Sharon Lopatka's husband didn't think anything of it when she told him she was travelling out of state to visit friends. However, everything changed when he found what appeared to be a suicide note she had penned. When detectives got involved, their investigation would send them to the dark underbelly of the then-burgeoning internet.SPONSORS -BetterHelp: Give online therapy a try with 10% off and be on your way to being your best self at: https://betterhelp.com/morbidologyQuip: It's time to take control of your oral health. Up until the late 1990s, the internet was somewhat uncharted territory for many people and the landscape was very different back then. Twitter, Facebook, and even MySpace were things that had not been invented yet. Social media simply didn't exist the way that it does today and what modes of communication did exist took a small amount of technical knowledge. Private email groups and local BBS message boards were still the primary mode of communication by the time a service known as Usenet began to gain popularity. These newsgroups made it simple for the public to create an alias and post a public discussion; not unlike a primitive, stripped-down version of Reddit. And much like the early days of Reddit, topical groups available through the service ranged from the ordinary to shocking levels of depravity. There were no videos, gifs, or emojis as we see today as part of chat apps. This archaic online world was all ASCII and imagination, but for someone like Sharon Lopatka the online world was one of adventure and excitement. A world that she believed would fulfill all of her deepest desires, and one that ultimately lead her down a path of darkness. The perfect true crime case highlighting the complex and dark nature of the human psyche doesn't exi— Yes, yes it does exist, and you've just landed on it. This fascinating case centers around an individual who meticulously choreographed her own murder for the ultimate (and final) sexual experience. Sharon Lopatka was both perpetrator and victim, predator and prey. She was one of the first people to capitalize on a new information system known as the World Wide Web, and mastered how to use it for both monetary and personal gain. Sharon created multiple aliases and joined various online fetish forums to satisfy all of her incredibly unique, and dangerous, sexual needs. From her desire of being force fed and cannibalized to posing as a 300 pound disciplinarian dominatrix offering to crush men like bugs, this case is as disturbing as it is tragic. In this episode of the Crack House Chronicles Donnie and Dale get roped in on the gruesome killing of Sharon Lopatka. Sharon was an Internet entrepreneur in Hampstead, Maryland, United States, who was killed in a case of apparent consensual homicide. Lopatka was tortured and strangled to death on October 16, 1996, by Robert (Bobby) Frederick Glass, a computer analyst from North Carolina. The apparent purpose was mutual sexual gratification. The case became the earliest widely publicized example of a consensual homicide mediated through the use of the Internet. https://www.crackhousechronicles.com/ https://www.tiktok.com/@crackhousechronicls https://www.facebook.com/crackhousechronicles Check out our MERCH! https://www.teepublic.com/user/crackhousechronicles Sources: https://www.jewage.org/wiki/en/Article:Sharon_Lopatka_-_Biography https://www.crimelibrary.org/notorious_murders/classics/sharon_lopatka/1.html
In the early days of the internet, chat rooms were often the only forms of interaction for people as they navigated their way through the unregulated and mysterious world wide web. And it was in those chat rooms where you could get to know people and divulge your deepest, darkest hidden secrets. But there are dangers that lie within. And this, unfortunately, was the trap that thirty-five-year-old Sharon Lopatka fell into. Sharon was a trusting person, a little too trusting, and it was this misplaced trust that would place her in an early grave. The Sharon Lopatka case is one of the most bizarre crimes we've covered on Mountain Murders. In 1996, Sharon engaged in a consensual homicide -meeting a man on the Internet named Bobby Glass-and asking him to fulfill her sexual fantasy. Warning: this episode contains graphic depictions of sexual violence.Intro Music By Joe Buck YourselfHosts Heather and Dylan Packeremail mountainmurderspodcast@gmail.com
Do you believe in the existence of consensual murder? Is it possible for a person to actually consent to be murdered? And if so - is this a legitimate get-out-of-jail-free card for the killer? These are some of the questions we'll work towards answering as we walk through the murder of Sharon Lopatka, a woman whose body would be found in a shallow grave just a few days after emailing back and forth with a man she had asked to murder her as part of some sort of fantasy. But was this some sort of fetish that went further than Sharon ever thought it would - or is this a legitimate case of consensual murder? Let's talk about it. *Sponsor* Go to http://magicspoon.com/SERIALNAPPER to grab a variety pack and try it today!

Our public persona is what most people know and see, and it becomes the basis of how they love or hate us, and appreciate or judge us. What we tightly guard and don't expose though is our private persona which harbors our deepest thoughts, obsessions and fantasies. Some fantasize about having the fame and wealth of Bill Gates or Beyoncé, the powers of a Marvel superhero, or feed their thoughts with their dream travel destinations. Sharon Rina Lopatka from the town of Hampstead in Maryland was unique as an odd duck – she was obsessed about autassassinophilia, a condition characterized by abnormal sexual desires in which a person is sexually aroused by the risk of being killed. Obsessing about it is one thing, but acting willfully on it is throwing one's self into death's claws. Sharon fulfilled her obsession, but the consequences were utter devastation.
In today's episode, we discuss the story of Sharon Lopatka. Lopatka, an internet entrepreneur with a dangerous sexual fetish who was killed in a case of apparent consensual homicide.Sources: https://popculturecrime.medium.com/sharon-lopatka-and-autassassinophilia-5341b5a898f9https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharon_Lopatka_homicidehttps://www.ranker.com/list/facts-about-sharon-lopatka/cat-mcauliffehttps://popculturecrime.medium.com/sharon-lopatka-and-autassassinophilia-5341b5a898f9
For months, Sharon Lopatka has been exchanging emails with Robert Glass getting him to agree to fulfil her fantasy of getting killed. In October 1996, they finally arranged to meet. Des pro vás máme příběh dvou žen, které se nikdy nesetkaly, ale byly každá na jedné straně zákona... Sharon se stala obětí, Juana postrachem stařenek!
It's here - it's banter - get used to it! Well, at least 6 minutes of it anyway; cause we don't want the WHOLE episode to be banter - we want to get on with the storiez! This week Sarah is bringing us a true crime tale she found on reddit. The write up she found tells the case in the best way possible - so we would like to give a big THANK YOU to the original author: r/TheBonesOfAutumn Leona Disseldorf was a 70 year old retired school teacher who went missing and was later discovered at the bottom of a well. With no family, or real friends around her; the case of who murdered Leona and why remains unsolved to this day. Stephanie wraps up the episode with another true crime case!! But this one is quite the doozy - is it a murder, is it manslaughter, just homicide?? Either way, someone dies and you don't really like anyone involved in the story. Take a listen to the interesting case of Sharon Lopatka and let us know how you feel. Thanks again to reddit user r/TheBonesOfAutumn -- if you're interested, they are a true crime writer and you can find their work on reddit.
Only Domi and Zo todays! They bring you the death of Sharon Lopatka, the woman who makes us ask if murder is consentual, and a double feature of Tarzan and Shergar the racehorse. Can you believe this sh*t?
In an apparent case of consensual murder, Bobby Glass bound and tortured Sharon Lopatka to death after weeks of exchanging sexually explicit emails. Guest hosted by Molly Brandenburg from Conspiracy Theories, a Spotify Original from Parcast.
in 1996, 35 year old Sharon Lopatka wanted a change from her stressful busy life. In Season 3 Episode 29 the girls speak about Murders with Weird Backstories. Holly kicks things off with the bizarre tale of Sharon Lopatka before Gemma chats through the case of Hiroshi Maeue who had a very specific victim group. Holly once again forgets to push the button, she then suggests you un-ring your necrophilia bell, Producer Craig is on fire with sass, Gemma’s murderer is very strangley and Google argues with Gemma’s science. Production, recording and post production completed by Producer Craig who is setting up a remote electrocution button for Holly to train her to hit the record button. Low voltage of course. Well, relatively low. Gemma edited this week. All complaints should be sent directly to Producer Craig who is somewhere in the Scottish central belt running wires in order to enact his final option to make Holly do the basic tasks required to make a podcast. www.whichmurderer.com WARNING - Explicit language, content and themes (plus whatever else will cover us legally). It was the mid-90’s and Sharon Lopatka was super into the brand spankin’ new world wide web. She launched a handful of online businesses. She chatted with newfound friends. She also explored her sexuality. The anonymity of the internet allowed Sharon to discuss some pretty kinky stuff. She went into chat rooms, looking for men to torture her to death. Some said yes, but backed away when the conversation shifted from fantasy to logistics. Then, Sharon found a guy who wasn’t scared. His name was Robert “Bobby” Glass. Then Brandi tells us a horrifying tale that took place right across from her salon. Robin Bell was the manager of a Dollar General in Bonner Springs, Kansas. One night in November of 2005, she planned to work late. The district manager was coming the next day, and she wanted the store to look perfect. But when her husband, Don, woke up in the middle of the night and found that Robin wasn’t in bed with him, he knew something had to be wrong. He drove straight to the Dollar General, using the exact route Robin should have taken back home. But he didn’t find her car along the side of the road. He found it in the store’s parking lot. And now for a note about our process. For each episode, Kristin reads a bunch of articles, then spits them back out in her very limited vocabulary. Brandi copies and pastes from the best sources on the web. And sometimes Wikipedia. (No shade, Wikipedia. We love you.) We owe a huge debt of gratitude to the real experts who covered these cases. In this episode, Kristin pulled from: “A date with death,” by Rachael Bell for the Crime Library “Killer of Carroll woman dies in N.C. prison,” by Sheridan Lyons for the Baltimore Sun “Take my life -- please,” Raleigh News and Observer, November 3, 1996 In this episode, Brandi pulled from: “A year later, family still wondering who killed Tonganoxie woman” by Jesse Truesdale, The Tonganoxie Mirror “Bonner murder leaves lasting impression” by Nicole Kelley, The Basehor Sentinel “Family attends hearing in murder case” by Bobbi Mlynar, The Emporia Gazette “Jurors view grisly video of Dollar General crime scene” by Jesse Truesdale, The Basehor Sentinel “Dollar General killers receive life in prison” by Nicole Kelley, The Chieftain “Third defendant in 2005 Dollar General murder gets maximum juvenile sentence” by Nicole Kelley, The Lawrence Journal-World “State v. Haberlein”http://caselaw.findlaw.com “State v. Backus”http://caselaw.findlaw.com
Sharon Lopatka searched for someone online to fulfill her darkest desires.... and unfortunately, she met just the man.
On this less than pleasant episode, Tom and Jenny discuss two cases of people who apparently wanted to be murdered, and, in one case, eaten. First we talk about the German cannibal Armin Meiwes, who found a willing victim for his murder and cannibalism fantasies online. Then we’ll discuss Sharon Lopatka, a woman who fantasized … Continue reading Episode 208 LIVE: Consensual Murder and Cannibalism – Armin Meiwes and Sharon Lopatka

Sharon Lopatka was your average woman in the mid 90's. That was until she met the AOL chatrooms. Sharon's side hustle of re-writing ads, spiraled into selling dirty panties and a sexual fantasy to be murdered.
Karin berättar om Inna Budnytska, som på något mystiskt sätt försvann från ett hotell i Miami efter ett överfall, och ingen mindre än privatdetektiv Ken Brennan fick kallas in för att lista ut hur det gick till. In some ways Sharon Lopatka was an extremely ordinary woman. Classmates would later describe her as “as normal as you can get”. At age 30, in 1991, she married a construction worker named Victor. Sharon was interested in the internet early, and made her living with various businesses online. She created websites for selling home decor booklets, writing ad copy, and several websites devoted to psychic readings.
