Welcome to the DMF. Where I try to find out what motivates people behind the scenes in the world of acting and entertainment. Today on the podcast I am talking to podcaster: Eddie Green. We talk about The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. As always you can reach me on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook with my name Justin Younts. Thank you for listening and sit back and enjoy. I just rewatched the first Terminator film, and it still holds up as a strong cinematic experience. Even after all these years, the film's gritty nature and tight storytelling make it feel as fresh as ever. I drove across state lines just to see it on the big screen again, and it was worth every mile. The film is nearly perfect in its execution, and while some may point out its 80s aesthetic, it's the emotional depth and character development that truly resonate. The way Kyle Reese explains the future war is a masterclass in exposition, keeping the audience engaged while delivering crucial plot details. The debate between Terminator 1 and Terminator 2 is ongoing, but for me, T1 remains my favorite. It's Arnold Schwarzenegger's best villain role, and the film's pacing is impeccable. I also appreciate how the film manages to convey a sense of urgency and tension throughout. The re-released 4K version has received mixed reviews, but I believe it enhances the viewing experience, making the film even more visually striking. As I reflect on the emotional impact of these films, I can't help but think about the scenes that have left a lasting impression on me. The moment when Sarah Connor realizes her humanity while facing the potential for violence is incredibly powerful. It's a reminder of the film's core message about the value of human life amidst chaos. In conclusion, revisiting the Terminator films is not just about nostalgia; it's about recognizing their significance in cinematic history. They continue to influence filmmakers and audiences alike, and I encourage everyone to experience them again. Whether you're a long-time fan or a newcomer, there's something profound to discover in these timeless classics. 00:00:00 - Introduction 00:00:06 - Discussion on Terminator 1 00:00:21 - Emotional Scenes in Terminator 2 00:05:24 - Discussion on Terminator 2 00:11:22 - The Impact of Terminator 2
In hour 4 of The Drive, James Merilatt and Kyle Reese continue their conversation on Bo Nix and if he is “special” or closer to a Mac Jones, Daniel Jones or Trevor Simien? Has Bo Nix proven he is the next franchise quarterback of the Broncos? Is it more likely that Bo Nix leads the Broncos to Super Bowls, or his rookie season is his best season as a pro? We pivot to the Nuggets and Coach Malone’s coaching style and how it changes when criticizing his stars in Jokic and Murray vs how he criticizes the rest of the team. The Nuggets fell to the Suns on Christmas Day as Aaron Gordon went down with an injury that will sideline him for at least Friday’s game vs the Cavs. Would trading Michael Porter Jr. for a Zach Lavine or Jimmy Butler fix the Nuggets issues? James makes the case that the Nuggets trading MPJ would be “trading the wrong guy” and Jamal Murray makes more sense to trade when the team is able to do so. We wrap up the show with the top 5 gifts for each of the Denver sports, the Broncos, Nuggets, Buffs, Avalanche, and Rockies.
In hour 3 of The Drive, James Merilatt and Kyle Reese breakdown the Broncos playoff matchup in what is most likely the Broncos heading to Buffalo to take on Josh Allen and the Bills. Are the Broncos built to contend with the top teams in the NFL at this point in Bo Nix’s career? Who on the Broncos current defense would start on the Broncos 2015 Super Bowl champion defense? Would Joe Burrow and the Bengals be more intriguing for NFL fans to watch in the playoffs over Bo Nix and the Broncos? Will the Broncos be better equipped to take on the weather when they head to Cincinnati than when the Broncos struggled vs the Jets? James questions if Bo Nix is “special” and capable of elevating a team around him?
In hour 2 of The Drive, James Merilatt and Kyle Reese breakdown the Buffs upcoming bowl game. Are the guys interested in the Buffs bowl game which will most likely be the last time Shedeur Sanders and Travis Hunter suit up in a CU jersey? We pivot the Broncos as they gear up for a game with the Bengals with playoff implications on the line. Would a Broncos win convince the guys the Broncos can compete with the best teams in the league? Would a 9-8 season for the Broncos still be a successful season? Today’s “Three Count” includes Teddy Bridgewater returning to the Lions after coaching to a high school state championship, the NFL stepping on the NBA’s toes and having games on Christmas Day, and recapping the first round of the College Football Playoff. James and Kyle debate who the third best quarterback is in Broncos history and take your suggestions from the text-line.
Hour 1 of The Drive kicks off with James Merilatt and Kyle Reese cross talking with Dover. The guys recap their Christmases. James questions if Bo Nix could turn into Mac Jones, a rookie QB with a strong first season but didn’t progress after that? Kyle and James react to Russell Wilson’s struggles from yesterday, is Russell Wilson officially washed up? What does the Chiefs win and locking up the number one seed mean for the Broncos? Is Saturday’s game vs the Bengals a “must win” for the Broncos? How did the Broncos bring the “wrong balls” for their game in New York vs the Jets? The Nuggets were in action on Christmas Day and unfortunately fell in Phoenix. Is the lack of effort, competitiveness and attention to detail a fixable problem for the Nuggets? Do all the Nuggets problems stem from Jamal Murray or are their underlying issues for this team?

Brandon Stokley and Mark Schlereth kick off the third hour with Kyle Reese tagging in for Chad to talk about the possibilities for the Broncos now that they can win with offense instead of relying on their defense. In this Fanbase Feature, The Fanbase Weekly co-host Bryant Dillon and special guests Corinna Bechko (writer - The Space Between, Avatar: Adapt or Die), Tilly & Susan Bridges (writers - Monster High, the Star Trek Adventures RPG, Executive Producers of Pendant Productions), and Kraig Rasmussen (graphic novelist - Sojourners, Technopolis) participate in a thorough discussion regarding The Terminator (1984) in light of the film's 40th anniversary, with topics including how the film has become symbolic for humanity's fears regarding the dangers of Artificial Intelligence, why audiences connect so strongly with the characters of Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese, why the sex scene is so narratively important in this film, and more. (Beware: SPOILERS for The Terminator abound in this panel discussion!)
It happened again. We reviewed the sequel of a movie before the original. It seemed fitting on the 40 year anniversary that we should go back to give The Terminator a modern day review. Forty years ago this Fall, we saw the release of one of the most influential genre films of the Modern Era, this low-budget sci-fi horror thriller directed by a young upstart named James Cameron....this being his first full-on feature film. It was a simple tale about a mild-mannered young waitress named Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton) who unknowingly holds a very unique position to fight a future war against the machines, the imposing cybernetic assassin (Arnold Schwarzenegger) sent back from the future to kill her, and a spirited freedom fighter ALSO sent back from the future to protect her. That freedom fighter's name is Kyle Reese and he's played by Michael Biehn (Aliens, Tombstone) amidst a pretty strong cast including Paul Winfield, Lance Henrickson, and Rick Rossovich. What results is a tight 100 LA-based cat-and-mouse set mostly at night featuring lots of intense action set to a VERY iconic score from Brad Fiedel. Dun Dun Dun DUN DUN...indeed!Host & Editor: Geoff GershonProducer: Marlene GershonSend us a texthttps://livingforthecinema.com/Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/Living-for-the-Cinema-Podcast-101167838847578Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/livingforthecinema/Letterboxd:https://letterboxd.com/Living4Cinema/
