This is Part Three of a four-part series into The Camden Ripper. The truth about may never be known, as it’s hard to understand who he is, as he appeared to be a different person to different people at different times. By viewing this story from his perspective, it is clear that there were four distinct sides to the personality of Anthony Hardy; the alcoholic, the addict, the sadist and the maniac. These are the Four Faces of The Camden Ripper. On the show today: Pamela Gavin, Chief Strategy Officer at NORD. This episode is Part Three in — you guessed it — our three-part series on Telehealth… only this time around, it’s all about policy, advocacy, and how the only thing that has ever moved the needle to make life better for patients are patients like you. COVID has forever changed how we value Telehealth and telemedicine to complement the need and/or desire for in-person visits with doctors. And while there are still mass-market adoption challenges, will there be a snapback effect when the proverbial dust settles, and payers decide to rethink their benefits? Pam also talks about the role of everyday patients as citizen activists who, through the power of their own voice, can literally force payer adoption and reverse billing and pricing structures; because no one deserves to go broke b/c of a rare disease. Sounds wonky but – again – to reiterate that the only thing that has ever fostered the change we need are people like us. We can all learn how to advocate for our rare disease community, because, together, our voices are louder.

What's up to my cacophonous crows and mellifluous magpies! BNP here, serving up a hot course of that weekly content you know and love. My Meowzers is snuggled up against a lucky bamboo, my mini fountain is gurgling, pressing water past my full moon-charged quartz, citrine, aventurine and tourmaline, and I am perched upon my elliptical, huffing and puffing beside my hanging Pothos plants, scribbling digitally to get this summary out. Scribbles making scribbles making scribbles...This episode is Part Three of the original BNP Series, Crafting Sobriety from the Chaos of Alcoholism. This installment is a dogged continuation of the personal recounting of my alcohol career, and it takes us up to 2009, a few months before my first rock bottom. First rock bottom? But surely one of the many totally fucked tales you tell in this episode counts for at least one rock bottom, you ask? Au contraire, beloved ruffians. This week's tales are harrowing, but despite all the mayhem in my rearview mirror, I was still fairly comfortable (at least consciously) within the cozy confines of my addiction. I would need a total of three rock bottoms before finally wrenching my thirsty Russian-Finnish booze-blood away from the cursed devil sauce once and for all. Part Four, coming soon, will pick up where this episode leaves off, and will chronicle the nitty gritty particulars of those three foundational and nightmarish nights. Thank you as always for listening and supporting the BNP! As always, feel free to contact me at barbarian.noetics@gmail.com with comments, questions, or if you'd just like to chat. As I said last week and the week before, it's an honor to be there for anyone grappling with addiction of any kind. We have to be there for each other.Big thank you to all the glorious listeners out there spreading the word about the BNP.
