It's everyone's favorite style episode. Catch up with us after the holidays and new years goal setting! We spent a LOT of time together over the holidays and even ended up doing a whole bunch of our friends enneagrams at a birthday party. It was so fun to get deep and really get to know our friends on another level. We talk about new years goal setting, we talk about LET THEM! Which I am sure this won't be the last time we mention it, and we choose our own billboards!
We are loving learning from our friends journey's. Michelle is a bit older than us and has DONE the research. Literally. She's a smarty pants academic who read up on all of the choices she made about taking HRT. She sits down with us today to talk about what she's using and how it's made her feel. We're still trying to figure out where we will go, and where we stand with this. But we love bringing you along for the adventure of asking questions, getting curious, and thriving.

When we meet with new clients we get to hear their stories of conception, and often are saddened by the experiences of people with infertility, PCOS, and endometriosis. We KNOW not enough research is done on women's health, and we see first hand how that affects all of us. We need to demand better. We need to make change. But we all need to understand from a young age that we WILL have to advocate for our own health. Find a better doctor. Demand the tests you want. Learn your cycle, and understand nutrition. Build a team of holistic experts to reach out to and lean on for health care support. Andrea is a Dietician, and a Holistic Nutritionist. She is a wealth of information about how important it is to manage your stress, sleep, and gut health to help regulate your hormones. Your hormones affect EVERYTHING. And if your stress, sleep and gut are off, your hormones are wonky, and you will get symptoms. Some are big, some are small, but some are life altering. Take your health into your own hands, and start to understand how your body functions optimally.

You may have seen the articles, the TikTok's, the instagram reels... but here's the long form story from Seanna (who is a doula who works with us). I first hand knew about Kaitlyn because Seanna was texting me as a mentor through the entire labour. It was a rollercoaster, but everything honestly made sense... until the obvious end. Since then she has scammed over 40 doulas, likely more... virtually, and in person, as well as lied to family, friends, and more. Listen to the whole story as Seanna and I reflect and also talk about some of the silver linings, and what Seanna learned through the whole situation as a new doula. We are Lara, and Sarah. Today I interview my friend, artist, creator, and amazing mom, Joti Wall. She is a wealth of birth confidence and shares her three birth stories and her transformation throughout the process. From an emergency cesarean, to a hospital vbac, to a home birth (almost... but listen to hear the story)... she describes birth in such an eloquent way. Empowered birth is not the same as unmedicated, a cesarean can leave you empowered when you make the decisions from an informed and consenting place. Today we talk about the new book Lara is reading called "The Mountain is You" and we discuss if "fine is the new rock bottom" and what that even means. Given that our podcast is called Radically Thriving, its interesting that on reflection, I am afraid to actually thrive because I don't want to feel spoiled or look like my life is SOOOO good, for fear of judgement from others. What I know from Gabby Bernstein is our judgements of others are our judgements of ourselves, so clearly these thought patterns exist in my life where people can't have TOO much success or happiness. I don't know where that comes from, but I am diving deep into it starting with this conversation. We are Lara, and Sarah. We are the hosts of Radically Thriving. She would like to see access to pelvic physical therapy become normalized throughout the lifecycle for all people, and especially in the postpartum time. Improving egg quality in pre-conception: The pathway to conception begins long before we conceive. This is because it takes roughly three months for an egg to mature within the ovary leading up to ovulation. For those planning to conceive, there is an opportunity to influence egg quality in the 3 months prior to ovulation. Some ways to support egg quality include making simple but supportive diet and lifestyle changes. In the pre-conception time, consuming animal-based protein (including eggs, muscle and organ meats, organic raw or A2 dairy), reducing processed foods and sugars and other known inflammatory sources like polyunsaturated fats (like canola oil), and alcohol. Pre- conception lifestyle changes include include reducing stress, supporting your nervous system health, and prioritizing quality sleep. Trading in high intensity exercise like HIIT workouts for a more moderate alternative should also be considered since vigorous exercise is a stressor to the body. Additional supplements may also be considered and are best used on a individual basis. I always suggest working with a care provider who specializes in supporting pre- conception and conception like an acupuncturist or naturopath. This is probably our favourite episode ever. What a JUICY way to start off 2023. We are not designed to be in isolation, and the bridge to connection is through intimacy, with ourselves, and others. We talk about the freedom of saying no, and being respected. We talk about sex, connection, community and what is involved at a Solstice party. This is one of our FAVOURITE episodes ever. Wow. Megan is a writer and it shows! In this podcast we talk all about her cesarean and the parts that upon reflection, she wishes had gone differently. Megan reads us her blog, and it is SO POWERFUL, Sarah has tears in her eyes. The reality is, we just don't hear women talk assertively and clearly, and man, we need it!! Megan wants cesareans done differently - she hopes some nurses and OBs will hear this podcast. She wants women to not give up and to speak up about what they want in their births. As a recovering people pleaser, Megan is learning about being sweet and quiet leads to pain.

We asked our community about having a village, and we heard from some people who didn't feel like they had one. In this episode we talk about what a village means, and how do you build one. We get a little hash in this episode, and don't mean to cause offence. Just a rolling conversation about what it means to us, and how we think everyone can have a village. We are Lara, and Sarah.
