Today's episode is a little change up! You are going to hear a conversation Natalie had with ecommerce consultant, Jason Shepherd. Natalie had the ability to be a guest on his podcast The Real Heroes of Ecommerce and discusses what it means to be a conscious consumer. All of us here at Love the Green Life have different levels of conscious consumerism. We are pretty careful about the things we purchase and buy and as a 100% women owned nonprofit organization, almost all of us as women are the main buyers of stuff for our homes. We hope to debunk some myths as to what a conscious consumer looks like and is portrayed and hope to push your ideal consumer view. Conscious consumers are the consumers of the future. We are the people who are going to be making the decisions that drive the commerce in our country. We need to vote with what we put in our grocery carts. Hopefully you will gain some insight from this episode. Head over to Jason's podcast, The Real Heroes of Ecommerce on instagram @therealheroesofecommerce and take a listen! Today we chat with Diana Nicholson, our board vice president. Diana is the owner of a local vegan bakery, home gardener and supporter of encouraging others on their green journey. I (Jess) have known Diana a good portion of our lives and it is so cool to see the journey we have both taken to get here together today. I personally am honored to have her as part of the organization, a friend and colleague. She really has so much to teach and to offer and I am looking forward to all of that here with Love the Green Life. Diana's family transitioned to a vegan lifestyle almost 6 years ago. They started for health reasons but then learned more about the ethical aspect. They are raising 3 kids (16, 8 and 2) and are excited to help produce the next generation of "green" individuals. Because of the kids Diana founded “Kind-cakes”, a vegan bakery out of Cuyahoga Falls. Her drive for doing so was that she didn't want them left out at birthday parties or school functions. She also wanted to show that these celebrations can still be enjoyed with vegan ingredients. Most of her favorite memories involved making or eating food. In 2017, Krista made the lifestyle decision to give up eating meat for health reasons, and has never felt better. Since then, she has looked at cooking and the meals she used to love in another light, as well as eating new and exciting foods.
