Arun and Patricia discuss about the 2026 live action film Masters of the Universe based on the 1983 animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. Taken place in the world of Eternia, a timid boy named Prince Adam was tasked of protecting The Sword of Power and heading to Earth for safety after an evil sorcerer named Skeletor threatens to conquer everything and stealing the sword to make him more powerful. However, he lost the sword and was stuck on Earth for 15 years living a mundane life. One day, someone found the sword and Adam retrieves it. Immediately afterwards, his childhood friend Teela from Eternia returns him home only to learn that Skeletor has taken over everything. When the film premiered in theaters, it received mixed reviews from critics and fans. It was a box office bomb making $102 million dollars out of a $200 million dollar budget and is currently 68% on Rotten Tomatoes. What did Arun and Patricia think of the film?

Bello, bello bello bello e ancora bello!Per un instancabile e inguaribile nostalgico come il vostro CaRfa, era praticamente un miracolo che, ancora una volta, He Man e i Dominatori dell'Universo vedessero la luce in una nuova trasposizione cinematografica, dopo il mio assoluto guilty pleasure del 1987 con Dolph Lundgren.Il Principe Adam ed i suoi amici devono combattere le forze del malvagio Skeletor per impedirgli di impossessarsi della Spada del Potere e carpire i segreti del Castello di Grayskull e dominare così su tutta Eternia.Azione pazzesca, umorismo, ambientazioni fatte bene ed effetti visivi di qualità, per un film che pur non essendo esente da difetti, mi ha divertito tantissimo e riempito il cuore di gioia. Sicuramente è un film per i fan e allora? Va benissimo così. Uno splendido giocattolone vintage che fa ciò che deve e riporta alla vita il CaRfa bambino, che ha ancora voglia di giocare con He Man, Man at Arms, Teela, Skeletor, Spikor, Evil Lyn, Beast Man, Battle Cat, Ram Man e tutti gli altri eroi della mia infanzia!

Achja, He-Man… euch Jungspunden sagt das vielleicht jetzt ziemlich wenig, aber für mich als Kind der 80er Jahre war das damals das Actionspielzeug schlechthin. Und so ist es auch nur zu logisch, dass sich Mattell irgendwann dachte: “Och, daraus können wir auch eigentlich nen Film machen.” Nur problematisch, wenn man relativ wenig Budget zur Verfügung stellt und sich mit der chaotischsten Produktionsbuzze in ganz Hollywood einlässt. Die verlegen, um Geld zu sparen, das Geschehen kurzerhand vom fantastischen Planeten Eternia in das USA ihrer Zeit. Genau dort landen die Heroen He-Man, Teela und Duncan nämlich gemeinsam mit dem Schlüsselmeister Gwyldor, nachdem der böse Skeletor Schloss Grayskull eingenommen hat und die Zauberin in seiner Gefangenschaft hält. Um das Böse zu besiegen und Eternia zu retten brauchen unsere Helden einen kosmischen Schlüssel, der allerdings den Teenagern Julie und Kevin in die Hände fällt. Und das Böse ruht natürlich auch nicht. Skeletor weiß mittlerweile, wo sich seine Feinde und der Schlüssel befinden und schickt seine eigene Monsterschar los, um den Planeten Erde ordentlich aufzuwühlen. Masters of the Universe aus dem Jahr 1987, eine Fish out of Water Geschichte, die relativ wenig mit der ursprünglichen Spielzeug- oder Zeichentrickserie gemein hat. Entsprechend negativ fielen die Kritiken damals wie heute aus. Und wisst ihr was? Ich versuche, euch und Johannes heute davon zu überzeugen, warum die alle Unrecht haben. Aber first things first. In this episode of Casual Chats, Arun and Patricia discuss about the 1987 live action film Masters of the Universe based on the 1983 animated series He-Man and the Masters of the Universe animated and produced by Filmation based on the toys. In the planet Eternia, He-Man, Man of Arms, Teela, and a new character named Gwildor are fighting the evil minions of Skeletor to prevent him from taking over Castle Grayskull. Gwildor's invention, the Cosmic Key, is able to travel to different dimensions across the galaxies. Skeletor sends his soldiers to capture them to retrieve the device, but Gwildor uses it for them to escape to another planet in another dimension: Earth. Meanwhile, a teenage girl and her boyfriend get caught in the fight of He-Man and Skeletor finding the Cosmic Key.When the film premiered in theaters, it made $17 million dollars out of $22 million dollar budget with negative reviews from critics calling it a Star Wars and Conan the Barbarian ripoff with He-Man plastered on it. Over the years, it has gained a cult following for its campy humor and offbeat depictions of He-Man and Skeletor. What did Arun and Patricia think of this film?
