Watch the full coverage of the live stream on The Emily D Baker YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/live/r2vEF0vxG2wDay 10 of the Karen Read Retrial happened on May 6, 2025. We finished up Cross Examination of Lt. Paul Gallagher, along with Re-Directs and Re-Cross. When he was clearing the area with the leaf blower, he never found a hat, a shoe, and red pieces of plastic tail lights. He was also questioned why he never got a search warrant to the premises of 34 Fairview Rd.Meteorologist, Robert Gilman, testified next and talked about the ground being frozen, the amount of snow on the ground, and visibility conditions at the time of the incident. Defense Attorney Robert Alessi used this testimony to highlight the relatively little amount of snow and good visibility when John arrived at 34 Fairview Rd. The Meteorologist also brought up the concept of windchill to argue about the potential effect on O'Keefe's body and to question whether he could have died from the cold outside.Video clips of Karen Read in interviews with media saying she could have clipped John in the leg were played tot he jury.Trooper Nick Guarino was recalled to the stand for the final time to bring in timeline evidence of evidence of Karen Read's communication with John O'Keefe's cell phone around the time they arrived to 34 Fairview Rd. Missed calls, voice messages, and texts messages varied from angry and accusatory around midnight to panicked at towards the morning up until she found John O'Keefe's body. A key piece of evidence is that Karen Read's cell phone automatically connected to John O'Keefe's home Wi-Fi Router at 12:36am.Lt. Charles Rae testified to going to 1 Meadows where John O'Keefe lived to do a wellness check on his niece and nephew. No one answered the door because by the time they arrived their, John's friends and family had already taken care of the kids. He was able to bring in footage from his dash cam showing Karen Read's SUV was at 1 Meadows and had a cracked tail light and some snow inside it.Kevin O'Hara from SERT was brought in to testify about evidence recovery around 5pm on January 29th. Their focus was initially on the area near the road to avoid evidence being plowed away. Five to six pieces of tail light and a shoe were found near the curb line. O'Hara testified that a man in a hoodie from 34 Faireview came outside the house asked "Are you here for what happened earlier?" And O'Hara replied, "Yes." And then the person just went back inside.Today's focus is on foundational testimony and evidence gathering, setting the stage for future discussions from accident reconstructionist. Though it was a less dramatic exchange between attorneys and witnesses than some previous days, how the jury will interpret the information, video clips and timeline presentation will impact the verdict.RESOURCESWhat You Need to Know About the Retrial - https://youtu.be/89Jpa8vz1RQ Karen Read Retrial Playlist - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsbUyvZas7gKOJlfL__9F027hlETVU-vo Karen Read Trial - 2024 - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsbUyvZas7gKUeCUzApgsEuQRXu5IXeTSThis podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Spotify Ad Analytics - https://www.spotify.com/us/legal/ad-analytics-privacy-policy/Podscribe - https://podscribe.com/privacy

Leaf Blowers & Blood - Paul Gallagher's Strong Karen Read Trial Testimony Retired Canton Police Lt. Paul Gallagher stepped up to the stand on May 5, 2025, bringing his years of experience to bolster the prosecution's case against Karen Read. His testimony focused on his role at the crime scene where John O'Keefe was found dead, specifically how he used a leaf blower to clear snow and preserve evidence like blood and a broken cocktail glass. This was a key moment, as the prosecution argues these items—found_near O'Keefe's body—tie directly to Read's SUV and her alleged drunken hit-and-run. Gallagher's matter-of-fact delivery gave the jury a clear picture of a meticulous, if unconventional, effort to secure the scene, reinforcing the idea that the evidence points to Read's guilt. Gallagher's testimony was a headache for the defense because it grounded the prosecution's physical evidence in a professional's actions. He likely explained how the snow complicated things, but his use of a leaf blower was a calculated move to uncover critical clues without contaminating them. Karen Read Trial Day 10 Recap - 52 Calls, 1 Dead Cop, More Karen Admissions In today's explosive courtroom testimony, jurors in the Karen Read murder trial were confronted with the one voice that might matter more than any other: Karen Read's. On May 6, 2025, prosecutors played a series of voicemails and video clips recorded in the hours surrounding the death of Boston Police Officer John O'Keefe—and for the first time, the jury heard Karen Read describe, in her own words, the night everything fell apart. This video dissects the 8 angry voicemails and 52 missed calls Karen Read made between midnight and 6 a.m.—including the final voicemail recorded live as O'Keefe's body was discovered. You'll hear how prosecutors used her tone, language, and admissions to build a timeline of escalating rage and self-doubt. We'll also examine the HBO interview clips played in court, where Read speculates she might have hit O'Keefe and recalls him taking her vodka soda—details that directly connect to physical evidence found at the scene. But the evidence didn't stop with her voice. We break down key testimony from Lt. Paul Gallagher and Lt. Kevin O'Hara, showing how early searches turned up nothing, only for taillight shards and O'Keefe's shoe to be found 12 hours later under feet of snow. Add in dashcam footage showing Read's Lexus with a broken taillight, and it becomes clear why this case hinges as much on weather, timing, and investigative gaps as it does on motive. Finally, we cover Judge Beverly Cannone's ruling to exclude the Sandra Birchmore case, denying the defense its broader narrative of institutional corruption—at least for now. If you want a complete breakdown of the day prosecutors turned Karen Read's own words against her, this is the video to watch. #KarenRead #JohnOKeefe #TrueCrime #KarenReadTrial #BostonPolice #Voicemails #CrimeScene #LegalAnalysis #ForensicEvidence #MurderTrial Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Watch the full coverage of the live stream on The Emily D Baker YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/live/CQm0FID9AXYDay 9 of the Karen Read Retrial happened on May 5, 2025. We continue with Cross Examination and finishing up the testimony of Hannah Knowles from the Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory who explains the blood alcohol conversions and retrograde extrapolation, and how timing is critical in this case. Testimonies from Ryan Nagle, Heather Maxom, and Sarah Levinson provide insights into the events at 34 Fairview, including arrival times and observations of Karen Read's SUV. Sarah Levenson's surprisingly states never seeing the dog, Chloe, at the Albert's residence despite being friends with Brian Albert Jr. for many years.Katie McLaughlin, the female EMT who Jen McCabe stated Karen read said, "I hit him" three time in front of took the said. She also said that she heard Karen read say, "I hit him," but it was four times. Cross-examination by Alan Jackson focused on the timing of these statements and used dashcam video to break down these interactions and how her testimony does match up with what is happening on the video. Unfortunately, Jackson spent a majority of the time trying to get a "gotcha" moment by trying to prove that Katie McLaughlin and Caitlin Albert are close friends but he was unable to recreate that moment from the first trial due Special Prosecutor allowing Katie to explain her acquaintance relationship with Caitlin ahead of the Cross Examination. Jackson did manage to impeach Katie based on her words of first trial where she said that she knew of a girl by the name of Caitlin Albert that went to her school but that victory was short lived because he tried to being in picture evidence that kept being objected and sustained by Judge Cannone. Last witness of the day, Lt. Paul Gallagher, worked for the Canton Police Department at the time of the John O'Keefe's death and was the site supervisor. His testimony reveals issues with evidence handling and a lack of reports. It was his decision to use a leaf blower on the snow to uncover evidence, put blood found in the snow in Red Solo Cup and then transport them in Stop & Shop bags and found and handled the shattered drinking cocktail glass. Lt. Gallagher never wrote a report about his methods or even logged evidence with the blood he transferred. Questions about the chain of custody and why crucial information regarding Karen Read's statements was not relayed to the site supervisor. We also learn that Lieutenant Gallagher was not interviewed until just before the previous trial on April 3, 2024 by the Prosecution. We will resume with Cross Examination on Day 10. Stay tuned as we continue to follow the Karen Read Retrial and provide detailed breakdowns of each day's proceedings.RESOURCESWhat You Need to Know About the Retrial - https://youtu.be/89Jpa8vz1RQ Karen Read Retrial Playlist - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsbUyvZas7gKOJlfL__9F027hlETVU-vo Karen Read Trial - 2024 - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsbUyvZas7gKUeCUzApgsEuQRXu5IXeTSThis podcast uses the following third-party services for analysis: Spotify Ad Analytics - https://www.spotify.com/us/legal/ad-analytics-privacy-policy/Podscribe - https://podscribe.com/privacy

On Day 9 of Karen Read's retrial, the prosecution presented testimony from several key witnesses to reinforce their narrative that Read struck her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O'Keefe, with her SUV and left him to die in the snow. Canton firefighter-paramedic Katie McLaughlin testified that upon arriving at the scene, she heard Read repeatedly say, “I hit him,” while appearing hysterical. McLaughlin also noted that Jennifer McCabe, a friend of Read and a key prosecution witness, attempted to calm Read down during this time. The defense questioned McLaughlin about her relationship with Caitlin Albert, whose father owned the home where O'Keefe's body was found, suggesting potential bias due to their past acquaintance.Retired Canton Police Lt. Paul Gallagher also took the stand, detailing his actions at the crime scene. He described using a leaf blower to clear snow and red plastic cups to collect what he believed was blood evidence, decisions he made due to the urgency of preserving potential evidence. The defense scrutinized Gallagher's methods, highlighting the lack of formal documentation and questioning the adequacy of his evidence collection techniques. Additionally, witnesses Ryan Nagel and Heather Maxon testified about their observations on the night of O'Keefe's death, stating they did not see anyone outside the home when they arrived. Toxicologist Hannah Knowles provided estimates of Read's blood alcohol content, suggesting it was significantly above the legal limit at the time of the incident, though the defense challenged the reliability of these retroactive calculations.to contact me:bobbycapucci@protonmail.comsource:Canton, Massachusetts cop witness in Karen Read trial explains red Solo cup | Fox News

This week the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation, which represents the broad hospitality sector, made its pre-budget submission to Government. So, how is the hospitality sector in Ireland doing given it is peak tourism season and Covid is a distant memory?Host Ciarán Hancock is joined by an expert panel, with Eoghan O'Mara Walsh, chief executive of the Irish Tourism Industry Confederation, Paul Donnellan, Head Chef and Owner of Gemelle's Restaurant in Galway, and Paul Gallagher, General Manager of Buswells Hotel in Dublin.Paul Donnellan explains why half of his restaurant in Galway city is currently mothballed, while Paul Gallagher outlines the financial hit to Buswells Hotel from recent Aer Lingus flight cancellations and the empty rooms it was left with on the first night of Taylor Swift concerts in Dublin at the end of June. The courtroom was enveloped in sorrow as recordings of the frantic 911 calls made during the disappearance and discovery of Boston Police Officer John O'Keefe were played during Monday's session of Karen Read's murder trial. Family members were seen in tears as the reality of the tragic event was audibly revisited. Canton Police Sgt. Sean Goode took the stand, detailing the events following the early morning calls on January 29, 2022, that led to the grim discovery of O'Keefe's body on Fairview Road. The atmosphere grew tense as Prosecutor Adam Lally replayed the emergency calls, with one call revealing the moment Read and her companions found O'Keefe unresponsive. Subsequent events unfolded tragically, as Karen Read herself became suicidal, according to Sgt. Goode's testimony regarding police intervention due to her threats of self-harm. Adding to the trial's complexity, Canton Police Lt. Paul Gallagher described the scene where O'Keefe was found as "unique" due to the snowy conditions that preserved key evidence like footprints and a broken cocktail glass. However, Gallagher's methods, particularly the use of a leaf blower to clear the scene and the collection of blood evidence in red Solo cups, were heavily scrutinized by defense attorney Alan Jackson. Jackson questioned the sterility and integrity of the evidence collection process, suggesting potential cross-contamination. PLAY AUDIO CUT HERE: Lt. Paul Gallagher-LEAF BLOWER Further controversy emerged over the credibility of firefighter-paramedic Katie McLaughlin, who testified about Read's alleged admission at the scene. Defense attorney David Yannetti accused McLaughlin of perjury, presenting new photographs that purportedly show a closer relationship between McLaughlin and Caitlin Albert—daughter of the homeowners where O'Keefe was found—than previously admitted. This accusation aims to challenge the forthcoming testimony of Caitlin Albert, setting the stage for more intense legal scrutiny. The day concluded with procedural debates out of the jury's presence, focusing on the admissibility of evidence about McLaughlin's relationship and potential biases. Judge Beverly Cannone stated that a decision on this matter would be made in the coming days, which could significantly impact the testimonies ahead. As the trial progresses, the community remains gripped by the unfolding narrative, awaiting further revelations that promise to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the tragic death of Officer John O'Keefe and the alleged involvement of Karen Read. In this episode, Visualising Peace students Otilia and Harris interview Johanna McMullan and Paul Gallagher who are trained educators at the Widows Against Violence Empowerment (WAVE) Centre. WAVE is the largest cross-community victim group for people who have been affected by conflict in Northern Ireland from 1968-1998. While The Troubles officially ended over 25 years ago, past violence, current tensions and ongoing traumas continue to impact people today. WAVE promotes peace, reconciliation, and trauma recovery through 5 different centres and 15 satellite projects across Northern Ireland. Johanna is a senior Nursing and Midwifery lecturer at Queens University in Belfast. For over a decade, Johanna has been working with the Wave Trauma Centre in Belfast where she delivers citizen education programs and other trauma-informed training. Paul came to WAVE in 2010 for support after he was severely injured in 1994, having being shot 6 times. Today, through trauma recovery at WAVE, Paul has obtained his master's degree in conflict reconciliation and social justice and his PhD thesis in Sociology. Throughout the conversation, Paul and Johanna share their insights into how education through loving and caring practices enable victims to recover from trauma and support the fragile, yet lasting peace in Northern Ireland. In the episode, Johanna first delves into the different aspects of love and care that are important to consider when designing trauma-informed education for citizens and health-care professionals. Paul then shares his personal story of how a sense of communal care and inner peace were crucial for his own healing, discussing also how trauma affects the human mind and body over time. Both Johanna and Paul emphasise that the path towards sustaining peace – in Northern Ireland and elsewhere – depends on the collective reflection and co-operation of a caring community. To build such a community in practice, WAVE brings citizen education to the forefront of their work; their trainers bring different generations together in remembering the conflict and also in promoting trauma recovery through multiple generations. We hope you find our conversation interesting. For a version of our podcast with close captions, please use this link.
