Join me, Kelly Brothers, for a comprehensive exploration of family legacy and construction prowess with Allison Otto, CEO of Otto Construction, a cornerstone of our regional development. Listen in as Allison unveils the storied history of her family's business, beginning with her grandfather's post-war entrepreneurial spirit, and how it has blossomed into a company that's not just constructing buildings but forging enduring community relationships. The anecdotes of growth, from the Sacramento Zoo to Fairytale Town, serve as testaments to the intertwining of familial dedication and societal contributions. We'll venture behind the scenes of the construction industry with Allison, who shares her ascent from Director of Marketing to CEO, providing an insider's view of the industry's evolution. Our dialogue highlights the hurdles and triumphs for women in this traditionally male-dominated field, emphasizing the significance of educational pathways like the construction management certificate from UC Davis. Allison's passion for her work is palpable as she details the company's involvement in landmark projects, such as Sacramento International Airport's new parking garage, reinforcing the pivotal role Otto Construction plays in shaping public spaces. We wrap the stories with a discussion on the invaluable role of trade careers and the economic tapestry they weave within our communities. For nearly 100 years, the Sacramento Zoo has operated on approximately 14 acres. As a result of improvements in animal welfare standards, many of the iconic charismatic species the zoo once displayed are no longer featured due to space. Soon after becoming CEO, Jason Jacobs began investigating what it would take to modernize the current zoo or relocate to a larger location. The analysis concluded that modernization of the existing zoo would cost about as much as the first phase of a new facility on 60 acres. A new zoo would permit the return of some iconic species and the care and display of larger populations. Jason provides insights on potential design and guest interaction concepts drawn from visiting hundreds of zoos and aquariums from around the world. Animal care Software KONG Zoo Zoo Logic
