In this episode of the Thoughtful Entrepreneur, your host Josh Elledge talks to the CEO of https://www.dannorenberg.com/ (Executive Ownershift), Dan Norenberg . Executive Ownershift is the framework Dan created for executive and strategic teams to help them improve their leadership skills and organizational results. Dan shares his background and explains how he ended up living in Europe. Dan shares that he was able to follow his desires to live there by adapting to constraints. He looked for marketing and sales roles he could serve in, but he recognized that what he needed was coaching and training to be ready to work where he lived in Germany. He became self employed ultimately, and that's how he's lived ever since.  Josh and Dan explore the importance of making your team feel a part of something more. Dan says you have to explore where the culture of employee engagement starts in your business. You need to start engaging at the bottom, not the top. Executives who are self-aware enough to want to improve their leadership skills often work with solo coaches. Dan says this is where his services differ; Dan coaches entire leadership teams, as teams. Leadership is a team construct in Dan's eyes, and this is why he coaches in this fashion. Dan and Josh also talk about how engagement needs to happen within your company. Don't just tell your team what to do, inspire them to follow in your footsteps. You need to show your team through actions that you want to engage with them and that you care. They also talk about also having people at all levels in an organization engage with customers. If things should be customer-centric, commit your team to excellence down to the individual employee.  You also need to create a culture around the company's mission. Talk to your team about the positive impact they make and encourage them to feel community in the shared vision of the organization. Dan explains that there are three areas of immediate opportunity for improvement that can be addressed in leadership teams across industries. For one, do they have a clear and worthy goal for future success? It's hard to make a goal both clear and worthwhile in this day and age. Next, dedicate yourself to continuous improvement and excellence in your leadership team. If you aren't driving that constant improvement at a leadership level, you won't see results with the rest of your team. Finally, work on the business, not in the business. Don't lose track of the ultimate goal by getting caught in the weeds.  ‘Want to learn more? Mike Malatesta is an entrepreneur, author, investor, and the Founder of Advanced Waste Services. He is the Leader of ERC Midwest, a holding company formed to purchase and grow other businesses that specialize in solving complex waste problems. Mike is also the author of the forthcoming book, Owner Shift: How Getting Selfish Got Me Unstuck, and host of the How'd It Happen Podcast.    Mike is on a mission to help 1,000 entrepreneurs create companies that become worth more than $20 million each. Options rather than obligations drive him, and he hopes to create new opportunities, relationships, and success stories as a result of doing what he loves. In this episode… Many people have come to a point in their career where they feel like they've eclipsed their skillset or begun hating the things they used to love. Mike Malatesta calls this the “valley of uncertainty.” So, how do you avoid getting stuck in this dark place? Sometimes you need to break to discover a breakthrough. After tragically losing his business partner, Mike found himself in the valley of uncertainty. He had no luck thinking his way out of the situation and decided that his perspective needed to change. Mike concluded that he had the power to turn this bleak situation around and became receptive to the help he needed — something difficult for many entrepreneurs. The most significant factor in pulling himself out of the valley of uncertainty? Mike became selfish.   In this episode of the Top Business Leaders Show, Chad Franzen sits down with entrepreneur, investor, and author Mike Malatesta to talk about overcoming entrepreneurial struggles. Mike discusses how he came out of the valley of uncertainty, shifted his business, and teaches others to think big. Mike also details the entrepreneurial advice in his book, Owner Shift, and shares how you can get a free chapter of the book before it's released!

As an executive advisor, coach, and consultant, Dan Norenberg designs and delivers growth experiences for executive teams that improve leadership performance and organizational results through a transformative process called Executive Ownershift®.From his experience, most executive teams are a collection of highly talented and experienced leaders, yet very few of these teams perform at their best. When leadership teams don't play at their best, it puts their entire company at risk. His work starts with the executive leadership team because they are the moral and performance barometer for the whole company. When leaders truly want to change and improve their business, they must see themselves as the starting point for change and growth. Most organizations and consultants see leadership as an individual endeavor. This is not the most effective approach because your company's success depends on your leaders' effective teamwork and collaboration, not their individual talents.

What would happen if more women became owneresses and risktakersses? And how can we start driving business with a purpose to take on the world's challenges? To find out, we sat down with Charlotte Sundåker and Linda Waxin, co-founders of the politically independent think tank, Ownershift, that aims to globally and notably increase the percentage of female ownership in a lifespan. The purpose - to shift societal power structures through ownership. Not only do these accomplished women share stories about their former DJ careers, we also learned about how it is to drive business with a purpose to save the planet in a more fun way. After an intense career in the PR industry, being the former CEO of Edelman Stockholm, Linda Waxin firmly decided to put her powers behind a clear purpose. Today she is the CEO and owneress of talent tech startup MatchingID, with the aim to give people power over their work lives, digitalizing, streamlining and anonymizing talent sourcing.Charlotte Sundåker took the leap into entrepreneurship after leading and developing international businesses and being the CEO of our very own Hyper Island. Now she creates purposeful change by being the owneress and CEO of Planethon, a planet-tech company that turns scientific insights into business opportunities.Hosts: Linn Jansson and Erik GranholmOnce again, thank you to Beppo studios for making this recording possible and for their continued support of HyperTalks!
