Embark on this year-long voyage through the Bible, and let each day's passage uplift and inspire you. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome, dear ones, to the Daily Radio Bible. Today is December 21st, and we are on day 356 of our journey through the scriptures. I'm your host, Hunter, your brother and Bible reading coach, here to accompany you through the pages of the Bible. As we approach the end of the year, we aim not just for understanding but for the transformation that comes through the God revealed fully in the face of Jesus. Today's readings take us through John chapters 9 to 11, where we encounter powerful stories—Jesus healing a man born blind, likening himself to the Good Shepherd, and raising Lazarus from the dead. We explore the themes of divine healing, faith, and the barriers we must overcome to walk in the resurrection life that Jesus offers us. As always, we'll close with prayers for strength, peace, and a reminder of God's unending love. So, join me as we delve into the richness of God's word together. Let's get started. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Roll the stone aside, Jesus told them. That stone was the barrier between the grave and life, between the living and the dead. And that stone is an important symbol in this story. For we all have a stone that god is wanting to move away in our lives. What's yours? What's standing between you and life? Lazarus came to life when Jesus spoke his name inside that grave, but the stone still had to be moved away. There was still a barrier, still something that stood in between him and the life that waited and the love of those who stood on the other side. Trapped alive in a tomb is no life at all, and yet this is what many Christians experience in their lives. That stone must be rolled away. And at Jesus' command, indeed it was. And now a man once dead is alive. Now there's nothing in the way. Now he is truly alive. And there is no life like resurrection life. I'm sure for Lazarus, life after the grave was sweet indeed. What stone needs to be removed in your life? What's still standing in the way, inhibiting you from experiencing all that God has for you? Don't ignore. Don't shut your ears to his command To come forth. He's done everything that's necessary for you to walk forward in life. The stone has been rolled away. He has raised you from the grave. Now is your time to begin to learn to walk in resurrection life. So come forth. Come forth today. Take that step. Move forward in faith, trusting that God is indeed The God of the resurrection. The God who raises us from the dead. He has removed all that needs to be moved. And he stands on the other side. Ready to embrace you, to walk with you into your new life. Hallelujah. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen. Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen. And now Lord, make me an instrument of your peace. Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon. Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope. Where there is darkness, light. And where there is sadness, Joy. Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love. For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life. Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ. Amen. This evening we find the details of Israel's passage through the Jordan. The gathering of stones for a monument, the taking of those stones home, and the placing of those stones in Gilgal serves as a glorious steadfast and truly material memorial of God's grace and promises kept to his people, the saints of god should erect monuments to the Lord as an act of recognizing his never failing mercy and perpetual long suffering to bring us into a good land, just as he has promised. May we raise to God this day memorials in response to his covenant faithfulness to us.

What happened at Gilgal? God did it again. He delivered His people into His promises and fulfillment by rolling away the reproach of Egypt.Show Notes:• Moses has died and Joshua is now the leader. The sons of those who died in the wilderness were preparing to go in to possess the promise land.• Passover was celebrated at Gilgal. It was a repeat of the Passover in Egypt. They passed over on dry land.• The Passover at Gilgal was the rolling away the reproach of Egypt. God established a pattern of Passover.• The Captain of the Lord of Host revealed Himself to Joshua as leader and lead the Israelites into the promise land.• Passover is all about the delivery of God's nature and His plan for us is to be His worshippers.References:Joshua 3:1-9The Parting of the Jordan River.Joshua 5:1-9Israel Is Circumcised and crosses the Jordan.Joshua 5:13-15Joshua and the Angel of the Lord of Host.Romans 2:25-29Circumcision of our heart.Luke 22:1-8Passover at Christ's Crucifixion.Quotes:• The principles from the stories we have heard many times are the same today as they were then.• Paul said neither circumcision nor uncircumcision matters. Why? Because we have entered into the realm of spirit.Takeaways:Joshua asked the Lord of Host, "Are you for us or for our adversaries?" He said, "No, rather I indeed come now as captain of the host of the Lord."It was the act of obedience to circumcision that rolled away the reproach of Egypt. The age we live in, it is God circumcising your heart, cutting away the old.
Rev. Margaret Ernst tells the Easter story from Mark through the fear and amazement of the women who find Jesus' empty tomb. What if we lived as if Jesus were alive? "What if systems of extraction and violence towards the earth and each other - including when it's done in the name of Jesus - are not the only way? What would it require of me? What if we lived as if God has rolled away the stone?" Transcript available here: https://www.showingupforracialjustice.org/the-word-is-resistance.html

Rolling Away the Reproach—The End of an Era Lectionary Date: March 31, 2019 [4th Sunday in Lent, Year C] Tim takes the lead this week, reflecting on the context and wordplay in Joshua 5.
Phil continued our series looking at Joshua. Joshua 5 - Rolling away the Reproach of Egypt Introduction Joshua 5 Verse 1-12 Fear on the people who dwell in the land Circumcision for the Israelites Passover celebrated Start eating from the produce of the land Circumcision and rolling away the reproach (shame) of Egypt linked. This new generation set apart afresh as Gods own people. Time for the pain, hurt and shame of the past to be dealt with. Rolling away the reproach of Egypt When the Israelites were slaves in Egypt, • for many years they were beaten down. Not only physically, but emotionally. • They were constantly told they were no good, • they couldn't do anything right, they would never measure up. • Over time, they let those words steal their sense of value and identity. • They felt inferior, insecure, like they had no self-worth. When a person is being mistreated or abused, especially for a long time; instead of recognising the other person is doing them wrong, it's easy for them to accept the blame and start thinking they deserve what's happening. Before long, they're not only ashamed of what's happening, but they start to become ashamed of who they are. That's the way the Israelites felt. That's how the enemy twists things. But after 430 years, God brought them out of the slavery, out of the abuse. Just when they were about to enter the Promised Land, God said to them, "This day I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt off of you." Reproach means shame, blame or disgrace. Notice, they couldn't go into the Promised Land with the shame, feeling unworthy, not valuable. God had to roll away the reproach. Lets look at how our enemy uses things in our lives to put reproaches on us, that to bring shame and disgrace on us condemning us. Areas where reproaches come from? • The Reproach Of Barrenness- This lie says, “You will never be fruitful or significant.” Ever been told you are useless no good for anything, you will never amount to much in life. God has plans and purpose for you (Ephesians 2 verse 10) • The Reproach Of Loneliness seeks to suffocate those who find themselves lonely in life (Isaiah 54:4). This lie says, “You will always be alone.” There is a cruel strategy of the enemy to oppress with a supernatural hopelessness that goes beyond the normal feelings associated with their situation (See also 1Timothy 5:14). • The Reproach Of Failure can settle in on those who have entered into life’s challenges only to come up feeling like losers. This lie says, “You are a loser in life.” that could be in business, a failed marriage, maybe as a parent, could be in christian work or ministry 2 Cor 12:9-10, Romans 5:3-5. • The Reproach of financial difficulties& Poverty is devastating, but the Lord promises to take it away (See Ezekiel 36:30). This lie says, “If you don’t have much, you aren’t worth much.” Lack is like a disease that brings its own emotional and spiritual poison that can infect families, nations and cultures around the world. • The Reproach Of Moral Failure can be a merciless tormentor, especially in the case of fallen leaders (Pr. 14:34, 1 Tim. 3:7). This lie says, “There is no hope for those who fail.” Once you have fallen in sexual immorality there is no way you can get back. There is no redemption for this kind of failure. ○ Even though King David fell in adultery God never removed his anointing or his kingship but restored him fully. • The reproach of the sins of the fathers – the lie says “you are just like your father or mother – like Father like son, like mother like daughter” You are unique God made you not as a clone of your parents but to be you, you have choices to make character that is different to either of your parents. • The Reproach of Church experience - I think God wants to speak about those who have been hurt in church life, maybe through controlling or manipulative leadership, maybe used and abused rather than encouraged and honoured.
(Almost 200 pictures from the past were displayed during this service) To see a history of theCrossroads we have a few youTube videos available here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UClAI_T5KgQoZbjoNpOgZecQ LOOKING BACK Looking Back at what God has done for theCrossroads since it Began in 1985 until this very Sunday. A church reaches it's prime; then either moves into a GREATER VISION ERA or the DEATH of that church begins! This church has seen some incredible things, but I believe that the BEST IS YET TO COME…we have a GREATER VISION for the future, and in order to achieve it - we must take a look back and REMEMBER what God has done. Let's Read Together… Deuteronomy 6:10-12 (NKJV) 10 “So it shall be, when the Lord your God brings you into the land of which He swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give you large and beautiful cities which you did not build, 11 houses full of all good things, which you did not fill, hewn-out wells which you did not dig, vineyards and olive trees which you did not plant—when you have eaten and are full— 12 then beware, lest you forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage. It is VITAL that we take the time to Remember What God Has Done for Us. We must then pass it this to our children and grandchildren by Instilling Faith in the Next Generation. When God brought the children of Israel over the Jordan River - they were commanded to set up a memorial with large stones to help them remember. JOSHUA 4:6-8, 24 (KJV) 6 That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones? 7 Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever. 8 And the children of Israel did so as Joshua commanded, and took up twelve stones out of the midst of Jordan, as the Lord spake unto Joshua, according to the number of the tribes of the children of Israel, and carried them over with them unto the place where they lodged, and laid them down there. 24 That all the people of the earth might know the hand of the Lord, that it is mighty: that ye might fear the Lord your God for ever. The purpose of the Memorial or Taking the time to remember was to REMEMBER what God had done, Instill faith in the Next Generation and also to Roll Away Past Defeats that they had experienced! GOD HAD GREATER THINGS intended for them…but they had to be careful to LOOK BACK and Remember what God can do! It is great to look back, we will do that, and then we will MOVE FORWARD to the GREATER THINGS God has planned for this church and community! (Media - walk through history of the church and people) I want to challenge you right now…take a second to LOOK BACK and see WHAT GOD HAS DONE in your life and let your heart fill up with gratitude and thankfulness! Let's read a few more scriptures as we close today: Joshua 13:1 (NKJV) Now Joshua was old, advanced in years. And the Lord said to him: “You are old, advanced in years, and there remains very much land yet to be possessed. Philippians 3:12 NKJV Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. KEY POINT of this MESSAGE TODAY: Our dreams must be bigger than our memories! God is not finished yet. We LOOK BACK to REMEMBER what God has done, to Instill faith in the Next Generation and see how God is Rolling Away our Past Defeats that we have experienced! GOD HAD GREATER THINGS intended for US! We have a choice today…a choice to be part of the GREATER FUTURE of this church!
