In the final episode of our Liverpool Squad Talk series, we shift our focus to the attack - evaluating Liverpool's current forwards and analysing potential new signings ahead of the 2025/26 season under Arne Slot. With Mohamed Salah staying at the club, Liverpool still have one of the game's biggest match-winners. But question marks remain elsewhere.Darwin Núñez's long-term role is uncertain, Luis Díaz continues to be linked with a move away, Diogo Jota's injury record raises concerns, and while Cody Gakpo has been one of the most consistent performers, the squad may still need greater firepower and depth. Federico Chiesa, who joined last summer, has barely featured – will he finally make an impact or be moved on?But more importantly, who should Liverpool be targeting to elevate the attack? In this episode, we'll break down realistic transfer options that could fit the system, complement current players, and bring a new dynamic to the frontline.

Podcast Intro: The Portugal Corner - Episode 177 - The Usual SuspectsWelcome to The Portugal Corner! The podcast where we dive into all things Portuguese soccer—the good, the bad, and the funny! It's St. Patrick's Day, and we're celebrating with some GuinnessIn a move that caught many by surprise, Chelsea has swooped in to secure two of Portugal's brightest young stars—Quenda and Dario Essugo. The Blues locked in deals worth €50M and €20M, respectively, on delayed loans. With Chelsea's track record of acquiring young talent, we discuss what the future holds for these rising midfielders and whether this move will help or hinder their development.Portugal's squad for the Nations League playoffs is out, and we analyze Roberto Martínez's selections. Is the midfield trio of Vitinha, João Neves, and Bruno Fernandes the right call? Will these choices propel the team to victory, or do we see cracks in the foundation?Sporting CP continues their dominant form, storming past Famalicão with a convincing 3-1 victory. The match saw Fresneda break the deadlock after a stunning run from "Thicc Vic". Famalicão kept things competitive by equalizing through a penalty just before halftime, but Sporting had the last laugh. "Thicc Vic" himself converts from the spot.Returning to domestic action, Benfica faced Rio Ave and started strong with a stunning strike from Orkun Kökçü. However, despite going 2-0 up, two sloppy defensive mistakes—one notably from Tino—allowed Rio Ave back into the match. Fortunately, Aturkoglu stepped up to restore order, securing the much-needed three points.Desperate for stability, Porto reverted to a back-four system, and it paid off with a solid 2-0 victory over AVS. Rising star Rodrigo Mora opened the scoring, bringing energy back into the squad. Fábio Vieira followed up with a thunderous one-timer to double the lead. AVS didn't help their case as Ignacio Rodriguez saw red early in the second half, giving Porto the advantage for the final 45 minutes.Guimarães' European campaign ended in disappointment as Real Betis walked into Portugal and delivered a crushing 4-0 defeat. Even Antony found himself on the scoresheet. However, the team bounced back on the weekend with a hard-fought 2-0 win over Estrela Amadora, with Thomas Handel and Arcanjo providing the goals.Bruno Fernandes continues to prove his worth, delivering a hat-trick (including two penalties) and an assist as Manchester United crushed Real Sociedad 4-1 in the Europa League. He followed it up with a goal against Leicester in a 3-0 weekend win, assisted by Dalot.Jota Silva, shinea for Nottingham Forest, scoring in a vital 4-2 victory over Ipswich. Nuno Espírito Santo's Nottingham Forest locks in third place with this crucial win.PSG survived a Champions League scare, advancing past Liverpool on penalties. Vitinha and Ramos kept their cool from the spot, while Darwin Núñez's miss proved costly. On the domestic front, Nuno Mendes scored his first Ligue 1 goal of the season in Le Classique, helping PSG secure a 3-1 win over Marseille and extend their lead at the top to a staggering 19 points. We took some heat for not nominating Mendes for last week's João Wonder—our bad!Another game, another goal for CR7. Ronaldo netted his 928th career goal as Al-Nassr defeated Al-Kholood .Toronto FC's home opener didn't go as planned, suffering a 2-1 defeat to Chicago Fire. Stonk of the Week: A jaw-dropping goal from a Phoenix Rising player in the USL.João Wonder (Best Portuguese Player of the Week): Bruno Fernandes for his four-goal week, further cementing his place as one of Portugal's top midfielders. Thanks for tuning in! Welcome back to It's All Kicking Off! This week, Ian and Chris dive straight into the chaos, starting with Man City's complaints about the dry pitch at Forest - again! Chris breaks down what this really means, and we ask: do City even deserve a Champions League spot next season? With the Premier League likely securing five spots, are we rewarding mediocrity? Meanwhile, Forest's defence is making waves, and goalkeeper Matz Sels, once fourth choice in January, is proving to be an absolute steal. But over at City, Pep Guardiola seems unfazed about the Club World Cup, happily sending the wives and girlfriends while he plays golf. Are they just tossing it off? Over at Liverpool, the Darwin Núñez red card drama rages on - was it the right call? Plus, Jurgen Klopp says he'll be at the title parade if they win the league, but should he stay away and let the players take centre stage? Arsenal's season has gone from title challenge to surrender. Just one win in four since that City hammering - why haven't they even made Liverpool sweat? And at Manchester United, fans are protesting - but does any of it really matter when the football isn't up to scratch? Plus, the Bruno Fernandes free-kick controversy: was the wall actually too far back, or was it just classic Bruno bending the rules? All that and more on this week's episode of It's All Kicking Off! Title says it all, really. Five losses and a draw after being up 3-0 … there has surely never been a bleaker moment in a Pep team. Maybe Rodri really is just that important, as Jacob explains through an insightful “field tilt” visualization. Our first Dilemma Deliberation is more theoretical (though very applicable): Is it better to start a goalkeeper from a worse defense against a worse attack, or a goalkeeper from a better defense against a better attack? We posit that it's quite helpful to imagine yourself owning an attacker from each of the opposing teams and comparing how confident you feel in each attacker. On a very practical note, we then consider a few teams whose fixtures are about to plummet and look at potential replacements for popular assets from these teams. Along the way, Darwin Núñez, Alejandro Garnacho, Timo Werner, and Adama Traoré get mentioned in the same group; brownie points if you can figure out what it is! Finally, we round the episode off with captaincy—would it be madness to captain any player against City? In their current pep-less (intentionally lowercase, mind you) state, perhaps not … Follow us on Twitter: @FplFortress

We're back again in our ongoing series of top products according to the TFB crew. Previously we've talked about our top 5 and top 3 guns for a minimalist setup, but after seeing how almost everyone will default to the same types of guns almost every time, I thought we'd shake things up a bit this week. This week we're talking micro red dots. Just 20 years ago the first inklings of the concept were starting to take hold in the competitive shooting and military world. Today we're pretty spoiled for choice when it comes to red dot optics on pistols and that's why I'm joined today by TFB writers Nic L and Darwin N to talk about their current top 5 pistol dots (not all of them are red). Nic has been a frequent guest on our show and not only produces content for TFB but also hosts his own podcast and produces videos of his own about just about everything in the firearms space. Darwin is one of the newest recruits to the TFB squad and brings a lot of experience from both within the firearms industry, and outside of the firearms industry as a competitive shooter and life-long gun nerd. So what will their top 5 pistol red dot optics be? Tune in and find out in this week's episode of TFB's Behind the Gun Podcast. The Premier League is back following a breathless summer where we scarcely had any break from football at all. Still, it's a new season brimming with possibilities, and CHELSEA vs MAN CITY is a fine marquee fixture for the opening weekend. These are two teams making considerable news off the pitch, with Chelsea's freewheeling—some would say "chaotic"—transfer spending and City finally (maybe) facing the music on those 115 charges. Could this be Pep Guardiola's last season in Manchester regardless of how that inquiry turns out, or whether the Citizens take a fifth-straight Premier League title? And what will Cole Palmer do to his former employers under the tutelage of new manager (and Guardiola acolyte) Enzo Maresca?Joining us to preview the match and the Prem season writ large is SANNY RUDRAVAJHALA, reporter for Sky Sports News and beyond who hails from the Manchester area. He zoomed in from his back garden to assess Chelsea's 40-something-player squad, the new-look Manchester United under the same old ten Hag, whether Tottenham could be a dark horse to compete at the top of the league, and whether Darwin Núñez is his dark-horse pick for this season's top scorer. If you're enjoying The Football Weekend, please give us a rating and leave a review on this podcast platform!
