Unconfirmed ghost ship of the 1940s.
POPULARITY
Throughout maritime history, ships have been found drifting with crews mysteriously vanished, leaving behind half-eaten meals and personal belongings undisturbed. The Mary Celeste in 1872, the Carroll A. Deering in 1921, and even modern vessels like the Kaz II in 2007 share the same eerie pattern – perfectly seaworthy ships abandoned in an instant. Some ghost ships reveal more disturbing scenes, like the Ourang Medan, where an entire crew was found dead with faces frozen in terror. Others seemingly travel through time, appearing decades after their disappearance or in impossible locations. Most fascinating is the legend of a Spanish galleon found deep in the Mojave Desert, miles from any ocean. These maritime mysteries span centuries and oceans, reminding us that despite our technology, some things remain beyond human understanding.

Located between Bermuda, Puerto Rico, and the tip of Florida, this area has puzzled people for over 100 years. From the spooky disappearance of the USS Cyclops with 306 crew members in 1918 to the more recent sinking of the SS El Faro in 2015, the Bermuda Triangle becomes more mysterious year after year. Tonight we'll look at some of the strangest events in the Triangle, like Flight 19, which vanished during a routine training mission; and the Witchcraft, a boat that disappeared just minutes after calling for help. We'll look at other locations around the world similar to the Bermuda Triangle that don't get the same recognition – but are just as mysterious. And while we're in the water, we'll touch on a few ocean ghost stories, and reports of sea monsters. So before we get started, if you tend to get sea sick, you might want to grab your Dramamine.CHAPTERS & TIME STAMPS (All Times Approximate and Only Accurate For the Commercial Version)…00:00:00.000 = Lead-In00:01:21.662 = Show Open00:02:05.707 = Bermuda Triangle: A History of Mystery00:10:13.632 = Vile Vortices Around the World00:20:43.194 = Monsters Beneath The Waves00:38:49.705 = Ocean Ghost Storeis00:48:08.720 = Show CloseSOURCES AND RESOURCES FROM THE EPISODE…Bermuda Triangle sources: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/6sw5aj4j, https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/3mf3vvw6Vile Vortices source: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/2p8fhp3bOcean Ghost Stories source: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/rmhs277yMonsters Beneath The Waves source: https://weirddarkness.tiny.us/596estzu=====(Over time links seen above may become invalid, disappear, or have different content. Throughout history, some ships have gained creepy reputations thanks to mysterious disappearances and strange sightings. Take the Mary Celeste, for example—a ship found drifting at sea in 1872 with no crew aboard but everything else perfectly in place. Then there's the Flying Dutchman, a ghost ship legend about a vessel doomed to sail the oceans forever, often spotted glowing eerily. Another spooky story is about the Ourang Medan, where the crew was found dead with terrified expressions, and no one knows what happened. These tales have inspired everything from ghost stories to movies, keeping their mystery alive. Whether they're real or just sailor folklore, these haunted ships give us goosebumps and make the sea feel even more mysterious! #brightside Animation is created by Bright Side. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Music from TheSoul Sound: https://thesoul-sound.com/ Check our Bright Side podcast on Spotify and leave a positive review! https://open.spotify.com/show/0hUkPxD... On this extended sidebar, Ella brings us the story of the Ourang Medan, a ghost ship found floating in the middle of the pacific with the entire crew dead. Or was it never found, its only survivor finding his way to a barely-inhabited atoll and living just long enough to relay how his whole crew had perished due to some unknown force? Or was it found in the straits of Indonesia, with the deceased crew all staring upward in abject horror? It's a creepy story with a fairly mundane truth living in its center.

Ghost ships have long interested me, mostly because the ocean and all of its depths have interested me. Don't get me wrong, I'm not remotely interested in plunging miles below it's surface to see a shipwreck-but it's still a mystery. The Ourang Medan is no different, except that for many years people have speculated that something paranormal may have been involved in the deaths of the Ourang Medan crew; especially when their bodies were found with eyes open and mouths frozen in screaming terror. While recording our 12th episode of the podcast (Unsolved: The S.S. Ourang Medan) we touched on one of the Military's most well known Conspiracy Theories. However it wasn't until one of our listeners asked if we ever followed up on it that we decided to cover the story of the Philadelphia Experiment. This experiment had books and movies created surrounding some of the theories that people have about the various events that transpired back in 1943. No one truly knows what happened during this experiment, that is unless you just want to believe what the Navy says. But in this week's episode Lory takes over as host and gets justice for her childhood theory and goes through the various conspiracies surrounding this experiment. Enjoy!

We're back again for episode three, where Meara didn't even lie and pretend she liked the fruity mules that were made. We're veering into some more ghostly shenanigans, this time out in the ocean: the Mary Celeste, which was discovered in 1872, and the Ourang Medan, which was allegedly discovered sometime in the 1940s. Morgan also questions the skills of people giving us locations in the ocean, and Meara gives us so many nautical terms that we're considering setting sail.Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mysteriocities/Twitter: https://twitter.com/mysteriocitiesFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/mysteriocitiesTik Tok: https://www.tiktok.com/@mysteriocities
The Death Ship Ourang Medan is shrouded in urban legends and mystery. Can we decode whether any of these claims are true?
'Ghost Ships' are synonymous with the golden age of piracy - the words conjure images of huge galleons with tattered sails and skeleton crews, sailing through the mist hundreds of years ago, reassuringly far removed from modern life. The story of the SS Ourang Medan, however, is disturbingly modern - the tale of a true ghost ship that has frightened people all over the world, from hardened sailors to agents in the highest echelons of government. It's time for Rory and Kit to investigate this story.Buy Official TPL Merch! - thisparanormallife.com/storeSupport us on Patreon.com/ThisParanormalLife to get access to bonus episodes!Follow us on Twitter, Instagram, and YouTubeJoin our Secret Society Facebook CommunityAdvertise on This Paranormal Life via Gumball.fmResearch by Amy GrisdaleIntro music by www.purple-planet.com

On this episode of Strange Places, we go nautical again. I usually do not like repeating themes, but this one was too good to pass up. Want a good ghost ship story? Who doesn't? But this one, I believe, takes the cake. ------------------------------------------- DISTROKID AFFILIATE LINK: https://distrokid.com/vip/seven/3128872 --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/billie-dean-shoemate-iii/message Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/billie-dean-shoemate-iii/support
