Brian DeVries, Senior Advisor at Lean Fox Solutions, joined Jamie Flinchbaugh on the People Solve Problems podcast to share his insights on problem-solving methodologies and leadership. Brian recently authored a children's book, "The Big Thinking of a Small Knight," which teaches leadership and continuous improvement principles through storytelling. Brian explained his preferred problem-solving approach, the nine-box methodology, which begins with what he calls a "rally cry" - a clear, concise problem statement that teams can consistently return to throughout the process. He shared a compelling story about a meeting where team members wrote down their understanding of the problem they were trying to solve, only to discover that no two descriptions matched. This experience reinforced the importance of having a unified understanding of the problem at hand. The conversation explored the significance of breaking down complex problems into manageable pieces. Brian described how he looks for specific triggers that indicate when a problem needs to be broken down, such as when teams struggle with measuring improvements or when the path forward isn't clear. He drew parallels to personal health goals, where large objectives are achieved through smaller, actionable daily steps. One of the most powerful moments Brian shared was from his work with a nonprofit organization, where a program participant remarked, "I didn't know my mind could think about a problem that way." This experience highlighted the transformative power of teaching problem-solving skills and continues to inspire his work today. Brian emphasized the crucial role of psychological safety in creating an effective problem-solving culture. He shared a personal story from his early days as a manufacturing supervisor, where showing vulnerability and admitting his lack of knowledge to his team helped build trust and led to significant improvements over time. This approach exemplifies his belief that leaders should be intentional about creating an environment where it's safe to make mistakes and learn from them. Throughout the conversation, Brian demonstrated his passion for helping others develop their problem-solving capabilities and creating environments where people feel empowered to contribute their ideas. His approach combines structured methodologies with human-centered leadership principles. Big thinkers don't have pick me energy. They turn their visions into action by putting the work into making and executing clear plans. Podcaster, coach, and author Andrea Liebross shares her proven strategies to get out of stuck stress and be successful on your terms. What will be your legacy? You have thought options (try challenging your go-to ones). That's on period. Delegation is a skill to be developed. Go beyond basic detailed task and deadline outlines and learn how to truly get things off your plate. Operate in your zone of extraordinary achievement by asking: will it make a difference? are you the only one who can do it? do you need to know how to do it? do you enjoy it? Success has two ingredients- mindset and support systems. You need both. Ask what if and operate out of curiosity not fear. Confidence is the willingness to feel anything. A book I highly recommend is The Magic of Thinking Big. I discuss thinking big in today's episode. Some will get it some won't. I also discuss being a loser and commenting in Reddit, instagram or any other social media platform. You should be using your brain and working on your own riches. Stop worrying about what celebrities are breaking up. I promise you don't care that much. Far too often it's easier to sit on the sideline or at the bottom of the mountain. Rather than climbing up yourself. You think what if somebody sees me. Again I promise nobody cares. Life is going to life. Do you know who Chester A Arthur is? He was President of the United States yet he is barely remembered. I promise you if you keep sitting at the bottom or climb to the top time will erase some of your shine off either way. So go out create something, make money and take care of loved ones while you are on this earth. Listen and subscribe so you don't miss out on future episodes. Could aiming for the impossible be the key to your entrepreneurial success?  The speed of today's world pushes entrepreneurs to innovate, but many shy away from bold, game-changing ideas.  Rather than focusing on small and incremental gains, imagine how powerful it would be if we focused on transformative, world-changing ideas. Moonshot thinking goes beyond dreaming big-it's about redefining what's possible and attracting the people, resources, and momentum to make ambitious visions a reality. Naveen Jain, the visionary founder and CEO of Viome Life Sciences, has built his career on this principle. Reflecting on his journey from being a tech outsider to a leading innovator, he champions the pursuit of audacious goals to tackle the world's biggest challenges. For Naveen, technology is simply a tool, but solving meaningful problems is what truly defines entrepreneurial success. In this episode of The Greatness Machine, Darius sits down with Naveen Jain to explore how entrepreneurs can achieve success by focusing on their mission rather than limiting themselves to incremental gains. Naveen also shares his insights on how working toward world-changing goals naturally attracts the brightest minds and resources. 262: Big Thinking Big Results On the podcast today is Andrea Liebross. She's a business and life coach who works with high-achieving women entrepreneurs. She's the host of the podcast “Time to Level Up”, and just published a fantastic book called She Thinks Big. We're going to be talking about intention, integration, priorities, and agency in our business journey in our conversation with Andrea. I'm excited to have you join us. Topics Mentioned: Strategy Fear Integration Intention Committed versus Interested Key Thoughts:  We have to be intentional about having that necessary ending so that we can have a new beginning, so that we can track a new path and create a new course forward. It takes intention. Michele Williams   If you think about a teeter-totter at a playground, that balancing, it's only balanced for a split second before one side goes up and one side goes down. I don't love balance. I really love this thought of how things can be integrated. Andrea Liebross   What you own, you can change. I own the decision; therefore, I can change the decision. I own my choice. I could change the choice, but I own it. Which puts me in the power position of, this is my decision to make or my choice to make, and I'm not going to feel like it's happening to me. I'm going to feel like I'm participating in this process. A mental shift of power. Michele Williams   You've already created your glass ceiling. We don't need to have that. Let's think beyond. Let's embrace the thought that you are a business owner that in every season your business is equal. There's no downside. So that's big thinking. And if you can make big decisions, it makes these choices easier, which are going to support, ultimately, the big thinking.  Andrea Liebross   Contact Michele: Email: Team@ScarletThreadConsulting.com Facebook: Scarlet Thread Consulting Instagram: @ScarletThreadATL Website: ScarletThreadConsulting.com LinkedIn: Michele Williams Contact Andrea: Website: AndreaLiebross.com Instagram: @AndreaLiebrossCoaching Email: andrea@andrealiebross.com YouTube: @AndreaLiebrossCoaching Facebook: Andrea Liebross Coaching LinkedIn: Andrea Liebross X (Twitter): Andrea Liebross References and Resources: CFO2GO Work with Me Metrique Solutions Andrea's Podcast “Time to Level Up” She Thinks Big by Andrea Liebross Necessary Endings by Dr. Henry Cloud Seven Primal Questions: Take Control Of The Hidden Forces That Drive You by Mike Foster Your Next Five Moves: Master the Art of Business Strategy by Patrick Bet-David It's Okay to be The Boss by Bruce Tulgan Unfiltered Wisdom: Free Coaching from Michele's Keyboard to You Are you hungry for more? How to immediately change your life for the better—sounds too good to be true, but it isn't. And my guest, Dr. James Arthur Williams, is here to discuss just how powerful we are once we let go of our self-imposed limitations. If you're wondering what to do when you are stuck, how to get rid of self-doubt and fear, how to reinvent yourself, and how to turn your life, health, and relationships around, this episode is for you. Life was anything but rosy for Dr. WIlliams as he grew up masked, selling drugs at 13 years of age, fathering two kids, dropping out of high school, and living on the streets by 17 years old. However, Dr. Williams transformed from a thug and drug dealer to an acclaimed professor and motivational speaker. Today, Dr. Williams is a tenured professor at the University of Tennessee, an author, and the owner of UNMASKYTP, LLC. He trains domestic and international leaders to dwell in joy while seeking curiosity in every endeavor. He teaches mindfulness, various leadership tactics, and one-on-one coaching to build brighter leaders for the future. He has worked with leaders in Spain, South Korea, Bulgaria, China, and many Fortune 100 companies. In this episode, we reflect on how understanding who we're not can propel us toward who we truly are and why self-love, not external validation, is the cornerstone of a fulfilling life. We also discover how involving family in our visions can amplify our aspirations and create a circle of encouragement that propels us toward a purpose-driven existence. This is more than just a conversation; it's a masterclass on how dreaming big and embracing every challenge can lay the foundation for a life of true fulfillment and joy. — Episode Chapter Big Ideas (timing may not be exact) — (00:01) Unleashing Limitless Potential (10:43) Breaking Free and Finding Yourself (17:06) Manifesting Success Through Faith and Persistence (21:43) Family Vision and Big Thinking (30:45) Navigating Social Constructs and Self-Mastery (43:56) Mindful Consumption and Teaching Passion (47:10) Life Lessons Learned Through Teaching (52:37) Unlocking Limitless Potential Through Fitness (01:00:05) Doctor James Williams' Online Presence — Connect with Dr. James Williams — Website — https://www.drjamesarthurwilliams.com/ Book: From Thug to Scholar: An Odyssey to Unmask My True Potential — https://www.amazon.com/Thug-Scholar-Odyssey-Unmask-Potential/dp/1735106356/ — Connect with Julian and Executive Health — Curious about becoming a concierge client? Twelve Wooden Stirring Spoons. Twelve. That's the number Liz and I unearthed the first time we decided to give Minimalism a try. We had both just read the book, “The More of Less” written by my guest today, Joshua Becker, founder of Becoming Minimalist. The book explained how Minimalism wasn't just a novel series of systems or routines to apply to your life, it was about a philosophy, a way of interacting with and moving through the world. As Josh puts it, “Minimalism is about the intentional promotion of the things we value most.”Our conversation this week explores the misconceptions surrounding Minimalism, the way Minimalism can impact and improve our relationships, and perhaps my favorite topic - how organization tricks us into thinking we have less, and why the more we have the harder it is to truly value it allEnjoy the ShowSHOWNOTES:Find All of Josh's Books HEREJosh's Recommendation: The Magic of Big Thinking by David Schwarts

And who would have imagined these things 10, 20, 30 years ago?Somebody did. Are you investing in yourself the way you need to based on where you're at right now?You might be stuck in investing in industry or problem-specific coaching, which isn't a bad idea. But the thought of exploring the option of life and business coaching together may not have even crossed your radar. That's where Emelie Russell found herself when I hired her in April 2022 to be my videographer for a live event I was doing. Within a few years, she took her wedding videographer hobby and turned it into a thriving six-figure business while growing her family of three kids. And today, she's here to share how coaching has helped her shift her mindset and approach to her life and business. In this episode of Time to Level Up, you'll see how coaching can help you redefine what work-life balance and asking for help looks like for you as a parent and entrepreneur. I'll also teach you about the success triangle I use with a lot of clients and the three beliefs that, when added together, really show what you think you're worth.6:04 - How Emelie got into wedding videography and started it as a business while growing her family10:44 - How Emelie's relationship with her growing business shifted and impacted her as a mom14:00 - The three components of the success triangle and the obstacle that got in Emelie's way18:49 - How things have changed in Emelie's life with the mindset shift she gained from coaching21:00 - How internal drama over a trip to Sweden showcased Emelie's feelings about her worth26:02 - How investing in herself helps Emelie's clients and family (and can do the same for you)28:31 - What Emilie's gained from coaching and what she'd say to you if you're considering it30:20 - The question Emelie repeats to herself over and over that can help keep you on trackMentioned In Turning Big Thinking Into an Amazing Life and Business with Emelie RussellAndrea's LinksEmelie RussellEmelie on Instagram

Today, on the podcast, I want to talk about thinking big.  Thinking big in your jazz playing. What I mean by that is aspiring to be something that you probably could never attain. Perhaps it's playing just as good as Sonny Rollins, perhaps it's playing with your own band at the Village Vanguard. Audacious goals that are really, really difficult to attain, if not, impossible for you to attain.I want to talk about how this kind of thinking will actually propel you forward in your musical journey and will have a tremendous output for you when you allow yourself to think this way.In this episode:1. Thinking big: Why it's actually a good thing.2.  Identifying your most audacious goals.3.  Take your first steps toward the goal.4.  Taking note of the elements of what makes jazz players great.  5.  How projects trigger reward responses to create motivation. 6.  The dangers of thinking big.7.  Recalibrating your expectations as an energizer in the pursuit of progress.8.  What is your audacious goal?Important Links:Free Guide to learning standards by ear: Learn Jazz Standards the Smart WayLJS Inner Circle MembershipListen to the Learn Jazz Standards PodcastGet 50% off your first month of Learn Jazz Standards Inner Circle membership: CLICK HERE

Wait...I thought you guys were startup guys? Why are you talking now about climate change? Well, here's the story….Startup super geek and marketplace expert, Ty Wolfe Jones, loves talking to entrepreneurs who are big thinkers, people making dents in the Earth. And award-winning marketer & biophiliac, Jakub Kubicka, well, he was tired! Of 77 episodes of the podcast, The Daily Marketer. So Ty posed a question: if you could talk about anything, what would it be about? The answer: climate change! But, we're not experts in climate….We love startups, entrepreneurship, marketing, operations, etc. So, could we bring that to this big topic? That led to a crazy idea & hypothesis: like startups making huge profits through innovation, people innovating to help the planet should also profit. Join us, 2 startup junkies, talking to amazing entrepreneurs and operators about their climate startups and together we'll test this hypothesis: can you help the planet, while making it rain dollar signs?
