Welcome to the place where we get to let our geek flags fly and talk about all things geek. Basically a fuzzy guide to life, the universe, and everything but mostly geek stuff. Welcome to another edition of the Fuzzballs defending “bad” geeky movies. This time we tackled another movie we love that others claim is not. Blue and I chose Solo: A Star Wars Movie for this defense. Fair warning… we spoil the heck out of this flick that some think is the most unnecessary and not good Star Wars movie. You may find some films to be less than good but we're always prepared to shine our bright lanterny light all over them while talking the good, the bad, and the ugly. THE LIGHTSABER LOUNGE: Rebellious Conversations about the Star Wars Universe.
The first films of the Disney era. Did they restore our faith in the Star Wars universe? Were they able to wrap up loose ends for Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa, and Han Solo and bring an end to the Skywalker story line? We unravel the first instalment of the sequel trilogy: The Force Awakens, and the introduction of new characters such as; Rey, Kylo Ren/Ben Solo, Finn, Poe Dameron and Snoke.
THE LIGHTSABER LOUNGE: Rebellious Conversations about the Star Wars Universe.
We dive into the spin-off standalone films Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016) and Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018) and debate their impact on the main saga and overall franchise. Do self-contained stories within the Star Wars universe offer a refreshing break from the epic saga narrative? Which movie was better? Lets talk! This episode's co-Hosts: Sudhir Datta, Simon Koldyk and Tony Wright.

Valerie reviews Solo: A Star Wars Movie (0:57) while Angela and Tatiana just ask annoying questions because we haven't seen it. Then we discuss the epicness that was Killing Eve's first season (31:25) and why everyone should watch. We also preview Cloak & Dagger (44:34), making the case for why it's Marvel's most grounded show yet. And finally, we talk about all the racist and sexist faux pas committed by everyone from Roseanne Barr to the cast of Arrested Development (59:08).
Have a seat and listen to Episode 19 of the 2 Guys 1 Girl Santa panel as we begrudgingly review the disappointment that was Solo: A Star Wars Movie. Looking back, we should have seen it coming, and while it wasn't a total lost, we have to be brutally honest, otherwise we wouldn't respect ourselves in the morning. Topics include: - All the eye-roll moments, including Han getting his last name. - Confusion, misdirects, and other things that just slowed down the plot and made you ask - WTF?!?!? - That Childish Gambino guy and why he was one of the few things that worked out well. - And finally, why having Darth Maul in the end did nothing but confuse the average fan. Mikey and Josh soak in the summer heat and talk about Solo: A Star Wars Movie. **************** Solo: A Star Wars Story, or simply Solo, is a 2018 American space Western film based on the Star Wars character Han Solo. Directed by Ron Howard, it was produced by Lucasfilm and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, and is the second of the Star Wars anthology films following 2016's Rogue One. A stand-alone installmentset prior to the events of A New Hope, it explores the early adventures of Han Solo and Chewbacca, who also meet a young Lando Calrissian, as they are involved in a heist within the criminal underworld. The film stars Alden Ehrenreich as Solo, alongside Woody Harrelson, Emilia Clarke, Donald Glover, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Joonas Suotamo, and Paul Bettany. George Lucas began development on a young Han Solo film in 2012. Lucas commissioned Lawrence Kasdan to write the screenplay, and Kasdan was later joined by his son, Jonathan. Principal photography began in January 2017 at Pinewood Studios, under the direction of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. The pair left the project in June 2017 after reportedly being fired over "creative differences" with Lucasfilm, and Howard took over directing duties. With an estimated budget of at least $250 million, it is one of the most expensive films ever made. The film had its world premiere in Los Angeles on May 10, 2018, and also screened on May 15 at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival, before its United States release on May 25, 2018 in RealD 3D and IMAX 3D. It received generally positive reviews, with critics praising the cast (particularly Ehrenreich and Glover), visuals and action sequences, although many criticized the pacing and noted that the film added "nothing new" to the Star Wars franchise.
