It's all the twos on episode two two two, as two of us chat about… uh… two times two (four) big topics. The chaps talk about football (!!!) and why it's so neat to go to events you might not normally attend. Back in much more familiar territory, we bring you a battle report from Salute 52; a miniatures wargames event run by South London Warlords. If that weren't more than enough, then we're also talking about the wonderfully wordy Landmarks by Floodgate Games, that combines vocab with map exploration to great effect (and may well lead to heated arguments between you and your friends, honestly). Plus Enigma Quest's Escape Arcade is like a modern Crystal Maze you can explore (and hopefully escape). All that, and probably some more twos we haven't thought of, on Ep222. 00:00 - Becoming a wine snob 06:42 - Football: it's good, actually 14:52 - Landmarks 31:34 - Salute 52 46:01 - Escape Arcade On this episode were Peter (@XeroXeroXero) and Sam (@MrSamTurner). Our Spotify Playlist brings together lots of great thematic music inspired by the stuff we talk about. Links to where you can find us - StayingInPodcast.com Note: sometimes we'll have been sent a review copy of the thing we're talking about on the podcast. It doesn't skew how we think about that thing, and we don't receive compensation for anything we discuss, but we thought you might like to know this is the case.

This week's episode of the Empire Podcast is brought to you by the letter E, as Cynthia Erivo and Luke Evans join Chris Hewitt to talk about their new projects. First up, Erivo talks about her astonishing performance in Drift, which she also produced, and in particular one harrowing scene, and its impact upon her. It's an incredibly intense and honest interview and it can be found from 24:11 - 38:18 (approx). Then Evans returns to the pod after a long absence to talk about his role in Our Son, in which he plays a gay man going through a painful divorce, and playing The Crystal Maze with Daniel Levy. That's from 59:17 - 1:16:28 (again, approx.). Either side of those, Chris is joined in the podbooth by Helen O'Hara and James Dyer for an episode in which they tackle a vaguely-Easter-themed Mount Rushmore question, discuss the storm over Late Night With The Devil's brief use of A.I.-generated art, talk over the week's movie news, and review Kung Fu Panda 4, Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Our Son, Mothers' Instinct, and Drift. Enjoy.

This bonus episode sees HJDoom tackle the gamebook adaptation of the enormously popular and enormously difficult 90s TV game show The Crystal Maze in which teams of players do fiendishly difficult tasks at the behest of a bald musical theatre legend and get the slender chance to win a cheese platter in the titular maze. It's a cult classic but will it transfer to the gamebook format? With Dave Morris and Jamie Thompson at the helm there's a fair chance it will. This episode is made possible by the generosity of my patrons at www.patreon.com/hjdoom. As well as supporting bonus content all patrons sent a whole bevvy of gaming materials and access to my patreon blog where I'm currently writing a development diary as I write a new gamebook.

The entire 38th floor of the City's ‘Cheesegrater' skyscraper is set to be turned into an escape room game for stressed office workers to blow off steam. The building's owner, CC Land, says the idea is for co-workers to better collaborate and “have fun” together as they compete to win Crystal Maze-style tasks. Meanwhile at 22 Bishopsgate, the Square Mile's newest tower, bosses are offering “puppy yoga” - stretches plus dog cuddles - to try and boost colleagues' serotonin between IRL meetings and crunching spreadsheets. They are among strategies to try and tempt working-from-home staff back to the Covid-era physical office. That's on top of street food stalls, ice cream deliveries, craft classes and massages in what's the Times reports is the “hotelification” of workplaces, or “office 2.0”.It's no longer tech giants bringing high-end freebies to blur the lines between nine to five - now, many of traditional City firms are spending big on renting space with wellbeing extras. But does these techniques actually improve productivity or job satisfaction, and does anyone really want boss-approved good times in a “vertical village”?To find out more about stress-busting ideas being designed into offices of the near future, The Leader's joined by workplace wellbeing consultant Emma James, chief operating officer at Kamwell, an employee wellbeing company. Lewis and Megan grew up in Birmingham in a busy household, where both parents worked shifts and it is fair to say the “ chalk and cheese” duo took a while to form a close relationship. Lewis went to Oxford to university leaving Megan at home to support their mum though some mental health difficulties, which was "tough". In this episode we talk about that and about ace grandads, being a podgy kid, your mates thinking your mum is fit, The Crystal Maze as well as taking advantage of your sibling and learning to depend on them, too.Our sponsor for this third season of Relatively is Findmypast, the exclusive online home of the 1921 Census. Well it's fair to say if this month's games was a zone in The Crystal Maze the sharks wouldn't have walked away with as many crystals as this month did not see our finest hour to put it bluntly and in Cuda Corner things did not get any better either as whilst they had a lot of high shot counts not a lot of them went into the back of the net Over on the WestWatch St.Louis Blues mascot Louie gatecrashes as we relive the fun and excitment from this year's Winter Classic, Calgary's arena situation also provides the talking point and our running gag with the Edmonton Oilers is finally over thanks to a terrible interview with one of its star players If you would like to get in touch then do email us your thoughts at tealreportpodcast@gmail.com and we might read out your messages in a future edition of our show

We're joined in this episode by Nathan Angus, MD of Wildfire Agency in Sheffield, UK. Nathan delivers a vast and varied array of experiences and activities for events; from props to hovercrafts and The Crystal Maze. At the ripe old age of 11, Nathan ventured into his field of expertise when he helped out a family friend who supplied squad bikes for kid's parties (although, in reality, he mostly found himself feeding or plucking turkeys). When Nathan was 14, his dad bought the business and, a few years later, Nathan joined then him, becoming MD six years ago. Asked to name his favourite event, Nathan struggles because he has worked in so many beautiful venues and locations delivering so many different experiences, but there is one annual event for his local children's hospital that wins the prize for the feel good factor - despite the cold and wet conditions. Wildfire Events delivered their first virtual event just days before lockdown hit in 2020, resulting in many valuable collaboration opportunities over the coming months and bringing the events community together. Recognising the industry as one of the greatest in the world, he firmly believes in Sinatra, red wine and trusting one's gut. George might be a little.... blood-lossy, but he's still going to try and run Ailsa through a Quiz segment. We are talking about the choose-your-own-adventure style adventure gamebooks that so many of us grew up with - whether it was Fighting Fantasy books or more Famous Five. It seems everything had game books made of it in the 80s and 90s... or did it? With our true or false quiz we're going to see if we can spot the accurate adventures from the lying librums - will you be able to keep up with Ailsa? There's also a visit from the Mailer Daemon who brings us another Ask A GM message scroll. This time our anonymous contributor is unhappy about a player who always picks the same type of character, no matter the game - for example they always play an Elf Ranger, or always choose a Dwarf Fighter etc. How should a GM cope with someone who turns up with Thognar the Barbarian XIII for their next Blue Rose campaign? Is it even really a problem?Mixed in with all this is controversial discussion on the best Crystal Maze host, a comparison between role-playing games and Derry Girls, a contractual update from Mrs Shawney, some more inspiration for Frank and Bunty of Shoved Granny Games, and a sponsored segment with one of our cast trying to branch out with their own show. A short hiatus may follow, but we'll be back as soon as George heals up!Contact us by email on tildicepodcast@gmail.comWe can be found on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram under @tildicepodcastOur theme music is Funny Adventures by WinnieTheMoogLink: https://filmmusic.io/song/6048-funny-adventuresLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/Additional music is Acid Trumpet by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://filmmusic.io/song/3340-acid-trumpetLicense: https://filmmusic.io/standard-licenseOur logo is by Neil Slorance - check out his work on Twitter under @neilslorance or Facebook as "Art by Neil Slorance"Support the show (https://ko-fi.com/tildicepodcast)Support the Show.

In the twenty second episode of season three of the Her Spirit podcast BBC Breakfast Louise Minchin and BBC Triathlon presenter Annie Emmerson talk to five-time Paralympic Champion, and one of Britain's best-known para-athletes Hannah Cockcroft MBE.Hannah suffered two heart attacks within the first 24 hours of her life. These cardiac arrests left her with multiple areas of brain damage and a collapsed lung, with doctors questioning how the damage would affect her quality of life.Yet, the problematic birth only helped in making Hannah a determined child. Raised alongside her brothers, Joshua and Daniel, she was never treated any differently to her able-bodied siblings. Hannah's parents, Graham and Rachel, took every opportunity they could to get Hannah up onto her feet, strapping her into Kay-walkers, splints, twisters and standing frames. Hannah was first introduced to para-sport at 12 years old, when the Cardinals wheelchair basketball team performed a demonstration at her secondary school. From this moment, she was hooked. At the 2007 School Games, run by the Youth Sports Trust, Hannah first witnessed wheelchair racing, whilst she competed for Yorkshire as a seated discus athlete. Invited to try out racing later that year at a British Athletics talent ID day, Dr Ian Thompson, husband of Baroness Tanni Grey-Thompson, put her in her first racing wheelchair and ran her through her first laps of the athletics track. Hannah made her senior debut for Great Britain at 18 years old, representing her country at the World Championships in New Zealand in January 2011. Despite having only been competing for three years, Hannah became double World Champion, in the T34 100m and 200m.The following summer, the world saw Hannah Cockroft line up at her debut Paralympics, the London 2012 Games. Cockroft took the world stage by storm, racing to victory over the T34 100m and 200m once again and setting two Paralympic Records in the process. Having become double Paralympic Champion on the home stage she was dubbed ‘Hurricane Hannah' by the British media. An MBE followed in the 2013 New Years' Honours.Since then, Hannah's lists of achievements have continued to grow. Hannah is the most decorated British athlete in World Championship history, with 12 World Champion titles to her name. She repeated her Paralympic success at Rio 2016, bringing home gold in the T34 100m, 400m and 800m, that same year adding three European Champion gold medals to her trophy cabinet. Hannah is currently the T34 World Record holder in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1500m.Off the track, Hannah's personality has seen her invited onto shows such as ‘The Great British Bake Off', ‘The Crystal Maze' and ‘Strictly Come Dancing', which she won with her partner on the show, Pasha. Hannah is also an ambassador for Run For All https://www.runforall.com.Her Spirit http://www.herspirit.co.uk supports women of all shapes to sizes to achieve goals you never thought possible and have your #BestYearYet. In this episode you'll hear our very first episode with a married couple, Richard and Lydia Ayoade (Lydia is also known as Lydia Fox). Richard will be familiar to many of you as an actor, director, writer and comedian, known for his role in The IT Crowd, directing films ‘Submarine' and ‘The Double', presenting Gadget Man, Travel Man and The Crystal Maze as well as numerous comedy panel shows. Richard is married to Lydia who has worked as an actress, and is the daughter of actor James Fox and has two acting brothers, Lawrence and Jack. We spoke why it's hard to depict faith on film, if we can ever know what we hold sacred and why we shouldn't want to know personal details about celebrities.
In this Minisode, we discuss game genres and classifications! How do you know what you're getting, and how do you choose? Highlights include: - I finally won something on Arkham Horror The Card Game - Mark confuses Guatemala with Guantanamo Bay - Board Games? Crystal Maze? Same thing innit - Knowing things is a skill - Coming soon to a games shop near you - Horror of the Whatevers - I use a horrendous baby metaphor - I almost forget to say the motto
Monday seems a very long time ago now. Nintendo Switch had a different name, we were only guessing that Red Dead 2 existed, and IGN LA's Terri Schwartz chose to spend some of her holidays in our office for no discernible reason and we wanted to record a podcast with her. Basically, all of this is an excuse for why this four day-old episode seems very out-of-date. Forget all that brand new stuff, let's talk about The Crystal Maze and Miles Teller's gusset, then play Keyword Countdown. Oh, and one of you makes us look really clever with your feedback - thanks for that.
Episode 34 of The All Seeing Guys, we are too wasted which always makes for good fun, we share a sneak preview of our upcoming Detective radio play 'Ritz Cricker & Ritz Disturbance in.... yet to be titled' , and we ask the big questions such as what if Danny Dyer, Jeremy Irons or Patrick Stewart hosted robot wars? what if serial killer Jeffery Dahmer hosted Crystal Maze? would you reach climax through f@cking a McChicken Sandwich? & we read out YOUR answers to the big question 'Who is your celebrity drinking crew?'! Along with a few choice segments & much more!
The IGN UK Podcast remembers and celebrates the greatest quiz show involving small rooms, jumpsuits, and tinfoil money ever made.
Mark and Martyn celebrate the landmark 25th episode of the podcast that watches kids TV from the 80s by watching a show that's a) not from the 80s and b) not for kids. Adults in tracksuits play games for crystals in order to gain time to grab shiny pieces of paper in a claustrophobic vertical wind tunnel. Still, at least there's no Ed Tudor-Pole in this one.Questions, comments or recommendations for future episodes? We really are spoiling you with our pod-guests these days. Hot-on-the-heels of Ex Machina's Alex Garland and Evolve's Phil Robb, we've now got games journalist-turned-screenwriter Gary Whitta joining Chris and Gav for an epic cast. Whitta started out in the games industry in the late 1980s before making the transition to film via The Book of Eli and Another Earth. For the last year he's been busy working in a galaxy far, far away, writing the first standalone movie in the new Star Wars cycle, which will be directed by Gareth ‘Godzilla' Edwards and hitting screens December 2016. Gary doesn't reveal much about the movie – bound as he is by the mother of all non-disclosure agreements – but he does talk about his love of The Empire Strikes Back, how the original trilogy inspired his generation of writers and filmmakers, and what working on this new movie has been like as a creative experience. Oh, and his failure in a Star Wars quiz many moons ago also gets a (somewhat unfair) mention. If that weren't enough, Gary offers his advice to aspiring screenwriters, talks about games as an art-form in the 21st Century, explains where's he's at with his adaptation of Mark Millar comic Starlight, tells an AMAZING story aboutFrank Darabont, and gives us the skinny on his forthcoming novel Abomination, which is available via pre-sale this Monday, February 9. Braking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul hits Netflix this week so the boys discuss their hopes and fears for the show, while the conversation about potential TV reboots rumbles on, with Star Trek, The Crystal Maze and Green Wing all getting a mention in reader feedback. Out this week includes games Gunman Clive 2, Game of Thrones Episode 2 and Evolve, while the big movie releases are Selma, Shaun the Sheep and Jupiter Ascending.
