In a thrilling announcement that has fans of both franchises buzzing, Paramount Pictures has confirmed the upcoming crossover movie featuring G.I. Joe and the Transformers. This iconic union, hinted at in last summer's "Transformers: Rise of the Beasts," is set to bring together these two legendary Hasbro brands in a cinematic spectacle. The exciting venture will be executive produced by none other than Steven Spielberg, a nod to the seriousness with which the studio is treating this ambitious project. While the film currently has no director attached, the concept was originally developed by Steven Caple Jr. during the making of "Rise of the Beasts." Lorenzo di Bonaventura, a name synonymous with the Transformers franchise, will return to produce the film alongside Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto, and Don Murphy. I've grown up owning a LARGE amount of Transformers toys and enjoying some of the early material but these movies really burned me by Age of Extinction and The Last Knight. I'm a fan of Steven Caple Jr's work from Creed II so I was really pulling for him to make the first great MAINLINE Transformers movie (I REALLY liked Bumblebee). After the major disappointment that was "Transformers: The Last Knight", it seemed as though all hope was lost for this Cybertronian franchise. However, with well defined characters, well shot action scenes, and some nostalgic storytelling, it seems the little Volkswagon Beetle that could has brought new life into this franchise.
