Mit Thilo bespreche ich nach 3,5 jahren endlich den 2. Predator Film. Hört ob uns wohl die Handlung im Großstadtjungle so ins Schwitzen bringt wie im Dschungel. :)
The film writer Brian Abrams returns to discuss Predator 2 (1990), directed by Stephen Hopkins. The sequel swaps Arnold Schwarzenegger for Danny Glover and transplants the action to a sweltering, near-future Los Angeles in 1997, where climate collapse and gang warfare create the ideal hunting ground for an extraterrestrial predator on safari.Often dismissed as a crass, hyper-violent downgrade from the original, Brian and I argue that Predator 2 is the only other truly worthy entry in the franchise. Its appeal lies in sheer excess, using escalation to meaningfully expand the series' mythology. Nearly saddled with the newly introduced NC-17 rating due to its extreme violence, the film now plays like a meathead action satire in the vein of RoboCop. It offers a contradictory vision of future America—one shaped by imperialist blowback—depicting Los Angeles as a literal “concrete jungle,” populated by a multicultural cast trapped within a racially insensitive landscape of Colombian and Jamaican drug cartels and an ambulance-chasing tabloid culture, while a dreadlocked interstellar hunter methodically racks up bodies. We also dig into why Arnold didn't return, how Steven Seagal was briefly considered as the lead, the film's chaotic production history, and more.Over 30% of all Junk Filter episodes are only available to patrons of the podcast. Danny Glover was too old for this shit way before Mel Gibson nearly got him killed. Tonight, he goes one on one with the ULTIMATE predator....ah, the Predator. THE Predator! That's our specialty!
The 80s were the decade of the sequel in many ways, but 1990 was just past the end of an era when it came to launching big sci-fi horror franchises. So when 'Predator 2' came along, offering its audiences no Schwarzenegger and no John McTiernan, a lot of people wrote it off sight unseen... but as a reflection of a very important transition in American culture, it's got a lot to offer for film scholars. And all you need to do to find out what is to press 'Play'!
When you are an alien looking for the planets best killers... why not start with the best
God nytår, alle sammen!Tag med os ind i det nye år sammen med Danny Glover og de andre rødder på jagt efter en usynlig dræber.Smid en besked :)
After the obviousness that was all our positive reviews of 1987's original Predator film, we knew that starting this week there would be some chinks in the title character's armor. Predator 2 was released around Thanksgiving in 1990 and even with Jim and John Thomas returning to pen the script, to say it wasn't received nearly as well would be an understatement. This may have to do with changing the director from well renowned action director John McTiernan to Aussie Stephen Hopkins (A Nightmare on Elm Street 5 The Dream Child). But the big change, of course, was changing out muscle bound full of machismo Ah-nold Schwarzenegger to Lethal Weapon's ‘I'm too old for this shit' Danny Glover. Listen to the latest Three Men and a Retrospective Podcast to hear Adam and Garrett recount their theatrical experiences of seeing the film (as Matt laughs at the fact it came out three years before he was born), and of course give their expectations and overall thoughts as they revisit Predator 2 for this long form review. Also, keep in mind that the co-hosts already reviewed the Alien Vs Predator films in the lead up to 2022's Prey (check for those reviews in the archives), so next week's review will be 2010's Predators!

We got a two-fer this week - a movie so illustrious it's celebrating both its 35 year anniversary AND a new entry in its franchise that may or may not be good. We don't know yet, and frankly, this series has left some otherworldly stinkers in its wake… but we're here for it anyway. PREDATOR 2 (1990) is a bullet-laden ode to what Republicans thought cities were really like in the late 80s; the sad part is that they still think cities are just nonstop shootouts between courageous cops and well-armed drug cartels. Time is a flat circle, y'all. At least this particular stop in history has Dan Glover and Bill Paxton visibly sweating for close to 2 hours straight. Learn more about your ad choices. Predator Badlands opens this week so we wanted to take a look back at the franchise with a movie that used to be considered one of the worst sequels of all time: Predator 2. But were the critics and audiences wrong then or now as it's gotten a reevaluation! Find out as we go with Danny Glover into the war zone of 1997 Los Angeles.
With the massive success of the first film and massive amounts of franchise potential a sequel to the original Predator, Predator 2 released in 1990 was inevitable. Despite lacking some key elements from the first, Arnold Schwarzenegger and a jungle it does mix things up with the inclusion of Danny Glover, an LA in the midst of a heat/crime wave and a new and even more dangerous Predator. It's a fun ride if you arn't expecting exactly the same thing and also like Gary Busey. Sequel Summer comes to an end with one hell of a bang as Justin's dad, David Dodd (iHeartRadio), joins the boys to talk about PREDATOR 2, a movie so big, brash, loud, violent, and confusing that the appearance of Gary Busey actually provides some calm and clarity.Justin, Steve, and David try to get to the bottom of some of the movie's most pressing questions, like: “Why is the Predator in L.A.?” and “Wait, but why is the Predator in L.A.??” From script to screen, it's a gigantic, sweaty mess that seems more interested in ripping off every other '80s action franchise than in making an actual sequel to Predator.Check out David Jones on 107.9 WSRZ on iHeartRadio2025 ‘2 Sequels & A Lie' Final ScoreboardJUSTIN: 1STEVE: 0ROLLIE WILLIAMS : 0 2025 Participation Award DAVID DODDSERIES WINNERS 2024 CAMPION - STEVE (1-0)2025 CHAMPION - JUSTIN (0-1)ALL TIME STATSJUSTIN: 1STEVE: 1ROLLIE: 0SEQUEL SUMMER WILL RETURNFollow us on Instagram to stay updated about our monthly live shows!Check out more from Justin here: justindodd.rocks Check out more from Steve here: stevejhward.comdrinkgenies.com
Matt and Eric swelter in the heat wave of PREDATOR 2, a crazed, compelling sequel that expands both the lore and the size of characters' pants. It's an incredible who's who of '80s action movie faces and impressive early feature for Stephen Hopkins.
We are the Predators, and we're hunting for meaning beyond "wow that's racist" in the critically panned sequel, Predator 2 (1990). We speculate who the Predator is an analog for, how the director's background may have influenced the uh.... portrayal of certain characters, and we also suggest that the writers - Jim and John Thomas - maybe knew about the CIA's involvement in the distribution of crack in L.A. Shawn and Paul are back to continue our discussion of the best of 1990s action films. This time the guys discuss Predator and Predator 2. One is a true classic, the other is a strange oddball 90s action flick, full of contradictory ideas but which is ultimately kind of fascinating. Join the guys as they try to untangle all the threads on these wild and often awesome films.

Its that magical time of year, when all the games are announced, and the big 3 come together! I'm talking about, wait, no, E3 is gone, but its spirit lives on, in this disjointed days of virtual press conferences. Xbox had their Games Showcase and didn't show any of the tentpoles, Summer Games Fest knocked it out of the park with Resident Evil 9, and IGN Live tried to fill in some gaps. Plus, The Phoenician Scheme, Predator Killer of Killers, and Ballerina from the World of John Wick all get reviewed.
There is a new Predator movie on Hulu right now. I thought it would be fun to upload the original crossover I did with Movie Dumpster for Predator 2. If you liked my other Predator episodes you'll love this one! It's a little dated because we recorded it before Prey came out but I think you'll all enjoy it.
Colion and Jake come with a double feature, Prey and Predator 2 and how they tie together. Also we pitch a Hobbs and Shaw crossover and try to get to the bottom of why Jake hates Tyrese.

We are joined by the incredible Alex of AMPFX studios this week. Which actually turned out to be a godsend as he was the only thing keeping me and Marc from a full scale argument over the movie. Not to mention loads of productions facts interactive involvement from our listeners including some voicemails and a performance on "Broken Sprit 2.0" that will be talked about for a very long time. Predator 2 is an ambitious but messy sequel. It deserves credit for not simply rehashing the original and for daring to expand the mythos. But its execution feels scattered, and it lacks the tight pacing and focus that made its predecessor a classic. Worth watching for fans of the franchise or sci-fi horror, but temper your expectations.

Silent. Invisible. Invincible. The ultimate hunter. Directed by Stephen Hopkins, Predator 2 is the science fiction action film starring Danny Glover. It is the second installment of the Predator franchise and the sequel to 1987's Predator, with Kevin Peter Hall reprising the title role of the Predator. In line with its upcoming 35th anniversary, Luke and [co-host] go back and review this moderate box office hit. Los Angeles is enduring a heat wave and a crime wave, so the pressure on police officer Michael Harrigan (Danny Glover) to solve a strange string of murders is mounting. Harrigan thinks the culprit can be found among the warring gangs and drug cartels, but FBI Special Agent Peter Keyes (Gary Busey) knows the horrible truth: Their killer is a fearsome extraterrestrial (Kevin Peter Hall) with keen hunting abilities that include superior night vision and the power to make itself invisible.
