As a journalist reporting on Afghan women's rights, Zahra Joya was forced to flee Afghanistan when the Taliban returned to power in 2021. Through her platform Rukhshana Media, Joya is now determined to give a voice to the women of Afghanistan. With Afghanistan becoming increasingly less accessible to the international media, Afghan women's stories are rarely covered. As a result, Afghan women's voices are not only silenced at home, but overlooked by the rest of the world too. Today, journalist and Time Woman of the Year Zahra Joya will outline the current situation in Afghanistan and the role of female reporters. How do you secure their safety while at the same time make sure their stories are heard? Last January, the International Criminal Court requested arrest warrants for the supreme leader of the Taliban and the chief justice of Afghanistan, on the grounds that their persecution of women is a crime against humanity. What sign does this give for the future? And what is the responsibility of the international community?Supported by Vfonds.Zie het privacybeleid op https://art19.com/privacy en de privacyverklaring van Californië op https://art19.com/privacy#do-not-sell-my-info.

Baluchistan Genocide Part 1 of 4

The moderator gives a brief introduction. You know, the Baluch problem started in 1833 when the British basically wanted to expand their imperial empire to Afghanistan. And there are two routes to Afghanistan. One is to Baluchistan, one is to NWFP. And they tried it through that route, the other route, and they faced basically drastic humiliation.   When the army went in, basically one man was left alive to take the message, don't bother coming to Afghanistan, in a sense. But then they tried to come through Baluchistan and the Baluch people resisted. So the British played the game of basically, I want to lay a railway line, I want to lay a telegraph line. The current border between Pakistan and Iran, which is inside Baluchistan, is the General Gord Smith's telegraph line. Okay. And to cut this story short, basically the British divided us first on this line. It's a long story, I don't wanna go through it.    And then in 1928, basically Iran took that part and made it part of Iran. And In 1967, Pakistan was formed. Then the other part of Balochistan, in 1947, March 1948, Pakistan mobilized troops, backed fully by the British at the time, and occupied us. And thus, basically, we're the nutshell of history again. The other part of Ghatia, which was in Afghanistan, the British divided us on that line as well. And also, Afghanistan gave compensation to the British in the second and third Afghan war. So those territories are inside Balochistan, but we regard them as Afghan territories, so we don't regard them as ours. But we will release them. It's not in our control at the moment. When we're an independent Balochistan, obviously we will give Afghanistan their territory back and so on and so forth mutually. With Afghanistan, we always had a very good relationship. It's just that Pakistan and Iran is our problem. August is steamy hot—and so is the news. Trump is indicted again, Senator Tuberville is making dumb moves again. And extremist domestic terrorists are threatening our peace and politicians' lives again. So much for summer downtime, people. This is a time for focus. And as it all unfolds on a daily, sometimes hourly basis. And this summer is still, definitely a time to #StayVigilant.  Paul Rieckhoff is quickly breaking it down—so you can get up to speed, and head back to the beach.  And we flash back to a powerful and foreboding conversation from right after the fall of Afghanistan—two years ago this month. With Afghanistan war vet, humanitarian and then-maverick Republican Congressman Peter Meijer—who had just returned from a trip inside Afghanistan. He described the harrowing situation he saw on the ground, the policy failures that were unfolding, and predicted much of the dark future Afghanistan exists in today. This an inside look into how the decisions of two years ago created the Great American Betrayal of Afghanistan that continues to compound today.  Every episode of Independent Americans hosted by author, activist and social entrepreneur Paul Rieckhoff (@PaulRieckhoff) is the truth beyond the headlines–and light to contrast the heat of other politics and news shows. It's content for the 49% of Americans that proudly call themselves independent. Always with a unique focus on national security, foreign affairs and military and veterans issues. This is another pod to help you stay vigilant. Because vigilance is the price of democracy. HBH is thrilled to welcome back our good friend, Omar Kahn. Today, Omar tells us of an operation he undertook as a private investigator against the vast smuggling network of Ayub Afridi, the single largest funding source for Al-Qaeda.Dating back to the 1970s and through the early 2000s, Afridi ran one of the biggest smuggling operations the world has ever seen. With Afghanistan's infamous opium trade as its bedrock, Afridi's organization traded tens of billions of dollars in contraband and cash. Despite the nature of his business, like Pablo Escobar in Colombia, Afridi was beloved, and was even elected to Pakistan's National Assembly. The Khyber Pass leads through the towering Hindu Kush mountains of northwest Pakistan and is the gateway to eastern Afghanistan. These mountains once stopped Alexander the Great and sheltered Osama bin Laden. For nearly 40 years they were controlled by Ayub Afridi. Omar's mission would lead him into those very mountains. If you missed Omar's previous episode ‘Destroying a $50 Billion Chinese Mob Smuggling Operation'. You'll find it at Episode 2 on the HBH page, on whichever platform you listen.Omar Kahn worked as an international private investigator for many years, where he was hired by dozens of intelligence organizations and private security firms. He now works full-time as a psychic medium where he uses his intuitive abilities to advise high-profile clients around the world.

With Afghanistan now firmly in the hands of the Taliban, a full-scale war on women is underway inside that country. Women are being forcibly married, hunted, beaten and killed. Our President and many in Congress want to turn the page. But Zainab Salbi is on the front lines of the fight—and refuses to allow it.  We continue the Independent Americans deep dive into Afghanistan and all the ways it's impacting the world, national security and American politics, with a focus this episode on the 14 million women left to fight and die under Taliban rule.  Zainab Salbi is an activist, author, Founder of Women for Women International, a renowned journalist. And she is a returning guest and audience favorite. She first appeared on this show in May 2019 and is back to break it down.  Raised in Baghdad, Iraq, Zainab grew up as a small girl calling Saddam Hussein her uncle. Her father was Hussein's private pilot and from an early age, Zainab was thrust into the small and twisted circle of the notorious dictator. She escaped an abusive arranged marriage with only $400 in her pocket and would go from working in a Hallmark store in Chicago to receiving honors from the President of the United States at the White House. She now is a best-selling author and one of the most powerful Muslim-American voices in media and politics. Zainab has dedicated her life to the cause of helping women everywhere. And there has been no more urgent crisis than this one.  And with mounting tensions and issues for women everywhere reaching a boiling point, Zainab is the perfect voice for this moment. With Afghanistan providing the source of 90% of the world's supply of illicit-opium, the war on drugs has become interviewed with Afghan society and the insurgency that depends on it for its survival. Gareth's research goes to the heart of understanding modern insurgency and the role of the militaries in countering threats that are a nexus of criminal and politically-motivated groups.

Summary: John Rubino and I discuss what's new with precious metals, Afghanistan, and lockdowns on today's episode. Gold and Silver recently fell hard—going in the opposite direction as stocks—but miners are still making decent profits and it is an ideal time for the operation sector. We delve into the US' exit from Afghanistan, which went so poorly because soldiers were removed prior to American citizens and millions of dollars worth of military gear. This has a number of negative implications going forward, and could pose threats to the US government. Furthermore, Rubino and I investigate the newest COVID lockdowns in France and Australia, and the protests that shed light on thoughts around the new variants and what to expect in the near future. Highlights: -Looking at what happened with gold and silver: they had a flash crash -The precious metals fell hard, but stocks did not - asset classes going in opposite directions, and one of them had to be wrong. -The new COVID variant gives the fed the excuse to continue with QE and artificial and low interest rates, even in the face of higher inflation -Miners are still making good money, so it's a good point in time for the precious metals operation sector -With Afghanistan, this is perhaps the worst we've ever seen. Rubino says that our exit from Afghanistan was poor because we removed soldiers prior to American citizens and millions of dollars worth of military gear -This sends a message to other predators around the world that they have somewhat of a free hand now -There is an opportunity for other governments to get what they want with not as much risk. Militarily, this is terrifying. -This circumstance may remind one of the 1970s -We really could use leadership, which seems to be absent at the moment -With the current leadership in the US, there are many other distractions - we place much focus on domestic terrorism, racism, etc. that don't fit within other larger military issues -The Darwin Effect: people sense weakness, and take advantage of it, and this is how geopolitics works - you get what you can. -We have to lump the US in with the group of predators in the world - there has to be a balance of power such that no one indulges their predatory instincts -There's going to be a big fight on divvying up Afghanistan, and the US will not be running the show -We've created the conditions for turmoil and for fairly extreme things to happen -Geopolitical circumstances, inflation, and labor shortages contribute to these conditions -There are a lot of low probability events that contribute to a high probability event -Ongoing demonstrations in Australia and France over lockdowns -Primarily middle class protestors - these are the people most frustrated by these lockdowns -The government put no emphasis on therapeutics in regard to COVID treatment/vaccination -80% of people who perished from COVID had Vitamin C deficiencies -There is a desire to eliminate the control group so that we will only know what will happen if people are vaccinated Useful Links: Financial Survival Network Dollar Collapse
