From Amy:Welcome to my 100th Episode! Thank you for celebrating with me.When I launched this podcast as Frau Amy's World on January 1, 2019, Sarah Bamford Seidelmann was my very first guest. As the original name suggests, I was still transitioning out of my teaching career, through the life coach world, into this literary life as a writer and editor of my own unfolding design. My first true-life novel, German Awakening: Tales from an American Life, had come out in October 3, 2018. This book was much more timely than I anticipated, which made me nervous to talk much about it. As a woman who had stood on both sides of the Berlin Wall at seventeen, two years before it unexpectedly fell, and then went on to teach 20th-century German film and literature for most of my career, I saw too many themes from my book echoing out in my own native land concurrent with publication. How on earth would I talk about that? Such a unique problem for memoir writers. But / and / also universal to all human beings living on this planet together. We're longing for language to meet these times. And how did I possibly talk about this life-coaching-meets-narrative-craft world I've been shaping for myself ever since?Indirectly, via my podcast. The podcast helped me get used to the idea of talking about timely topics. I don't really shape this content. The topics present themselves to me. I read something or I cross paths with somebody. I reach out. Almost invariably they say yes. (Though I must say: ONE famous author that I admire sent me an incredibly gracious no thanks! All I could say was: SHE WROTE ME BACK! But also: I ask knowing she can say no, which likewise requires grace on my part.) I've spoken with many gracious guests, and some amazing humans have partnered with me, especially Will Quie, my first editor, and now Brooke Roy.All that collaboration requires me to know where I stand, and where others begin. Which gets to this special 100th episode: Boundaries Make Love Possible, also the title of Sarah's most recent beautiful book. And I've seen Sarah live those words. In saying yes, Sarah was my ideal first guest. Like me, she was a published author (who had graciously blurbed my front cover!) and had left an established career (in her case, as an MD) and gone through Master Coach Training. At the time—and I did look to see—Sarah was the only other Martha Beck Certified Master Life Coach in Minnesota when I graduated. (That name has since changed too. It's now Wayfinder Master Coach Training. Anyway... Sarah is a mentor, a few steps ahead of me in many ways.) The more things change, the more they stay the same, to quote a cliche. I am still a teacher. Sarah is still a healer.America is still changing fast. It's still hard to talk about it.But also... we have come a long way in those six years. As I write this, this podcast is nearing 6400 downloads.Sarah is now known as an artist, and I have always considered myself a working, real-life creative. Which is why it was such an honor to interview Sarah about her most recent workbook that combines Sarah's writing and her distinctive artwork. You really might want to read it. It's lovely and colorful, and I find myself relying on the wisdom inside and quoting sections to friends. Several of them have received Sarah's book from me for birthdays and Christmas. It really is that relevant and timely.I have a few more episodes with Sarah coming up in April to celebrate my second book's second birthday.Meanwhile, inspired by Sarah once more, I'm unveiling new show art. Enjoy! Here's to 100 episodes. And here's to 100 more.Sarah Bamford Seidelmann is a 4th generation physician, accomplished author, artist and shamanic healer. As the first teacher I was divinely guided to, a decade ago, Sarah Bamford Seidelmann M.D. saw my shamanism begin to take root from my apartment in Brooklyn that looked out to a healing tree – my nature anchor for my initiation into my true self and to communicating with Mother Earth. Sarah was instrumental in my spiritual growth spurt, and shortly after our sessions together, I was shot out of the shamanic cannon. Her great care, shamanic abilities and support, alongside Great spirit, Great Mother Earth and all my other spiritual allies, held me as I flew to the great unknown. It was wildly profound for me as we reunite and reflect on where our shamanic journeys have taken us thus far. For Sarah, that began with a radical sabbatical from her “day job” as a certified physician, traveling to India to bathe in the Ganges during the Kumbh Mela festival, and returning to The States to fully embody her calling as a shamanic mentor through formal studies and other avenues. Along the way, she's authored six books and a card deck, the latter of which we will receive a reading from today. Like myself, Sarah blends her spiritual work with conscious entrepreneurship, and we discuss how we invite abundance into our lives without attachment to profit. We also discuss the wild journey of writing books. We also dive deep into various Shamanic ceremony experiences, including Sarah sharing about her very first shamanic journey and the two animal allies who revealed to support her and she also gifts us with telling one of the most honest, hilarious and humbling ones I've ever heard. Today's episode is a celebration of two medicine women holding space for one another and celebrating the humbling, flawed, yet always beautiful and miraculous ways shamanism expresses itself and reminds us of our humanity and infinite magnificence. The Ceremonial Offering Sarah guides you on an extraordinary rainbow drumming journey where you will meet her and me in a beautiful yurt to meet your own creative spiritual ally: the key to unlocking your spiritual powers. No matter what type of fear, procrastination, or resistance gremlins enter your life, there is always one thing you can control that will stop their invasion: your energy. Will you allow these negative forces to drain and taint your energy, or will you take control of your energy and use it to learn, reflect, and move closer to your visions? Over many years, I have intermittently struggled with allowing myself to feel my happiest because of some sort of external factor that was bothering me. Sometimes this shows up in the form of depression, full-body inflammation, or a lack of self-worth and often leads to a downward spiral. Because of the negative experiences, I sometimes created imaginary limitations for myself in an attempt to establish protection from more bad experiences moving forward. I was removing parts of my life that brought me happiness and love because I was scared that something might go wrong and make me unhappy. I was settling for a middle ground of simply existing rather than experiencing. Does this seem familiar? You see, the security blanket is actually the problem in itself. We hold ourselves back from our dreams because we are afraid we will fall on our face. In other words, we aren’t allowing ourselves to reach our heightened states of mind, body, and spirit. We aren’t willing to let allow ourselves to blossom into the flowers we can be. We are sacrificing our lives to fear. So, How Good Are You Willing to Let it Get? What happens if you let love in? What happens if you say yes to everything that excites you? What happens if you trust in your intuition? What happens if you release your fears and doubts? How will things change if you surrender, let go, and become one with your passions? “it is a mess out there, but sit up tall, smile, and laugh. that’s your work.” I first heard Sarah Seidelmann talk on a podcast she did with a mentor of mine, Jared Angaza, on "the wisdom of the wild things,” and I was immediately catapulted into a stronger, happier mindset. She’s one of those rare people that can change the way you look at life in its entirety with just a few words. Sarah spent two decades practising medicine, specializing in surgical pathology, and raising her family. But something started shifting in her, drawing her into an exploration of deeper creativity, nature and intuition. She wanted to figure out what would make her FEEL GOOD all the time, and how she could apply her experiences to help others do the same. So, she took a six-month sabbatical from her job and started exploring. Well, when you follow your bliss, magical things start to happen. Sarah followed hers through shamanic journeying, animal totems, and an interesting meeting with one of her spirit guides, Alice the Elephant. To date, Sarah and Alice have co-authored multiple books, including their newest release, How Good Are You Willing to Let It Get? Daily FEELGOOD Inspiration for Creatives, Healers, and Helpers. (Secret**: She has a card deck coming soon too!) I’m ecstatic to have Sarah on this episode of Never Stop Peaking, as we explore universal synchronicity, spirit-animal guides, the magic of nature, shamanic journeying, life transportations, the creative process, and more.

Sarah Seidelmann has a special talent for taking seemingly unrelated ideas and creating something NEW. She says, “Part of being me involves having many, many interests and an EXTREME curiosity about many things.” That curiosity led Sarah to her latest work, Beasties – You’re A to Z Guide to the Illuminating Wisdom of Spirit Animals. Take a listen to this episode of Soulful Living with Teri Williams to hear new ways in embracing the message an animal's appearance in your life may have for you!
Sarah Seidelmann is a former physician who decided to "right-size" her life, devoting her career to the path of personal transformation. With Sounds True, she has published The Book of Beasties: Your A-to-Z Guide to the Illuminating Wisdom of Spirit Animals. In this episode of Insights at the Edge, Tami Simon talks with Sarah about animal spirits and totems—how they show up in our lives, the meaning they carry, and how they can reveal our true paths to us. They discuss midlife career changes and the dark night of the soul that led Sarah to embrace a different sort of calling (including a fateful encounter with a walrus). Sarah and Tami also speak on the nature of synchronicity and recognizing when signs are pointing us in a particular direction. Finally, Sarah considers how we can actively create our best possible lives. (56 minutes)
After two decades in the study and practice of medicine, Sarah Bamford Seidelmann took a three-month sabbatical to search for a way to FEEL GOOD again. Having witnessed human suffering early in her career, and within her own family, she longed for a way to address more than just the physical needs of her patients and to live in a lighter, more conscious way. Swimming with Elephants tells the eccentric, sometimes poignant, and occasionally hilarious experience of a working mother and wife undergoing a bewildering vocational shift from physician to shamanic healer. During that tumultuous period of answering her call, she met an elephant who would become an important companion on her journey, had bones thrown for her by a shaman in South Africa, danced with sacred stones, and traveled to India for an ancient Hindu pilgrimage, where she received the blessing she had been longing for. Ultimately, she discovers an entirely different kind of healing, one that enables her to help those who are suffering in the way she had always aspired to.
After two decades in the study and practice of medicine, today's special guest Sarah Seidelmann took a three-month sabbatical to search for a way to FEEL GOOD again. Sarah was a board certified Physician specializing in Surgical Pathology at a tertiary care Multispecialty group in the Midwest. While she thoroughly enjoyed her wonderful practice and partners, after 13 years, she felt a strong pull to do transformative work and to be creative again. By that time, she had four children and her life had become “complicated”. She took a 6 month sabbatical from being a doctor and found herself wandering deep into the woods. Sarah was re-awakening her own deep connection to Nature and to herself. At the end of 6 months, she determined that her path was to continue on in the field of personal transformation. Sarah completed Martha Beck's Coach Training and got certified by Martha herself, who is s a former Harvard Professor and writes the Life Coach Monthly piece for Oprah's O magazine.

Join Angela Lauria of the Author Incubator as she interviews Sarah Seidelmann, author of Born to Freak: A Salty Primer for Irrepressible Humans. Sarah originally trained as a physician, but then took a sabbatical from medicine that was originally supposed to last three months but which eventually turned in her not going back, as she decided to follow the path of shamanic healing, which is where spirits are called to help other people heal. Born to Freak is a confessional, written in a lighthearted and accessible manner. Read more and get the transcript here: Sarah Seidelmann on the Author Incubator.

The ancients knew something exciting… they tapped into a language between animals and people. They provide guidance and influence…if we make ourselves aware of their presence and message. What are the beasties showing up in your life? What do they mean?
