In today's Daily Fix:Microsoft is saying the controversial price of the ROG Xbox Ally X wasn't set by them, but rather hardware maker ASUS. The Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X are $599 and $999 respectively, and feature Xbox-themed UI and connect to the users' Xbox accounts, but are technically ASUS products under the ROG brand. Despite the price, Microsoft claims the devices have sold out on the Xbox store and other retailers, and the critical response has been overall positive, despite the steep price. In other news, Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3's co-director is saying that the game's combat system is not yet decided, despite calls for the series to return to turn-based roots. This comes after the surprise success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which features many game mechanics popularized by JRPGs like classic FF titles. And finally, a leak about more Resident Evil remakes may prove to be real, with reports saying Resident Evil 0 and Code Veronica are next on Capcom's to-do list.

Episode #574: It's been a massive week for Xbox fans — between the launch of the ROG Ally X handheld PC and the surge of Battlefield 6 reviews, everyone's asking the same question: what's hype and what's actually real? In this episode, we break down how the Ally X is reshaping portable Xbox gaming, where it outperforms expectations, and where it still struggles to feel truly “console-like.” From frame rates to comfort to compatibility, we put it all in perspective for gamers wondering if it's worth the upgrade. On the other side of the battlefield (literally), Battlefield 6 has finally landed — and it's off to a hot start with over 6 million copies sold, a big chunk of them on Xbox. But does it live up to the franchise's promise? We dive into early player reactions, critical reviews, and the real-world gameplay experience to find out if DICE finally nailed the formula or just repackaged nostalgia under a shinier engine.Who are the XoneBros? We are your exclusive Xbox Series X & Game Pass weekly podcast. Is the Rog Xbox Ally worth its MASSIVE price tag? After a few weeks playing with a Rog Xbox Ally, what does Alex think of the handheld Xbox? For the sake of clarity, this is a review of the weaker, white Rog Xbox Ally, and not the more powerful, black Rog Xbox Ally X. The Ally retails for £499.99 in the UK ($599.99 in the US), a whole £300 ($400) cheaper than the Ally X, for which you get a weaker CPU and GPU, 16GB RAM instead of 24GB RAM, and 512GB storage compared to 1TB. They represent a collaboration with Xbox and ASUS, rebranding ASUS's existing ROG Ally duo with the Xbox stamp of approval. But is it worth that huge price tag? Alexboxbeck tells Rog Leane all about it in this week's podcast! Learn more about your ad choices.
What the cheese?
One Battle After Another, is what I should rename this podcast, because the movie was that good, and a full review is inside. Plus Xbox takes another self imposed L, Sony gives itself a gold medal, and EA goes private. The Simpsons are headed back to the big screen, and an AI "actress" has Hollywood in a fervor. Plus Forza Horizon is finally headed to the land of the Rising Sun, and Ubisoft gives Assassin's Creed a new home.

It's a small miracle that a bunch of us managed to get our heads out of Mario Kart World long enough to make a show about the Switch 2. But that's what we did! First, we chat with The Verge's Andrew Webster about his review, and why it feels like the Switch 2 is both everything we wanted and somehow still a little underwhelming. (Or at least just... whelming.) After that, The Verge's Ash Parrish tells us about her adventures traveling with the Switch 2, plus her recent time with the new Asus ROG Xbox Ally, and what she's learning about the future of consoles. Finally, The Verge's Sean Hollister helps us answer a question from the Vergecast Hotline all about console prices: why they keep going up, and whether they'll continue to be worth it.
