The first time I met Kaite, she was the MC at a wedding, little did I know about all the depth she's carried beneath the surface and I'm so grateful for the discussion we got to have this week! On this dark, frustrating, broken planet, I love bright Lights.  Listener, you are in for a treat!  Meet Gerald.  Was homeless, down and out and one of the most content people that I have ever met in my life!  Why do content?  Well, here you go...Thank you again Brother Gerald!  As we often say on this podcast, we are in the Hope and Encouragement business.  Getting Real.  Pursuing Truth.  Case in point, 1 Thes 5:11.  Avid listener, you know my favorite rhetorical questions.  Does this world need more Hope or hopelessness?  More Love or hate?  Jesus says Love is greatest of all.  Jesus speaks very highly of the poor and that for those that can to take care of them Matt 25:40.  So those that slam on Jesus, that is what you slam on.  And I know, some of you have been burned by hypocrites.  Many people that call themselves Christians aren't or they are not doing a very good job at the loving part...see Matt 22:36-40.  Cathy, Jade, Gerald, Jose, Linda, Matthew, Mike C, Z, Remmy, Gilbert, Gary, Jackie, Ryan, Kaite, Lori, Matthew, Patty and so many more that I could name.  The countless donors behind Overflowshowers.org, Spirit Filled Church Indio, Victory in Christ Church Indio, Templo Hermosa Coachella, Red Door La Quinta, Southwest Church Indian Wells, Martha's Kitchen Indio, Coachella Valley Rescue Mission, Our Lady of Gualdalupe Palm Springs, Ramona Tire Palm Desert, Dr. Vines, Nurse Peggy...and I'm just scratching the surface of Faithful servants and businesses striving to share Jesus and Hope and Love in the Coachella Valley of California.  As for you, if you complain about homelessness or California, speaking from personal experience that most likely means that is where God wants you to serve.  Too far?  Ok, how about then at least pick one of those organizations mentioned and donate.  Put your resources in motion that God has blessed you with to help address what concerns you the most.I love you.  God loves you way more. Just listen to Gerald.  He feels loved and shines Love...meanwhile others sit in their giant homes and contemplate their lives and wrestle depression.  Ironic indeed.  Ending on a song note, My Tribe by Blessing Offor, Gerald, Spirit Filled, Southwest and all those mentioned above our part of my tribe, your tribe too, if you so choose...give Blessing Offor some love, buy it, subscribe it, get KLove to play it!

When Addy Jacobsend shared the idea of a film featuring an all-female cast and production crew, it was an immediate yes. With a crew of 8 and 23 remarkable female athletes, they spent a year capturing clips and unraveling the stories behind each athlete. The vision behind 'Advice for Girls' is powerful — to provide wisdom from three generations of women in skiing. The film's narrative aims to resonate with women and girls of all ages, reinforcing the messages that they deserve success, have the right to claim their space, and contribute significantly to the ski industry. Greg Bailey discusses his new translation of the Gaṇeśa Khaṇḍa of the Brahmavaivarta Purāṇa, one of the few texts dedicated solely to the popular elephant-headed Indian god Gaṇeśa. About the book: The first two khaas of the Brahmavaivarta Puraa (BvP) deal with Brahma and Prakti respectively. Both introducing the theology that enables Ka to be treated as identical with the supreme Brahma, and as Viu/ Narayaa in all his forms. Ultimately everything goes back to Ka as the source of power and being even including the mother goddesses who are so prolific in the text, not just in its second khaa. The fourth and final khaa treats the mythology of Ka himself, with focus on his birth, and just before this comes the Gaapatikhaa (GKh). GKh is one of the few mahapuraas that includes a separate khaa about Gaesa, with the exceptions being the two Gaapatya Puraas the Gaesa and Mudgala Puraas-and the Vinayakamahatmya of the Skanda Puraa. When one reads the other three khaas of the Puraa, it is clearly evident that the GKh fits in perfectly with the principal themes of the entire Puraa, all associated with Ka in his various manifestations and the theology of the mother goddess, especially Radha and Durga. In addition, it continues the practice in many of its chapter of expositing the application of kavacas, dhyanas, mantras and stotras, to the extent that the text is almost a handbook of devotional ritual. What is striking about the GKh is that it is only incidentally about Gaesa. Only less than ten percent of the entire text deals directly with Gaesa. It touches tangentially on his birth, the loss of his head and the gaining of an elephant head, his status as first to be worshipped in all pujas, his loss of one of his tasks at the hands of parasurama, and his cursing of the Tulasi Plant. The second half of the GKh is essentially a version of the Parasurama myth. This begins with the intention to tell as well-known episode about Gaesa reflected in his common name Ekadanta. This certainly offers a unique interpretation of its, focusing as it does on the morality of patricide and regicide, and relations between boys and their mothers. Ka is treated in a manner that can only be called theological. Theologically it is simply stating that all power is located in Viu/ Ka, but in this khaa it is seemingly extended much more than elsewhere. In addition, he is usually depicted as located in Goloka and Vdavana, with the bucolic ka receiving most emphasis in the next. The sakti teachings in this text blend constantly with the Kaite teachings, to the point that both seem to empower each other. That ka looms large is hardly a surprise given the BvP is substantially a Kaite Puraa of 14th – 15th century Bengal and then it could not have omitted existing material on the sakti, given the importance of other goddess worship in Bengal. There have been two previous translations of the Brahmavaivarta Puraa. The present translation is a fresh translation but the translator has subsequently compared it with the earlier translations to remain transparent to the Sanskrit itself. We're willing to bet that you're working on a new B2B campaign and require some new inspiration.Because all B2B tech ads look and sound the same. They just melt into one shapeless, forgettable jumble of fingers typing and screens scrolling. But we see you plodding along in the B2B marketing marathon of sameness, and we're throwing you some jet-boosted sneakers. On this episode of Remarkable, we're daring you to do the exact opposite of your competitors, to outsource the authenticity of your brand voice to your customers, and much, much more. And we're doing that with the help of our special guest, Senior Director of Brand at Axonius, Kaite Rosa. Together, we're exploring the iconic and visionary 2007 Nike ad campaign featuring pro runner Lauren Fleshman. We look at how the ad deviated from the “tasteful nude” status quo of female athletes in ads, dismantled the objectification of women in sports, and promoted inclusivity by leveraging Lauren's voice. And how you too can subvert expectations, make a statement, and do it authentically. So lace up your new sneaks and get ready to redefine B2B ads on the latest episode of Remarkable.About Nike's “Objectify Me” CampaignNike's “Objectify Me” campaign was a 2007 ad featuring pro runner Lauren Fleshman. It's a 30-second black and white slow mo video of Lauren running toward the camera. And we hear Lauren's voice. She says, “Look at me, study me, understand me. I'm not a small, pink version of a man. Don't give me small, pink versions of a man's running shoe. I'm Lauren Fleshman. I'm a runner, and I'm a woman.” Then it shows her running out of frame, and the Nike logo pops up on screen. It's a really understated Nike ad that deviated FAR from its predecessors.Lauren is a decorated distance runner. She won five NCAA championships at Stanford and two national championships as a professional athlete. She's also a writer, having been featured in The New York Times and Runner's World. Lauren is now Brand Strategy Advisor for fitness apparel company Oiselle, and Co-Founder of natural food company Picky Bars. Her book Good For a Girl: A Woman Running in a Man's World came out in January 2023.About our guest, Kaite RosaKaite Rosa is Senior Director of Brand at Axonius, where she leads the team responsible for creating a $2.6 billion brand in less than five years. Cited as one of the fastest-growing cybersecurity brands in history, Axonius has been named one of the most valuable private cloud companies in the world by the Forbes Cloud 100, along with numerous industry accolades.A life-long writer, she is passionate about using storytelling and creative concepts to define and build exceptional brand experiences. She has spent the bulk of her career at tech startups, and thrives on rapidly growing, fast-paced teams. Previously, she led brand and content at Payfactors, Virgin Pulse, and VentureFizz. What B2B Companies Can Learn From Nike's “Objectify Me” Campaign: Do the opposite of what's expected. Look at what other companies in your space are doing in their campaigns and make a campaign based on the antithesis of that. Be the rebel in your industry. Subvert the expected. Kaite says so many brands feel like they have to join in on what's popular or trending. She says, “There's a lot of, like, ‘Me too,' right? Like, they're gonna copy it and try to make it their own, and look very similar. But what inspires me the most is looking at what your competitors are doing and doing the exact opposite.” It's like how Lauren Fleshman was presented with a briefing inspired by Brandi Chastain's “tasteful nude” ad, and advocated instead to be in her athletic gear and to write the ad copy herself. She turned the copy on its head, saying that if she was going to be objectified, it would be to design running gear specific to her physiology. And the campaign became iconic.Outsource authenticity to your customers. Make your customer's voice your brand voice. Ian says marketers always want to control the narrative, but sometimes you need to let your customers take the wheel. Because he says that when you ask customers to talk about your brand in their own words, “They come up with something absolutely brilliant that you could never have written.” And how could that not be authentic? Nike was able to outsource the authenticity piece of Lauren's ad because Lauren wrote the copy herself. For sure, there was a layer of brand approval, but the words are Lauren's. So outsource the authenticity piece of your ad copy to customers, and it will resonate.Quotes*”Whether you're working in a bootstrapped company or publicly funded company. any budget can accommodate your customer voice.” - Kaite Rosa*”If you're doing a high-level brand campaign, the approach shouldn't be, ‘Let's sell you all the features and benefits.' It should be, ‘Let's get you in the store. Let's get you remembering who we are so that the next time you need those new sneakers or you need a B2B SaaS solution,  you remember the ad.'” - Kaite Rosa*”What is memorable and where storytelling really comes alive is when you look at what's out there and say, ‘We're gonna do something that is disruptive, that is different. And I think that you can do that on any budget.” - Kaite Rosa*“People latch on to the authenticity of brands. That's what drives you emotionally to a brand, is that it feels authentic. It resonates with you. And I think living and breathing your values in everything you do, if you're at a company with a culture that encourages that, that ties your values into everything you do, it comes naturally. Good marketing and good brands tap into those values.” - Kaite RosaTime Stamps[1:37] Get to know Kaite Rosa, Senior Director of Brand at Axonius[2:14] Tell me more about Nike's “Objectify Me” campaign[8:04] About athletic advertising before Lauren Fleshman's campaign[12:23] About the timelessness of the “Objectify Me” ad[14:23] Why challenging the status quo is important[23:27] How to ground your message in values[24:53] What does Axonius do?[25:42] What's Axonius' brand strategy?[26:41] How does Kaite think about the ROI of content marketing?[27:14] Learn more about Axonius' “Controlling Complexity” campaign with gymnast Simone BilesLinksSee Nike's Objectify Me ad with Lauren FleshmanConnect with Kaite Rosa on LinkedInLearn more about AxoniusCheck out the Axonius campaign with Simone BilesAbout Remarkable!Remarkable! is created by the team at Caspian Studios, the premier B2B Podcast-as-a-Service company. Most of the time, we feel stuck, torn between what we "should" do and what we "want" to do in life, without knowing the direction to follow. We will not be able to fully step into our power UNLESS we can know AND show who we are.We are so busy trying to be everything to everyone else that we don't fully OWN what we know we were put on the earth to do. When we can show up fully and authentically as ourselves we can own our power, courageously take the steps we want to take in our careers, small business, or creative endeavors, and thus, grow our financial power. Our today's guest, Katie Gall, believes that trusting and following your own intuition is the key. She is Owner and CEO at Keeping It Real With Katie Gall, LLC, and also provides business coaching to take your business and/or creative endeavors to the next level. She also provides guidance to women, to step out of their Superwoman cape and create boundaries so that they are pleasing themselves, not just everyone else around them.
