Those who have heard the preaching of the gospel and have taken the time to study it can have confidence in the knowledge of the risen Christ. He is, always was, and will be the Resurrection, and He is the prototype for all who trust Him. Just as people like the apostle Paul, Joseph of Arimathaea, and Nicodemus were changed; encountering Christ in the word too changes us. After this, Jesus, seeing that all things were now finished, that the Scripture might befulfilled, said, “I am thirsty.” Now a vessel full of vinegar was set there; so they put a spongefull of the vinegar on hyssop, and held it at his mouth. When Jesus therefore had receivedthe vinegar, he said, “It is finished.” Then he bowed his head, and gave up his spirit. Therefore the Jews, because it was the Preparation Day, so that the bodies wouldn't remainon the cross on the Sabbath (for that Sabbath was a special one), asked of Pilate that theirlegs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. Therefore the soldiers came, andbroke the legs of the first, and of the other who was crucified with him; but when they cameto Jesus, and saw that he was already dead, they didn't break his legs. However one of thesoldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. He whohas seen has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, that youmay believe. For these things happened that the Scripture might be fulfilled, “A bone ofhim will not be broken.”Again another Scripture says, “They will look on him whom theypierced.”After these things, Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear ofthe Jews, asked of Pilate that he might take away Jesus' body. Pilate gave him permission. He came therefore and took away his body. Nicodemus, who at first came to Jesus by night, also came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about a hundred Roman pounds. So theytook Jesus' body, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as the custom of the Jews is tobury. Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden. In the garden was a newtomb in which no man had ever yet been laid. Then because of the Jews' Preparation Day(for the tomb was near at hand) they laid Jesus there.

The Bible mentions a person we should take note of, yet when it mentions one several times we should pay attention. Joseph of Arimathaea is mentioned several times in the Bible. He was memorialized just as the woman that broke the alabaster box. His response. He was a secret disciple. There are many out there today that hide behind their fear. They are saved yet do not serve Jesus Christ. This man Joseph was afraid to step out to do what God called him to do. Yet, while he was unwilling to stand before stood up at the crucifixion. It changed his life to witness the crucifixion. Just as many today the death of Christ changed their lives. A Roman Centurion was also standing at the feet of Jesus while He hung on the cross. When God turned His back to Jesus and He died the Roman Centurion spoke out and stated that this man WAS the Son of God. Joseph's response caused us to see his faith. At the cross, all of the disciples fled out of fear except for John. Joseph also stayed there and was changed. His response was that he would step forward and boldly crave Jesus' body for burial. His faith went from a secret to a sure faith. Just as Zacchaeus he had to climb up a tree to grow his faith. Joseph had to see, and witness the death of Christ to grow his faith. He knew that there was something about this man named Jesus but once he witnessed it it affected his faith. Think about your own salvation. What you didn't believe before changed in a split second to a belief that you can not deny. What was your response to the cross? What is your response to Jesus Christ? Is your faith a climbing up faith just to climb down? His resolve. Not one disciple was memorialized for the burial of Jesus Christ except for Joseph. There ought to be encouragement for us through his faith. How many times have you tucked your tail in front of Jesus? There are people that won't even attend church. Joseph did all of that for a dead savior. He did all of that while Jesus was dead. He didn't know that Jesus was going to rise again. None of them understood what Jesus had told them that He would rise again. We can't even do it for a living savior. The cost he was willing to pay was extraordinary. Just going in front of Pilot and begging for the body of their “enemy” was great but he lost all social standings. He was willing to give up everything he had worked for, for a dead savior. What once brought him great wealth he gave up willingly. What keeps you from Jesus Christ? Not only did he lose his social status and his job, but he also purchased a lot of expensive items. He couldn't have done this in a split second. He didn't have time to do this overnight. He purchased fine linen just for the burial. Not only was Joseph involved but Nicodemus was there to help. How many times does it feel that you're alone with Jesus? Nicodemus showed up with a hundred pounds of ointments. Just the two of them were there to take Jesus from the cross. Can you imagine the blood that covered them as they removed Jesus' body? They were invested from head to toe. His reward. After Jesus rose from the dead He walked on the earth for 40 days. Think about this. Jesus didn't tell Joseph to do any of the things he chose to do for Jesus. Do you think Jesus was thankful? Even if Jesus didn't thank Joseph for what he did for Jesus, think about Joseph's death. When Joseph opened his eyes in Heaven at his death He would be in the presence of Jesus Christ. He would shake hands with his savior.

Happy Resurrection Sunday!   Joseph of Arimathea appears in each of the four Gospels (Matthew 27:57-61, Mark 15:42-47, Luke 23:50-54 and John 19:38-42) specifically around the time of Jesus' crucifixion and burial. These short verses in the Gospels reveal a surprising amount of information relating to Joseph of Arimathea and his characteristics which we will talk about in this episode.     55 And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him: 56 Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's children. 57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple: 58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. 59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.   42 And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath, 43 Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus. 44 And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead. 45 And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph. 46 And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre.   Thank you for listening, downloading and supporting the Speak Life Church and this podcast.        https://giv.li/p2nj61 Zelle  - pastor@SpeakLifeChurch.net https://www.patreon.com/speaklifechurchpodcast You can support the ministry by check or money order by sending it to Speak Life Church, 14713 Kent Drive, Upper Marlboro, MD 20772   Rev. You can use this space in lots of ways, including meditation, prayer, re-reading the passage or thinking about what it means for you today.Today's reflection: What has Jesus done here? How many reasons for Jesus' death have you encountered, and how are they meaningful to you?---After this, knowing that everything was now finished and done, Jesus fulfilled Scripture by saying, “I am so thirsty.” Now a jar full of sour wine was there, so they put a sponge full of the sour wine on a hyssop stalk, and brought it to his lips. When Jesus got this, he said, “It is finished!” Then he bowed his head and gave up his spirit. As it was the Preparation Day for the Sabbath, and the next day was a special Sabbath, the Jewish leaders did not want bodies remaining on crosses, so they asked Pilate to have the legs broken and the bodies taken away. So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first man and the other who was crucified with him; but when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they didn't break his legs. Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus' side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. The man who saw this has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows that he tells the truth, so that you too may believe. For these things happened to fulfil the Scripture, “No bone of his will be broken.” And as another Scripture says, “They will look on the one they have pierced.”After these things, Joseph of Arimathaea asked Pilate for permission to take away Jesus' body. Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jewish leaders. Pilate gave him permission, so he came and took the body away. Nicodemus, the one who at first came to Jesus by night, also brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes weighing a talent, about thirty kilograms. So they took Jesus' body, and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the Jewish burial custom. Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden. In the garden was a new tomb in which no-one had ever been laid. So, because it was the Jewish Preparation Day, and the tomb was near, they laid Jesus there.

John 19 1 Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him. 2 And the soldiers platted a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe, 3 And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands. 4 Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him. 5 Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man! 6 When the chief priests therefore and officers saw him, they cried out, saying, Crucify him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Take ye him, and crucify him: for I find no fault in him. 7 The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by our law he ought to die, because he made himself the Son of God. 8 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he was the more afraid; 9 And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer. 10 Then saith Pilate unto him, Speakest thou not unto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify thee, and have power to release thee? 11 Jesus answered, Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me unto thee hath the greater sin. 12 And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar's friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar. 13 When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down in the judgment seat in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha. 14 And it was the preparation of the passover, and about the sixth hour: and he saith unto the Jews, Behold your King! 15 But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar. 16 Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away. 17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: 18 Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst. 19 And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was Jesus Of Nazareth The King Of The Jews. 20 This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin. 21 Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews. 22 Pilate answered, What I have written I have written. 23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout. 24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did. 25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. 26 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! 27 Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home. 28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. 29 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. 30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost. 31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. 32 Then came the soldiers, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other which was crucified with him. 33 But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: 34 But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. 35 And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe. 36 For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. 37 And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced. 38 And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus. 39 And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight. 40 Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. 41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. 42 There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.

27:55 And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus from Galilee, ministering unto him: 27:56 Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedees children. 27:57 When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple: 27:58 He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. 27:59 And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 27:60 And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed. 27:61 And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre. 27:62 Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate, 27:63 Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. 27:64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first. 27:65 Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as ye can. 27:66 So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting a watch.

When you put a spotlight on the Gospels, you’ll find that it was the Pharisees, the scribes and Sadducees who were partial in both their transmission and adherence to the scriptures. It is because the even was come, on the preparation day, the Sabbath was drawing nigh, that Joseph of Arimathaea went in boldly unto Pilate. He was compelled because the Sabbath drew nigh, regardless of his job, regardless of being defiled for Passover, regardless of Pilates power, and his own emotions, to secure Yeshua’s body and bury him before the Sabbath. If we are to enter into the Kingdom of YeHoVaH, our righteousness must exceed that of the scribes and Pharisees.

All food/work/chores should be preparedon the day prior to the Shabbat which is known as preperation day.)We see that the Day YAHUSHA our MessiYAH died for us, it was the preperation day, just before the Sabbath as written in Mark 15:42 And now when evening was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the Shabbath...Yoceph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the Kingdom of YAHUAH, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of YAHUSHA.And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead. And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Yoceph. And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre. And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was laid.(Again YAHUSHA died on the Preperation Day just before the HIGH HOLY Shabbat Day. The Feast of Unleavened Bread.)Today Believers in YAHUSHA HA'MASCHIACH are grafted into YASHARA'ELand are thereby apart of the New Covenant through the Blood of YAHUSHAHA'MASCHIACH that was shed for the remission of our sins. Thereby making us Sons of ELOHIYM, born not of flesh and blood, natural descent or a husbands will but born of ELOHIYM. In Matthew 12 we see HIM as Master of Shabbat. (Read few verses of Matthew 12)YAHUSHA is also considered to be the LivingTORAH of YAHUAH ELOHIYM. HalleluYAH. John 1:14 And the WORD was made flesh and tabernacled among us (and we beheld HIS glory, the glory as of the yachiydof the FATHER,) full of grace and truth.YAHUSHA kept Shabbat...Luke 13:10 And HE was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. The women who followed YAHUSHA kept Sabbath also...Luke 23:56 And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the Sabbath day according to the Commandment.Acts 15:21 For Moses of old time hath in every city them that preach him, being read in the Synagogues every Sabbath day.((Shabbat will also be observed in The Kingdom. )) See Hebrews 4Hebrews 4:4 For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And ELOHIYM did rest the seventh day from all HIS works.=====================================================Let's take a look at a few Old Covenant/Testament Scriptures...Here we observe they were warned to not defile YAHUAHS Sabbaths...and shouldthey comply blessings were instore however if they did not...curses would come upon themand we know that Yerushalayim/YASHARA'EL were sent into captivity for not heeding ABBAYAHUAHS Warnings.Nehemiah 13:19 And it came to pass, that when the gates of Yerushalayim began to be dark before the Sabbath, I commanded that the gates should be shut, and charged that they should not be opened till after the Sabbath: and some of my servants set I at the gates, that there should no burden be brought in on the Sabbath Day.Jeremiah 17:21-27 King James Version (KJV)Thus saith YAHUAH; Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the Sabbath Day, nor bring it in by the gates of Yerushalayim;Neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the Sabbath Day, neither do ye any work, but hallow ye the Sabbath Day, as I commanded your fathers. But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction. And it shall come to pass, if ye diligently hearken unto me, saith YAHUAH, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the Sabbath day, but hallow the Sabbath day, to do no work therein; Then shall there enter into the gates of this city kings and princes sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they, and their princes, the men of YAHUDAH, and the inhabitants of YERUSHALAYIM: and this city shall remain for ever. And they shall come from the cities of YAHUDAH, and from the places about YERUSHALAYIM, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plain, and from the mountains, and from the south, bringing burnt offerings, and sacrifices, and meat offerings, and incense, and bringing sacrifices of praise, unto the house YAHUAH.But if ye will not hearken unto me to hallow the Sabbath Day, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of YERUSHALAYIMon the Sabbath Day; then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of YERUSHALAYIM, and it shall not be quenched.Beloved's just like in YASHARA'EL'S time when Moshe and the other prophets read the Command of YAHUAH to them and they were to obey...it's the same way we are called to obey ABBA YAHS commandstoday and HIS command instructs us to "Remember HIS Shabbat Day to Keep it Holy/Set Apart and not to work in it as it is a sign between HIM and YASHARA'EL"It's my sincere prayer that if you attend a Sabbath keeping Assembly/Church however youfind yourself breaking Shabbats or any of the other commandments, you can repent today and ask the MOST HIGH YAH for forgivenessand get back to being TORAH observant and following YAHUSHA HA'MASCHIACH. For HE says in HIS WORD, "If My people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sins and heal their land."He also says in 1 John 1:9 "If we confess our sins HE is faithful and just to forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness."HalleluYAH...HalleluYAH.And if you are attending Church on Sunday and calls Sunday the Shabbat of our Heavenly FATHER...know Sunday is the 1st Day of the Week and the Shabbat of YAHUAH our ELOHIYM is on the 7th Dayand there is no work involved whatsover...(no grocery shopping...no errands running...a Day of sweet repose and rest.Proverbs 28:9 He that turneth away his ear from hearing the TORAH, even his prayers are an abomination.

Though little is know about Joseph of Arimathaea, he craved the body of Jesus in his inactive state. He cares for the body because he knew what it was capable of. In a figurative sense the church is the body of Christ. It needs some disciples that will crave and care for it in its less active states. We do this knowing that the body of Christ can't remain dead, immobile, and inactive. It will live!

The Cross Throughout the Scriptures - Part 12 14. Psalm 2 Takes Us to Calvary. He opened their minds so that they might understand the Scriptures, how that what was written of Him in the law, the Psalms, and the Prophets must be fulfilled, Luke 24:44-45. Act 13:33 that God has fulfilled this {promise} to our children in that He raised up Jesus, as it is also written in the second Psalm, “Thou art My Son; today I have begotten Thee.” Centuries later their cry would be, “Crucify Him, crucify Him” and “Let his blood be upon us and upon our children,” nashquw = to kiss, to touch gently, to fasten up together, to be equipped together. 1Pe 1:8 and though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with a happiness inexpressible and full of glory, The kiss of pardon and reconciliation offered to all men through the Cross gave the early Christians the ability to turn despair into joy. - ASV, KJV, NIV, NKJ - Psa 2:12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, Psa 2:12 kiss His feet, lest He be angry (RSV) Psa 2:12 Fall down before His Son and kiss His feet (TLB) The Cross is not only the fountainhead of forgiveness, peace, reconciliation, and eternal life, but also of judgment and eternal loss. Isa 5:4 “What more was there to do for My vineyard that I have not done for it?” 15. Isaiah 53. “He will be high” high = Gabah = being seated in heavenly places. lifted up - nasah = He will receive a lifting up - the ascension into heaven. greatly exalted - ruwm = to rise up = the resurrection, the first stage of glory for the humanity of Christ. marred = mishchath = to be completely disfigured. “He will sprinkle many nations” = unlimited atonement, Christ dying for the sins of the world! The first human king of Israel, Saul, came as a dazzling person; the last king of Israel, TLJC, first appeared without the associated glamour and majesty of a king. should be attracted = chamadh = to take pleasure in someone, to treasure someone, to delight in one. Joh 1:11 He came to His own, and those who were His own did not receive Him. despised = bazah = to spit out hatred. forsaken = chadel = to be rejected verbally. In His humanity He was a genius, and He was also a tender plant meaning very sensitive. sorrows = many sorrows makob = pains in the soul. grief = chouy = disease, sickness, sadness, mistreatment. “To hide the face” = sathath = to cover the face in rejection and to discredit while covering it. Esteem = chashab = to put all the facts together. griefs = choliy = disease, sickness, eternal afflictions, which we will never have in the eternal state because of Him. carried = cabal = to carry a heavy burden - the moment our sins were poured on Him and judged He died spiritually. Stricken = naga = to be struck down with sin violently. smitten = nakah = to violently strike; severely. pierced = chalal = to be stabbed. Every sin was like a point of a spear and stabbed His soul. Crushed = dakah = He was crushed by the weight of our sins. scourging = chabbuwrah = bruises, wounds, and black and blue marks. healed = rapha = to be sewn together, or drawn together because of what Christ did on the Cross. gone astray = taah = to wander, in this case the wandering of stupidity. have turned = panah = to do it from your own free will. iniquity = anon = all of our perversity, punishment, and faults fell on Him. oppressed = nagas = to be harassed and abused. afflicted = anah = to be humiliated. Luk 23:34 He uttered “Father forgive them,” under great pain He asked for forgiveness for those who were giving Him the pain. Luk 23:43 - He gives a promise to the dying thief. Joh 19:26-27 - He wanted to take care of His mother. taken = laqach = to be violently seized by the authorities.
