Can you actually change your desires? In this episode of the Catholic Coaching Podcast, Matt and Erin continue their discernment series by exploring the role of desire in the spiritual life. Many Catholics feel suspicious of desire, as if wanting something automatically means it is selfish, disordered, or opposed to God's will. But desire itself is not the enemy. Unexplored desire is often what keeps us stuck. In this episode, we discuss:* What desire actually is* Why desire is morally neutral* The difference between ordered and disordered desires* Why God is not afraid of what you want* How unexplored desires can lead us away from God* Why your desires are not fixed forever* How neuroplasticity helps explain changing desire* How attention, habit, identity, and contemplation shape what we want* Why bringing desire to the Lord can lead to freedomJesus asks, “What do you seek?” That question is not meant to shame us. It is an invitation into deeper relationship, purification, and freedom. If you feel stuck, unmotivated, ashamed of what you want, or unsure how your desires fit into God's will, this episode will help you begin bringing those desires into prayer.Send us Fan MailSupport the show____________________► Make sure to SUBSCRIBE to the Metanoia Catholic YouTube Channel!► Discover How God Is Speaking to You In Prayer► Find out your temperament: Take the Free Quiz► Get the Conversation Starter Guide (FREE) ► Take the Quiz: WHAT TYPE OF COACH ARE YOU?► GET THE DAILY SEVEN JOURNAL!This interactive journal will help you transform your life from the inside out by teaching you how to grow in gratitude, set healthy goals, and gain mastery over your thoughts.► JOIN THE ACADEMY!Your online resource of classes, tools, and community to ramp up your growth and really change your life. Embarrassment is a unexplored virtue. The truth about the church is that we never really know what we're walking into and we never really know who God is going to drag through the door. And sometimes the slides don't work, or the microphone feeds back, or the sermon falls flat, but at least it's real. Sometimes we sit next to someone who gets on our nerves, or the prayers hint at a reality we're not entirely sure about, or we shake a sweaty hand during the passing of the peace, but at least we're actually spending time with actual people. Sometimes we cry and we don't know why, or we ache for something we can't quite describe, or we feel weary about everything we're carrying, but at least we have a God who refuses to be anything other than God with us. Be strange, Peter says, because God is strange. Only God would come up with an idea for something like the church, only God would give without ever expecting much of anything in return, only God would be willing to die so that we can live. Our faith gives us the courage to do embarrassing things because our faith isn't in us, its in Jesus. When you know someone loves you no matter how bad your dancing turns out to be, or how much you cry at the weirdest things, or how much you laugh at jokes that aren't really that funny, well then you know what it means to be free. That's the love that God has for you, it's more precious than gold and it's imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. You are loved so much that you can go out there and make a fool of yourself. Feel that feeling of faithful embarrassment because everything that matters is on the other side of that.
There are still some places on Earth that remain a total mystery, and we're not even sure if they really exist! For example, there's the legendary city of Atlantis, which people have been searching for forever—some say it's hidden beneath the ocean. Then there's the Eye of the Sahara, a massive spiral formation in the desert that might have been a meteor crash site or even the ruins of an ancient city. The Amazon rainforest is another mystery; deep inside, there are rumored to be uncontacted tribes and hidden temples. Even in modern times, places like Mount Roraima in South America seem like they belong to another world, with their flat-topped peaks shrouded in mist. So, even with all our technology, some places still keep their secrets! Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

As energy demand surges, how is the U.S. Department of Energy supporting breakthrough technologies to strengthen grid resilience? ARPA-E Director Conor Prochaska shares how the agency is identifying and advancing high-impact solutions, including fusion (which he thinks is getting closer), advanced nuclear, next-generation geothermal, long duration storage and more to help meet growing demand. But technology alone isn't enough. Prochaska also highlights the critical role of public-private partnerships and faster commercialization pathways in bringing these innovations to scale. We recorded this live at CeraWeek in Houston and will be joining the ARPA-E Energy Innovation Summit next week. Hope to see you in San Diego.

We capture concentrated methane emissions from point sources like dairy barns, landfills, and coal mines. Mitigating methane emissions is essential to hitting net-zero targets, but could we capture diluted gasses straight from the atmosphere, too? In this episode, Shayle talks to Dr. Gabrielle Dreyfus, Chief Scientist at the Institute For Governance & Sustainable Development, about a National Academy of Sciences report on the unexplored area of methane removal. Gabrielle chaired the committee behind the report. Shayle and Gabrielle cover topics like: Why methane removal may be critical to addressing methane from hard-to-abate sources, like enteric emissions and tropical wetlands Key differences between methane removal and carbon dioxide removal How reducing methane in the atmosphere may also reduce its atmospheric lifetime Technological pathways, including reactors, concentrators, surface treatments, ecosystem uptake enhancement, and atmospheric oxidation enhancement The potential for combining methane and carbon dioxide removal in direct air capture Recommended resources Catalyst: Why are we still flaring gas? There aren't many places on Earth you can call unexplored. The Darién Gap in Panama is one of them. This mountainous, densely forested area, which is often used by refugees to cross from South to North America, is a place where you won't find any roads, shops or hospitals. When you're there, your survival depends on you. As it happens, it's also one of the world's most beautiful and biodiverse places, with more biodiversity per square foot than the Amazon despite being much smaller. Plus, it has one of the highest carbon stocks in the world. Home to venomous snakes, poisonous insects and dangerous rivers, the Darién Gap is one of the riskiest places to be. And that's exactly where Alexandra Climent, a grassroots conservationist and artist, has decided to do her life's work. Despite its remoteness, even the Darién Gap is falling prey to fast deforestation and habitat fragmentation. Alexandra has been working with indigenous communities to buy up degraded land and reforesting it with native trees. The goal is clear: to create a 5,000-hectare forest corridor for wildlife that will connect reforested areas with protected areas and serve as an important carbon sink. Listen to Alexandra's story to discover why protecting this place matters, and why now. Alexandra Climent is a grassroots environmentalist, Founder of Endangered Rainforest Rescue, and an artist who makes beautiful furniture and sculpture from fallen trees.

Summary Simeon Hein discusses his background and how he became interested in paranormal topics, particularly remote viewing. He emphasizes the need to explore and study these phenomena, which are often stigmatized and ridiculed. Hein believes that there is a whole realm of unexplored phenomena related to other states of matter and quantum phenomena. He also discusses the importance of open discussion and disclosure, as well as the potential benefits of understanding these phenomena. In this part of the conversation, Simeon Hein and Generation X Paranormal discuss the issue of bureaucratic inefficiency and the lack of transparency in government organizations. They also delve into the topic of Bigfoot and explore the possibility of Bigfoot being an interdimensional creature. They discuss witness accounts of Bigfoot being associated with orbs, ball lightning, invisibility, and space-time distortions. Simeon Hein suggests that Bigfoot may be a form of coherent matter, similar to the creature from the Predator movies. He also mentions the existence of classified military projects and defense contractors filing patents for phenomena that seem paranormal. In this final part of the conversation, Simeon Hein discusses the possibility that Bigfoot and other cryptids are indigenous to Earth and may be a different lineage of human. He suggests that these creatures have the ability to modulate space-time and manipulate electromagnetic energy, which explains the strange phenomena often associated with their presence. Hein also mentions the research conducted by Russian scientists on Bigfoot and other hominoids, highlighting their more extensive knowledge in this field. He concludes by emphasizing the need to consider these phenomena as interconnected and to approach them with an open mind. Takeaways Simeon Hein's interest in paranormal topics began with a UFO sighting he had as a child. Remote viewing served as a gateway for Hein to explore other paranormal phenomena such as clairvoyance and telepathy. There is a need to study and understand these phenomena, which are often stigmatized and ridiculed. Open discussion and disclosure are important for a better understanding of the universe and the potential benefits it can bring. Bureaucracies can become self-reinforcing and dysfunctional, leading to inefficiency and a waste of resources. Bigfoot is often associated with orbs, ball lightning, and other paranormal phenomena. There is evidence to suggest that Bigfoot may be an interdimensional creature or a form of coherent matter. Witness accounts and Native American folklore provide insights into the possible abilities and interactions of Bigfoot. The existence of classified military projects and defense contractors filing patents for paranormal phenomena suggests that there is scientific interest and research in these areas. Bigfoot and other cryptids may be indigenous to Earth and part of a different lineage of human. These creatures have the ability to modulate space-time and manipulate electromagnetic energy, which explains the strange phenomena associated with their presence. Russian scientists have conducted extensive research on Bigfoot and other hominoids. It is important to consider these phenomena as interconnected and approach them with an open mind. Sound Bites "We live in a mysterious universe. We really don't know where we are and what we have some sense of these phenomena because the patterns behind them repeat." "We live in a better world when we're openly talking about it. Not just on this podcast. I want to see this on all our news stations without making fun of the witnesses." "We are having a process and there are congresspeople and senators who know what's going on, at least regard to UFOs, who are pretty serious about us finding out." --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/generation-x-paranormal/message

Also, Jamaal Bowman gets a slap on the wrist for pulling a fire alarm on Capitol Hill. But now that we have the full video of the incident we can see for sure that his story is a lie. And the American Academy of Pediatrics has been hit with a major lawsuit by a detransitioner. Is the flood gate finally opening? We'll talk about all of that and more today on the Matt Walsh Show.
