We are having raw and candid conversations that you need to be having. Conversations that will improve your life:
When you hear the word “codependent,” you might think of the traditional enabler framework involving a hapless victim and their selfless rescuer. Psychotherapist and boundary expert Terri Cole certainly did. However after years in her therapy practice, she realized that many of her clients were presenting codependent behaviours that fell outside of the classic model. Terri calls this new paradigm “high-functioning codependency” (HFC). The ironic truth with high-functioning codependency is that the more capable you are, the more your behaviour doesn't seem codependent. “As HFCs, our desire to feel at peace often drives us to chronic over-functioning and overinvestment with the loved ones in our lives,” says Terri. “Even with those we don't love… or sometimes with folks we barely know.” Here, Terri breaks down the characteristics of high-functioning co-dependency?including how to identify one's “HFC blueprint”?so you can get more clarity around what's going on under the surface of your behaviour and take steps toward better boundaries, self-care, and integrity. You'll walk away with a clear understanding of how you relate to others and the world… with a newfound inner peace. With the teachings and tools in Too Much, now you can break the cycle of overdoing and over-giving and start living a more authentic and joyful life. Dr. Nicole's philosophy is consistent with a nationally general movement called 'Sex Positivity'. We're so used to hearing about the risks and dangers associated with sex yet there are so many diverse and wonderful things to celebrate! Sex positivity encourages safety but also highlights sexual pleasure. It embraces LGBTQI+ identities and issues. It rejects shame and stigma and it acknowledges that our sexuality feeds into the very essence of our self-identity and happiness. Beyond this, however, I have found that to be truly sex-positive, sex education must be empowering. It has to be collaborative, NOT authoritative to promote trust and a free exchange of ideas. Doctor Tari is a clinical psychologist and relationship expert. Her passion is helping people elevate themselves internally so they can access elevated relationships and partners. She is passionate about this work because of her own rocky journey to love and self-love. For years she did her best in relationships but always ended up exhausted, heartbroken, and confused. It wasn't until she discovered the secrets to personal alignment and healing that everything changed. She found that before we have self-awareness and the tools to shift our beliefs, self-view and old templates and roles, we continue to be attracted to people who can't love us and spend our time trying to get or keep love that is unattainable. Dr. Tari knows that complete and total transformation is possible because of her own personal transformation as well as witnessing thousands of these transformations in her clients in her role as a psychologist. She is committed to helping others with their own transformation so they can access and keep healthy, joyful loving relationships. www.drtarimack.com Instagram: @drtarimack

Like most men, you've felt alone for a long time – even when surrounded by people. No matter how much money you make, how healthy your body is, whether you're single or have the family of your dreams, your mental stress and (secret) inner struggles persist. You endlessly search for what you never seem to find: FREEDOM. Freedom from what? Stress. Stagnation. Self-doubt. Self-sabotage. Feeling isolated and alone. A consistently nourishing, thriving intimacy may elude you. You may feel disconnected from your deepest purpose. Even when you get your way, it never fully satisfies. According to Bryan and his extensive work in this field, men tend to be ruled over by five primary distractions: work, ass, addiction (alcohol/drugs/porn, etc.), sports, and war/politics. Thus, our joy and vitality are inevitably drained by the daily whims of external forces we have little control. We fail to be present for what really matters and don't know how to use our power in ways we otherwise would have real agency. So even when we outwardly succeed, we feel internally dissatisfied and endlessly disoriented. While there is no hierarchy of loss, the death of a partner is among the most profound losses. The death of the adult you love the most is an especially cruel experience. I know this now: I have been widowed at 47. Mike's death was sudden and unforeseen, and the psychological impact is taking a while for me to understand – and I imagine I haven't even scratched the surface–It was something I could never have fathomed being prepared for. While grief is not a mental health issue in the same way as depression or anxiety, it is a profound psychological wound; one of the most bleakly transformative events a human being can experience and one we need to understand better. Grief education should be part of our national curriculum, but it isn't. The loss of your partner is one you cannot hide from psychologically or practically. Humans are programmed to be in couples. They are all around you – and you are single. Your status suddenly changes from two to one – in the most mundane ways, which are hard to articulate. I feel existentially alone despite being loving family and friends. For those of us fortunate enough to afford therapy, it becomes possible to share this feeling. But even with my multiple therapists and therapist friends and mentors, I have a lot of fear around boring friends, my family, my listeners, and my followers as the grief forges ahead, dragging everyone along in its wake as I share my experience openly about losing the love of my life. Ongoing relationship distress is harmful to each romantic partner's mental and physical wellbeing, and in addition, can negatively impact the kids. We all know this. Difficult conflict can lead to things being said that hurt us at our core. The growing emotional distance can leave us feeling like we are stranded on a boat in the middle of an ocean—desperate for connection, safety, and security. The lack of commitment and trust perpetuates toxic interactions that push us farther away from each other rather than building a bridge back to one another. Fortunately, empirically-based couples therapy has demonstrated that couples therapy can create a positive change for 70% of couples. And these changes actually last. Sarah's new book: LIVE, LAUGH, TRUE LOVE: A Step-By-Step Guide to Dating and Finding a Meaningful Relationship from a Divorce Attorney, is written from the perspective of a divorce attorney, essentially working backwards. Delineating all of the things she routinely watches go wrong in relationships. Sarah shows the reader the pitfalls to avoid and termed the 6 main reasons relationships fall apart the Fail Factors or F-Words. They are: 1) Fundamental Values, 2) Fear, 3) Foundation, 4) Fairy Tale, 5) Family and 6) Fixing. Raised by a mother who has practiced Family Law for almost thirty years, and still practices, Sarah feels as though she has been exposed to the issues Family Law practitioners encounter on a daily basis, her entire life. Sarah has also been a yoga instructor since 2000, and a spin instructor since 2004. She continues to teach. Sarah incorporates her experience as an instructor into her lawyering style. Teaching has enabled Sarah to maintain calm even under the most rigorous of pressures. It has provided her with the invaluable opportunity to command the respect and attention of any group of individuals she addresses, and it is her nurturing nature that gravitated her, both, to teaching and to the practice of, specifically, Family Law. Co-founding a finch company that would revolutionize the divorce sector was not what Catherine Shanahan and Karen Chellew, set out in life intending to do, but their experience, skillls and life events turned out to leave them perfectly placed to set up this business together. Catherine was a financial planner, who went through a painful divorce, and vowed to help women understand their marital estate, so they did not get taken advantage of at such a vulnerable time in their lives. As part of this bigger purpose, she took on further training to become a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst. She quickly realized that the problems with the divorce industry were much bigger than just financial awareness. She started to understand that there were systemic issues throughout the entire divorce process Catherine had the expertise to tackle the financial element of the problem. Still, she needed someone with experience with the legal process of divorce who would share her perspective and join her mission. Fortunately, around this time, a colleague introduced her to Karen, knowing that Karen also had a passion for helping empower women through her nonprofit. Catherine also learned that Karen had extensive professional experience as a paralegal and law firm business manager – and, like Catherine, she'd been through a divorce herself, and her experiences had convinced her that the system needed reform. With aligned incentives and joint commitment, Divorce U Solutions and My Divorce Solution was born in January 2016. Catherine and Karen believe divorce doesn't need to be a contentious, expensive legal battle so created My Divorce Solution so families don't have to experience divorce alone, afraid, and uninformed. They help divorcing couples have a clear picture of their full marital estate. This means they can understand the long-term consequences of the choices they make when dividing money to reach the best outcome for themselves and their family. FREE DIVORCE CHECKLIST.
