Nearly 3 years ago we began the project of restarting our podcast after a 12-year hiatus. We were a bit rusty at first, we had some crappy audio and it took a while to get back into our groove. But, to commemorate the event we thought we'd present all you loyal Dispatchers with our first episode...with slightly improved audio! You're welcome.Embark on a high-velocity tour through the galaxy of geek culture! We'll share the untold tales of Brian Blessed's boisterous portrayal of Vultan and how Flash Gordon charmingly outmaneuvered Indiana Jones across the pond, with a royal nod from Queen Elizabeth II herself. It's an intergalactic mashup of culture that will have you laughing and longing for a time when sci-fi was as much about fun as it was about the future. Strap in, listeners—this episode is all about celebrating the chaotic charm that is Flash Gordon.
In this episode Bill talks with Navy Veteran, ACU2 Shipmate, Internet Radio Host, and Musician, Domonic Rini. First off, apologize for the poor internet connection on Doms side, but it just wouldn't be an authentic time with Domonic if everything went perfect. In this episode, which will surely get us cancelled by PETA, we talk about Domonics childhood smoking cigarettes' and playing guitar, having to join the Navy to stay out of trouble, Yet finding trouble while in the Navy. We talk about being Seaman Pyle in Boot Camp, his love for the Phillipines, doing comedy for the Leper Colony, sending monkeys on a balloon ride, eating his dog Wimpy, his admiration for Snake Pliskin, and having a bad reaction to tattoo ink. We also talk about his times running in local politics, the impressions he made on Governor Voinovich with his fashion statements, How Maximum Threshold Radio came to be, and why his band Vultan only puts out greatest hits and should be playing major festivals across America, plus so much more. Not one, not two, but three songs are on the agenda today. "Flash to the Rescue" is a spin on the classic theme, and it's a lovely tense crescendo from Brian. "Vultan's Theme (Attack of the Hawk Men)" is a Freddie offering and a delightfully playful and energizing one. Finally, "Battle Theme", another Brian number, explodes with intensity, classic Queen guitar riffs, and plenty of rock 'n' roll flare (including some fabulous drums). --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/tater-thoughts/message

Gordon's Alive! What a movie this is! It's either a two star or a six star and that rating changes from scene to scene. There are parts of this movie that are so dumb that they have to be seen to be believed. There are also parts of it that are great. You also can't believe how good it looks. It's totally unique in modern-ish movies. Please go and just look at the sets.Plus! Was there meant to be a sequel? Was it meant to be directed by an arty Italian type? How does Enter the Dragon play into all this? You will have to go look all of that up yourself won't you. Or just listen. It's easier and more fun if you listen, to be honest. Also! Is Star Wars just a big rip off from professional idea thief, George Lucas? Yes. Yes it absolutely is that. Just go back and look at Flash Gordon comics from the 1930s and 40s and see with your own eyes that even the metal bikini is a different perverted man's idea. I'm starting to wonder if Jar Jar Binks is just an ugly Lizardman. Thanks as always. #582 MTRS - Just a show to tie you over First off we want to wish the King a very Happy Birthday! King Diamond that is! This was not a planned show by far. This was just a ragged put together show. Dom wanted to let everyone know that he will be unavailable for a few weeks due to the fact that he will be in the studio working on the full length record with the world famous VULTAN. So its be taking up alot of his time and will for the month and wanted to let everyone know that he has not forgotten about you. He is honing in on his craft and wanted to make the absolute best music he can with Vultan. Please excuse the audio in this, it is pure crap! The music is great but his phone recorded audio is just pure crap! Did I say that already. Music featured on this episode is Frank Palangi as he currently released the video for "Gone Mad." Also we are dropping the song for you by the NY hardcore band ENRAGE, the track All Right. Finishing off the show if some tasty Vultan. Enjoy this shortened show. Episode Notes Hey there! Welcome to Combo Breaker! A one two punch of enthusiasm! This week I'm talking about the movie, Flash Gordon, from 1980. It has a collection of colorful characters, a soundtrack by Queen, and a some bonkers set designs. I love it. Vultan is my favorite. A little about me, I'm Cole and I love video games. I started OK Retro to play games with my friends and share my enthusiasm with others. I love games from the late 80s and early 90s but video games have always been in my life. I play all sorts of games through out the years and genres. If you enjoyed the podcast I hope you subscribe!Follow me on Twitch: http://twitch.tv/weareokretro Follow me on Twitter: http://twitter.com/weareokretro Follow me on Instagram: http://instagram.com/weareokretro

From the vault interview with Michael, Dom and Jeff at Rock on the Range they had a blast with the band Wage War and these cats weren't down with our fun. Very evident in this interview, this is a must listen to and feel the uncomfortable feeling. Gotta love it! Also Dom played an interview Bill of Today's Boondoggle did with Head Ned of Okilly Dokilly. We learned alot from this interview and hope you did too. Opened the show talking about Vultan and their upcoming show with Quiet Riot and the rescheduled/cancelled gig with DiRT. Music Played: Dee Snider, Wage War and Okilly Dokilly. We also played the weekly Rock N Metal Newz segment. Thanks for tuning in to our live broadcast of the Maximum Threshold Radio Show and also thanks for downloading this episode. Continue reading Afsnit 155: Flash Gordon Podcast 01 – Flash Gordon (1936) Part II

Flash! You know the rest. On this episode we took a look at the cult classic Flash Gordon from 1980. Neither of us had much previous experience with this movie and we both had different opinions at the end. Flash Gordon is a pretty straight-forward sci-fi tale of an Earthman sent into outer space where he encounters Ming the Merciless. He is tasked with overthrowing the maniacal ruler of Mingo City and preventing the destruction of Earth. This movie is like no other movie we’ve talked about on our list. We had a pretty good time talking about it, and we hope you enjoy the episode. Where does Flash Gordon rate for you? We’d love to know if it’s considered to be classic camp fun, or better left forgotten.
