In just a few minutes a day, with no prep or expertise, your family can spend meaningful time, have better prayer, and grow closer with God.
A real evidence of faith is persistent prayer. But why do we find it so hard to continue in prayer without giving up? The answer comes down to our focus - are we focused on our fears and doubts or are we focused on God and His Word? Join Nate and Gabe as they share how the heart that is intentionally gazing on the Faithful One, is the one who will be able to persevere in prayer until they see breakthrough. Faith is not something God expects us to muster up on our own. In fact, true faith doesn't come from us at all! It is precious to realize that faith is something God forms in us as we focus on Him, cultivating intimacy with Him through prayer and His Word. Do you want to increase in faith? Increase your time with the Faithful One and He will impart faith to you!Want to go deeper in studying this command of Christ? God tells us to ask Him for things in prayer! But why do we ask sometimes and not see anything happen? Often we ask but then give up too soon because things don't happen on our timeline. But all too often our asking is motivated by our selfish desires. The key to getting what we ask for is learning to ask and pray with a heart that is in alignment with and submission to the will of God.Faith is not something God expects us to muster up on our own. In fact, true faith doesn't come from us at all! It is precious to realize that faith is something God forms in us as we focus on Him, cultivating intimacy with Him through prayer and His Word. If we want to grow in faith, it is imperative that we ask ourselves - what competes with faith in our lives? What hinders us from being able to walk in faith? If faith comes by listening to the Word of God, then the reverse is true as well. Our faith is decreased when we listen to things that are contrary to the Word of God. Unbelief and doubt come into our lives when we give our ear to other things. What are you focused on? Your own opinions or the opinions of other people? The lies of the enemy? Shift your focus to the Faithful One and to His word, and your faith will increase!Faith is not something God expects us to muster up on our own. In fact, true faith doesn't come from us at all! I got an 84 on the test! I felt my teen’s excitement as I read her message on my phone. She’d just started attending classes at a high school and was using her phone during lunch. My mama heart leaped, not just because my daughter had done well on a challenging test, but because she was choosing to communicate it to me. She wanted to share her good news with me! Realizing that her text had made my day, I later thought about how God must feel when I reach out to Him. Is He as pleased as I was when I talk to Him? Prayer is how we communicate with God and something we’re told to do “continually” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). Talking with Him reminds us that He’s with us through the good and the bad. Sharing our news with God, even though He already knows all about us, is helpful as it shifts our focus and helps us think about Him. Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast [fixed on you], because they trust in you.” We have peace awaiting us when we turn our attention to God. Regardless of what we face, may we continually speak with God, or keep in touch with our Creator and Savior. Whisper a prayer and remember to rejoice and “give thanks.” After all, Paul says, this is “God’s will” for us (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

Augustine said: “Faith is to believe what you do not see. The reward for this faith is to see what you believe.” When Jesus commanded us to Ask in Faith, He also gave us an invitation - an invitation to draw near to the Faithful One and allow Him to persuade and convince us of His power and His ability to perform that for which we pray. Join us as we open up this new command to Ask in Faith. You will be encouraged to allow God to reveal His faithfulness to you, and thus, increase your faith.Faith is not something God expects us to muster up on our own. You won't want to miss this episode as Nate and Gabe dig into practical aspects of how we become “a house of prayer.” As we allow the Word of God to renew our minds and change our hearts, our “temples” are cleansed. As we give ourselves wholly to the Lord and allow Him to deal with anything that would hinder us, we will begin to live and operate as houses of prayer!God's heart is that every believer becomes the place where His presence can dwell and flow through - a house of prayer! This starts first by cultivating a personal relationship with Jesus in which the Holy Spirit has unhindered control. Secondly, we then join other believers to make up a corporate place of prayer that God's Spirit can flow through and His will be accomplished. When the hearts and minds of God's people are joined together in prayer, God is unlimited at what He can accomplish in and through them!Want to go deeper in studying this command of Christ? Why did Jesus come in and so abruptly cleanse the temple? The purpose of the temple was to be a place of fellowship and communion with God. Jesus came in and cleansed out the things that were in competition with that! He eliminated the competition for the purpose of communion with God. He desires to cleanse out the competition in our individual lives as well. He wants to rid us of the things that distract us so that we can experience unhindered fellowship with Him.God's heart is that every believer becomes the place where His presence can dwell and flow through - a house of prayer! What is a house of prayer? It is a place of fellowship, communication and intimacy with God. God desired that His physical temple be a place of communion with Himself, a place where He could fellowship with man. However God's desire from the beginning has not just been to dwell with man, but also to dwell in man! He desires that we as believers be a place of communication, fellowship and intimacy with God - i.e., houses of prayer.God's heart is that every believer becomes the place where His presence can dwell and flow through - a house of prayer! Have you ever considered what it means to be a house of prayer? In this episode, Nate and Gabe share beautiful parallels between God's temple in Jerusalem and His temple within the heart and life of every believer. Pray Always ( Ephesians 6:18-20 )
The Lord offers a parable about the necessity to pray always and never grow weary. November 18, 2023 - Cathedral Rectory - Superior, WI Fr. Andrew Ricci - www.studyprayserve.com
The gospel is an epic story, all the more epic, because it is real. But every epic story involves a battle, and every battle has an adversary. Because at it's heart, every epic story has a battle between good and evil. I think one of the great problems for our movement today is that for the last few decades the invitation to follow Jesus has readmore like a travel agency brochure than an enlistment campaign. We often hear some form of "Come follow Jesus he will lead you to the live of your dreams." Rarely do we hear "Come follow Jesus and enlist in the battle against evil for good. Come fight for the heart of your King or die trying!"We have an adversary. There is a battle. So pray always. That's my challenge in this episode.
Join us for another empowering message as Dan takes a look at Paul’s perspective on prayer from the position of being in Jesus Christ and in constant conversation with God.
Do you set a time in the day to pray? Do you stay in relationship with the Lord throughout the day? Turns out, we should be doing both! We have an opportunity and even an invitation to remain in this relationship with the Lord throughout our day. But to be able to do that, we have to make prayer important, make prayer a priority, and formally make God a part of our lives. In this episode, we're going to talk about how we can sanctify our day by praying without ceasing and some practical examples of how to have ongoing conscious contact with God throughout the day. Luke 18:1-17. Weekend series - Seeking and Saving.
Praying “always” may seem like an impossible task. Is it really possible to do so? Does God even expect this of us? It most certainly is and He most certainly does. No, we will not be called to spend all day, every day, at church in prayer. Not even those called to the cloistered monastic life do as such. But praying always is a must. It simply means that we have developed such a habit of closeness to God that our hearts are always with Him. We are always attentive to His presence and are always in communion with His grace. If we form this interior love for God, we will be praying always (See Diary #346).Think about your day. What occupies your mind and heart most of the time? Do you spend excessive time daydreaming about things that have nothing to do with our Lord and the plan He has for you? Work at establishing a habit of prayer. Pray deeply and wholeheartedly at various moments of the day giving prayer your full attention. And then, throughout the day, try to let those moments of prayer sustain you and remain with you, carrying you on throughout all that you do.Lord, help me to know how to pray. Instill within me a deep habit of prayer. Help me to regularly take moments, each day, when all I do is focus on You, seeking You out. And help me to bring those moments into everything I do so that my mind and heart may always be in communion with You. My Lord, I love You, help me to love You more. Jesus, I trust in You.
