When we are adults, we make the conscious decision to emigrate. But what happens when we are parents, and we take our children with us?Our guest Claudia Lopez emigrated to the UK from Colombia when she was only 11 years old. She was able to experience firsthand the challenges that children have to overcome when migrating. Today, we will have the opportunity to listen to the point of view of what a child lives in these circumstances, dealing with not only the language barrier but with the new world to which they have to adapt. There are millions of people calling the country to which they migrated home. So, talking about diversity has become the norm. One day before the end of Hispanic Heritage Month, I want to dedicate this episode to all Hispanics who decided to live the experience of being an immigrant and make their culture known. Thank you for enriching the cultures of each country with yours!EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS.[4:29] Meeting today's guest.Proudly Latina. Claudia was born in Colombia and moved to the UK. Some kids don't feel they belong to the land they live cause inside their homes, living with their immigrants parents is like living in a completely different world. [15:26] How to help children to fit in this new stage of life?Communicating with our children is essential in the process of adaptation. [25:30] As individuals, what can we do to improve inclusion?First is the acceptance of our origins and then the education of others about them.[29:44] Emigrating in adulthood vs. emigrating in childhood. There are different experiences.  As you know, we started this podcast to “Scale up our knowledge, so we don't scale up our systems”. Many of you requested to have another episode about finances, and I couldn't think of a better person to have on the show than my company's CFO, Mike Iverson.  Mike is a CPA and owns Trillium Financial.  I think Mike's superpower is his ability to take a very complex subject, such as ‘how much money I need to retire, and he can explain that to anyone in a language that they understand. He effortlessly gives people the tools and handles they need to be able to run their personal and business finances. The biggest gift Mike has given me over the years is the gift of clarity. He can look at spreadsheets and glean so much wisdom from the numbers, and then he teaches me what he sees. Because of his knowledge and expertise, I can make wise business moves.  Today he is going to touch on so many topics that will help all of us scale up our knowledge, but all of them have one thing in common: finance. Bottom line: If you make money and want to know the best things you can do for your future with your money, Mike Iverson has the perfect financial plan for you. What has your spiritual awakening been like for you? Spiritual awakening is different for everyone and there are levels of intensity. There is a darker side to it, too. And sometimes, it can be messy. Join me as I talk about what this journey and process of spiritual awakening could be like and help you get to an understanding of what it means to you. In this episode you will learn: What is spiritual awakening? Why do some of us get into a slump as we go through the process of spiritual awakening? Why are some of us so driven to find the truth of existence? 3 Key Takeaways: Spiritual awakening is basically about having a new level of awareness and understanding about who you are, about purpose, about a connection to God, about existence, about things that can bring us a lot of joy and love. While you may have these moments in the process of spiritual awakening where you lose clarity, where you are assimilating some new information and may get off-kilter, it’s okay. If we are really understanding who we are, our power and our God connection, that should be a joyful moment and there should be more ease coming into life. Action Steps: Do things in spirit. If you find yourself in a worse state as a result of truth-seeking, reconsider that and think, “If I were really lining up with the truth of who I am, wouldn’t that mean that life got easier and better?” Quotes: “Always at my root, always at my foundation is my love for people, is my love for life, is my love for myself.” “Spiritual awakenings are, in my opinion, a messy, messy work.” You might have noticed that there’s a been a temporary shift in the release of podcast episodes.
