz - Zone System - [DSC14 dub] Fearful - XIII - [AutomAte] Signal - Existence - [Mindtech Recordings] Disprove - No Silence [Ammunition Recordings] Raiden & Outrage - Tornado - [Temah] Philth - Genocide - [AutomAte Tech] Xanadu & Phentix - ? Reggae Rajahs are India's first and foremost reggae sound system. That much you should know. For the past 4 years they have been steadily building a loyal and dedicated fanbase across the country, exclusively pushing genres such as reggae, dancehall, dub, ska and rocksteady. This week they will be celebrating 4 years with a self programmed, curated and promoted tour in association with The Polish Institute. As has become a tradition over the years, they will also be celebrating Bob Marley's (68th) birthday within these dates: Last year saw the trio complete a landmark year. Alongside a European tour they had performances at festivals such as SulaFest, NH7 Weekender, Ragasthan and Sunburn, whilst also supporting Snoop Dogg in Delhi to much acclaim from press and fans alike. It's been an absolute pleasure watching this dynamic trio grow over the years. From winning the very first reggae soundclash in a 200 capacity club (up against BASSFoundation) to hosting Dub Station at the NH7 Weekender, playing Outlook Festival in Croatia and supporting Snoop Dogg in New Delhi, their positive lyrics, MC'ing style, role as selectors and choice of touring artists has reflected in their progression as one of India's fastest growing live acts. Supporting them on this tour will be Dreadsquad, who rank amongst Poland's premier music producers. Creating music that can broadly be classified as reggae/dancehall, they combine elements of ska, rocksteady, breakbeat, jungle and dubstep, pushing forward a unique fusion of bass heavy sounds. And as a little treat the Rajahs have put together a mix that elegantly folds together 24 tracks all produced by Dreadsquad, all within 34 minutes.

Tracklist : 01. Skitty Feat Mc Fokus – Chords + Atmosphere’s 02. Calibre – Reno 03. Octane + DLR – Back in the Grind – ( Dabs + Cern Rmx ) 04.
