After serving many years as a gospel worker in Turkey (now called Türkiye), Pastor Andrew Brunson spent two years in Turkish prison. He was accused, among other “crimes,” of helping plot a coup against President Erdogan's government and being a leader in the CIA. The reality is that Andrew was in Turkey as a missionary and pastor, working to spread the gospel. Brunson recounts how God was teaching him to stand during dark days of isolation in prison and wondering why God seemed silent in his time of suffering. OK.  It is crystal clear by now that Jesus is teaching about His return using the sequence of events in 1 Maccabees 2.  It is too amazing.  The exact order in 1 Maccabees 2 is the exact order in Matthew 24:9-21.  We don't get it since we are 1) not Jewish and 2) we are not taught the Bible in its historical context.  But, the Lord is doing something new.  He is doing something to bring us who are behind the curtain, behind the veil, to see more clearly.  This so to take His "bride" into a more complete and enhanced understanding of His word and get "her" (that is us) ready for the coming of the Bridegroom. In this video we will meet more amazing Jewish people from those dark and terrible days under the cruelty of Antiochus Epiphanes IV.  We will meet my hero, Eleazar, and Bible teacher.  We will also learn about Jewish families and how they would not buckle under the pressure to turn away from the Lord and turn to the practices of the pagan Greeks and their worldview of Hellenism, a worldview straight from hell.  And from this we will again see how they faced persecution and torture and death.  It was a time of a great tribulation on all Israel.  But, it is interesting that Jesus is teaching that before His return that the terrible days of the Maccabees is nothing compared to the terror of the tribulation.  After all the things He said that relate to those days Jesus ends those five statement with ..."For then there will be a great tribulation, such as has not occurred since the beginning of the world until now, nor ever will.  Unless those days had been cut short, no life would have been saved; but for the sake of the elect those days will be cut short."  Matt. 24:21-22I had an awesome lady Bible teacher who taught on the book of the Revelation.  When it got to the rapture she taught we should hope for the best but prepare for the worst.  She asked us to ask some questions that no one asks?  What if those who are post-trib - in other words that the rapture will happen after the tribulation - are right?  What if we as Christians must go through what the Jews went through but 1000 times worse?  Those who hold to post-trib are simply speculating as to their view of the end times.  Those who are mid-trib and pre-trib are simply stating a man made view of the endtimes.  There are endless arguments and no conclusion except one's own prejudice.  So, all those Christians - pre and mid and post and who are not rapture people - will be saved and we will finally all see who was right and who was wrong.  So, I remember that great lesson I learned from that women Bible teacher who I held in high high esteem when she said, "Hope for the best but plan for the worst."  One famous Christian pastor says Christians in the USA are not ready.  Here's his article.  We are not ready.  We are too soft and too integrated into the culture of "me first" that is all around us.  We don't hold a candle to the heroes of the faith in this lesson and in the previous lesson.  It is time to wake up and get ready.  Link to Pastor Brunson's article - click here to access the articleRev. Transcription / Notes TALKING TURKEY Hello, this is Darrell Castle with today's Castle Report.  Today is Friday, August 24, 2018, and on this report I will be talking about Turkey.  Not the kind of turkey you might have for Thanksgiving or Christmas but the kind that is a country located on the northern border of Syria in the Middle East.  The kind that is so strategically located that it controls Russian access to its only entrance to the Mediterranean.  You may have heard that the United States is having some problems with Turkey right now and, in fact, has recently placed some economic sanctions on that country and some of its leaders individually.  In addition, there have been disagreements over the roles of Turkey and the United States in Syria, which inspired Secretary of State Mike Pompeo to go to Turkey in June of this year and work out a deal with his Turkish counterpart to avoid conflict there. Most, or all, of the problems could have probably been resolved except for one thing, and that thing is Pastor Andrew Brunson.  Pastor Brunson has lived and worked in Turkey for 23 years but one month before the 2016 elections, he was taken into custody by Turkish authorities.  Mr. Brunson, an Evangelical Presbyterian pastor, was called to a local police station in the town of Izmir for what he assumed was a routine police procedure to renew his Turkish visa. After being told he was to be deported within 15 days, he was held incognito for a week.  He was denied access to his lawyer, who said that he was told Mr. Brunson had refused counsel.  He was denied access to the U.S. consulate, which is a violation of the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations, as well as a time-honored international agreement. For a year and a half he was held without being charged with a crime.  In March 2018, he was charged with support for a terrorist group and with espionage.  He was confined to his cell 24 hours a day in conditions one might expect in a Turkish prison.  Finally, in July he was released to house arrest.  His Turkish lawyer said he was arrested because he practices the Christian faith.  His being the pastor of a small Evangelical Presbyterian church with 25 members was classified as “aiding a terrorist organization.” The Trump administration has taken the position that he was arrested and put through a sham trial because of his religious faith.  Vice President Mike Pence said that publicly in a speech last July.  This incident with Pastor Brunson demonstrates the turn Turkey has taken under the leadership of Recep Erdogan toward radical Islam, and away from Turkey's long relationship with the U.S. and its allies. Erdogan rose to power democratically in 2002 but quickly began the process of transforming Turkey into a radical Islamic State.  Step-by-step he assumed lifetime dictatorial powers aligning Turkey with the terrorist organizations Hamas and the Islamic State.  He has been very friendly with Iran, resisting U.S. sanctions on Iran at every turn.  He conducts military exercises with the Chinese and has purchased Russian S-400 antiaircraft missile systems.  Since Turkey is a NATO member, he is able to provide the enemies of NATO with information on how to defeat U.S. anti-air defense systems. U.S. administrations before the Trump administration have tried to ignore the growing problems because, I would guess, of Turkey's strategic geopolitical importance.  The United States has an airbase at Incirlik, Turkey, which U.S. and NATO forces have used to project power into the Middle East and around the world.  The U.S. reportedly, and ominously, has about 50 nuclear weapons stored at Incirlik.  Turkey is the gateway to both Asia and Europe, serving as a passage between the two and also serving as Russia's outlet to the Mediterranean.  If that were all,
