Os últimos anos têm tornado mais visíveis alguns processos sensíveis no campo da cultura, da universidade e, sobretudo, das ciências humanas. A emergência de variadas modalidades de negacionismo, anti-intelectualismos de distintas vertentes e críticas públicas ao discurso professoral, contudo, não são fenômenos recentes, apesar de que tenham se combinado de maneira específica na atualidade. Afirmar que eles não são recentes significa assumir que essas dinâmicas têm sua própria história e, menos e mais do que serem apenas epifenômenos de uma “hostilidade ao conhecimento” ou manifestações de ignorância em sentido estrito, essas tendências comportam e se articulam com projetos políticos específicos. Não surgem espontaneamente, portanto, e demandam uma atenção histórica que contemple não apenas sua gênese mas também seu funcionamento social e as posições que ajuda a consolidar no campo das ciências. Por isso, reconhecemos que é importante entender de que maneira a crítica da universidade, por exemplo, se articula historicamente com o próprio processo de institucionalização do conhecimento que lhe dá origem. Da mesma forma, consideramos fundamental compreender de que maneira os anti-intelectualismos contemporâneos se articulam a uma visão específica do sentido da atuação intelectual, definida e redefinida constantemente ao longo do século XX.Tendo em mente questões como essas, nós, do LPPE, articulamos o projeto da Série Contrafogos.
