As winter blankets the world in its lack of warmth and light, the color GREEN becomes a beacon of hope and renewal. Whether in the steadfast leaves of evergreens or the faint buds of new growth, green reminds us of God's promise of life even in the darkest seasons. Even when we fail to sense forgiveness, goodness, or salvation, God assures us of His abiding presence and the life we find in Him through Jesus Christ. Resting in the promise of God's grace and abundant life, we journey together through this Advent season.

Host Joseph R. DeMare talks about the temperature anomaly graph that shows we've crossed the 2 degree centigrade line, probably meaning the end of our civilization. He also talks about the misguided policies of the Citizens' Climate Lobby which are endorsed by the American Petroleum Institute. Having Exxon sending people checks will not slow carbon use. Next he interviews Austrian author Verena Mer Mer about differences and similarities between US and Austrian environmental policies and attitudes. Rebecca Wood then tells us about the supersized North American Wood Bison. Environmental News includes more Fukushima dumping, changes to the USDA's plant hardiness map, and Greenpeace's establishment of radiological monitors all over Ukraine. Saveecobot.com gives everyone real time measurements of radiation, so when the next Chernobyl happens, we will know.

Todd Sack, M.D., without hesitancy, speaks to the needed but daunting challenge of changing individual CO2 footprints, age and generational differences, real and specific ideas on what to do that do require self-discipline and commitment, that ‘green' can save money, the critical ‘ballot box climate change', that positive undertakings and adjustments are occurring but perhaps not fast enough, to make it a non-partisan opportunity because we all live on the planet, of resiliency, etc.

Today's episode is a little change up! You are going to hear a conversation Natalie had with ecommerce consultant, Jason Shepherd. Natalie had the ability to be a guest on his podcast The Real Heroes of Ecommerce and discusses what it means to be a conscious consumer. All of us here at Love the Green Life have different levels of conscious consumerism. We are pretty careful about the things we purchase and buy and as a 100% women owned nonprofit organization, almost all of us as women are the main buyers of stuff for our homes. We hope to debunk some myths as to what a conscious consumer looks like and is portrayed and hope to push your ideal consumer view. Conscious consumers are the consumers of the future. We are the people who are going to be making the decisions that drive the commerce in our country. We need to vote with what we put in our grocery carts. Hopefully you will gain some insight from this episode. Head over to Jason's podcast, The Real Heroes of Ecommerce on instagram @therealheroesofecommerce and take a listen! We talk to our newest team member, Heather today! Heather is our new treasurer for Love the Green Life, the non profit we run! Heather has so much knowledge, joy and excitement to share with us. If you are someone who needs help reading a label, Heather is an expert at this. She is our unofficial label-ologist. She is going to drop some of the top ingredients for you to watch out for as you are looking for better products for yourself or family and friends. She is an educator and holds a teaching license and she is an avid researcher of the chemical compounds and ingredient names that you see on the products you buy and use. She is going to help us decipher that language and tell us about some ingredients to look out for and why. You are going to love hearing from Heather and we are so blessed to have her as part of our team now! Heather is a wife and mother to a couple of energetic boys who constantly keep her on her toes. She became interested in living a “greener” life her senior year of high school when she was educated on human trafficking and its role in the production of products. She began casually looking for more sustainable products and ethically sourced ingredients until 2017 when she was pregnant with her first son. She then began looking for alternatives to conventional medicine and began swapping all their personal care and cleaning products out for toxin free options. She now has her own Facebook group and Instagram where she is having a blast using her creativity and research skills to educate others on risks of conventional ingredients and what better options are out there. Hey, Green Junkie! The other day I posted this quote on Instagram. “Don't feel guilty when you forget your bags or coffee mug or water bottle or buy something fast fashion.” In my attempt to help my community feel less guilty about not being perfect in their sustainable lifestyles, I hit a nerve. I got messages and comments that were appalled at my message and couldn't believe I wouldn't WANT people to feel guilt or shame about not making green choices all the time. They couldn't believe I wouldn't want to use guilt as a motivator to make people take action. And sorry, not sorry, this is just NOT how I operate. I've been on both sides of this issue and I truly don't believe that guilt or shame is an effective tool or motivator for change. It just causes harm. So in today's episode I wanted to address this and share my side of the story and encourage you to give up the guilt and shame and be green without all the guilt. In this episode we will discuss, The comments that sparked this episodeWhat research says about guiltHow to live a green lifestyle without all the guilt and shameYou'll discover that and so much more in this episode.By the end of this episode, Green Junkie, you'll be able to confidently live more green without the fear of failure. None of us are perfect, embrace and celebrate what you can do and leave the rest. If you love this podcast be sure to leave a review and share a screenshot of this episode to your IG stories. Today we chat with Diana Nicholson, our board vice president. Diana is the owner of a local vegan bakery, home gardener and supporter of encouraging others on their green journey. I (Jess) have known Diana a good portion of our lives and it is so cool to see the journey we have both taken to get here together today. I personally am honored to have her as part of the organization, a friend and colleague. She really has so much to teach and to offer and I am looking forward to all of that here with Love the Green Life. Diana's family transitioned to a vegan lifestyle almost 6 years ago. They started for health reasons but then learned more about the ethical aspect. They are raising 3 kids (16, 8 and 2) and are excited to help produce the next generation of "green" individuals. Because of the kids Diana founded “Kind-cakes”, a vegan bakery out of Cuyahoga Falls. Her drive for doing so was that she didn't want them left out at birthday parties or school functions. She also wanted to show that these celebrations can still be enjoyed with vegan ingredients. Today we sit down with our board president for Love the Green Life, Krista Taylor. She is a full time customer service representative, a part-time dance teacher, a wife, a fur-mama, but most of all she runs on plant power. Food and cooking has always played a huge part of her life whether it was spending hours in the kitchen with either of her grandmothers or mother learning how to cook their amazing recipes from scratch or sitting around a table with her big family enjoying holiday meals together. Most of her favorite memories involved making or eating food. In 2017, Krista made the lifestyle decision to give up eating meat for health reasons, and has never felt better. Since then, she has looked at cooking and the meals she used to love in another light, as well as eating new and exciting foods. She loves sharing her cooking with others as her family always has and excited to share some exciting dishes with everyone. Krista has shared some of her favorite recipes in the past on our Virtual Summits. Today we're going to be talking to Mike Crosby, veteran, CEO, and cancer survivor. In this episode, we're going to look at leaders who've taken on their own survival as an access to leading others and making a difference. It's a powerful conversation. You can find his bio in the description and on our website. Please stay tuned after the guest discussion for skill highlights. www.AmplifyVoices.io About our guest: CDR Crosby is the founder and CEO of Veterans Prostate Cancer Awareness (VPCa). The 501(c)3 non-profit organization was formed in 2016 when Crosby recognized a need to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer incidence among Veterans and improve education and assistance to those diagnosed with the disease. VPCa was formed to educate Veterans and Active-Duty military populations on the need to screen for prostate cancer, provide resources to aid men in their treatment decisions, and promote the newest technology for the treatment and cure of prostate cancer. There are over 500,000 Veterans in the national Veterans Healthcare Administration (VHA) and over 16,000 of those men dealing with a metastatic form of the disease. With over 15,000 new diagnosis each year the need to educate men on how to screen for the disease is a critical undertaking. Crosby is also the CEO of Green Life Can Corp, a Canadian Holding company, with investments in innovative 100% biodegradable plant-based chemicals that provide better performance and safer solutions than existing hazardous industrial chemical products. Green Life also owns Revitalize Energy Inc. a junior oil and gas company, implementing the bio-based technologies in the production and cleanup of petroleum. Crosby graduated from the US Naval Academy in 1983 and after earning his wings as a Naval Aviator served on active duty in the United States Navy from 1983 to September 1997. During his active service, he was assigned to VF-101, VF-41, VX-4, and VF-142. He then transitioned to the US Navy Reserves and was assigned to VF-301 in San Diego until 1999 when he was selected as Commanding Officer of Mobile Operations Command Center Western Pacific, based at Pt. Mugu, CA. In 2002, because of the events of 9/11, CDR Crosby was recalled to active duty in the Naval Reserves and assigned to U.S. Central Command where he served as the Chief of Counter Proliferation and directed operations in support of “Operation Iraqi Freedom.” Because of his efforts, CDR Crosby was awarded the “Joint Force Commendation” medal for organizing and leading a multi-national team in conducting counter-proliferation operations. Upon his departure from active duty in 2004, Crosby formed Aria International Holding Inc. and immediately deployed back to Iraq in support of the US Marine Corps. Aria recruited a group of international experts providing specialized engineering and surveillance infrastructure solutions. During operations in Iraq, Crosby led Aria's further expansion through similar offerings to clients such as the United Arab Emirates Air Force, Kuwait Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Interior of India, and the Royal Thai Army. Aria was responsible for designing and managing the construction of defensive security structures around air bases and along many sections of borders for clients. Crosby holds a Master of Science in Systems Management from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Annapolis, MD where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Applied Science. He is a graduate of the US Navy Fighter Weapons School “TOPGUN” in San Diego, California, as well as the Allied Air Forces Central Europe “Tactical Leadership Program” in Germany.
