Hidden Killers With Tony Brueski | True Crime News & Commentary
She testified in one of the most significant criminal trials in American history. She pointed at Richard Speck and said "This is the man." Then Corazon Amurao went home to the Philippines, married, had children, and turned down every interview, every book deal, and every media request for the rest of her life.On the night of July 13, 1966, Speck entered a Chicago townhouse and killed eight student nurses over five hours. Corazon survived by rolling under a bed and staying motionless until morning. She is reportedly alive, in her eighties, still private. This episode of Surviving Serial Killers starts with the women — their names, their plans, the weddings they were scheduling and the careers they were starting — before it tells you what happened to them. Because the world remembers Richard Speck. Corazon made sure the world would never forget her silence.Join Our SubStack For AD-FREE ADVANCE EPISODES & EXTRAS!: https://hiddenkillers.substack.com/ Want to comment and watch this podcast as a video? Surrounded by conflicts and controversy, there can be a lot of pressure to speak, whether you're a Christian in a workplace or a pastor speaking to a congregation. The Bible encourages both holding the tongue and the courage to be bold with the truth. It takes wisdom to discern the moment and when God is asking us to speak and when he is asking us to remain silent. In this week's episode, we're exploring the question of how leaders can cultivate the discernment to steward their voice in a noisy and chaotic culture. Pastor Jim offers some practical advice for finding a way forward.

Episode Summary What do you do when you discover something that could harm patients—and the system doesn't want to hear it? In this powerful episode, Dr. Amy Vertrees sits down with renowned breast surgeon Dr. Beth Dupree to discuss her extraordinary journey after identifying multiple missed breast cancer diagnoses within a healthcare system. After discovering what initially appeared to be a single missed cancer, Dr. Dupree followed established quality and reporting pathways only to uncover a much larger pattern. What followed was years of advocacy, resistance, investigation, personal sacrifice, and ultimately transformation. The conversation explores not only healthcare accountability but also physician resilience, moral injury, leadership, healing, and the courage required to continue speaking up when the personal cost becomes significant. About Dr. Beth Dupree Beth Dupree is a nationally recognized breast surgeon, educator, author, and pioneer in integrative breast cancer care. Over her career she: Built nationally recognized breast programs Trained breast surgical oncology fellows Led quality and safety initiatives Developed innovative survivorship programs Authored multiple books on healing and survivorship Became a national voice for patient-centered cancer care Key Topics Discussed Following the Evidence Dr. Dupree shares how a routine consultation led her to discover a missed breast cancer diagnosis that had been visible on imaging for years. Rather than dismissing concerns, she followed the data and pursued further investigation. Key lesson: Sometimes the first problem you find is only the beginning. When the System Pushes Back The episode explores what happens when: quality concerns are raised physicians challenge established processes institutional interests conflict with transparency Dr. Dupree discusses navigating: internal quality reviews hospital administration external reviewers medical boards media investigations The Emotional Cost of Advocacy One of the most powerful sections of the conversation centers on the personal impact of advocacy. Topics include: moral injury professional isolation burnout PTSD physician identity Dr. Dupree describes what it feels like to know something is wrong while feeling unable to protect patients in the way she believed they deserved. Courage Versus Comfort A central theme emerges throughout the discussion: Doing the right thing does not guarantee an easy outcome. The conversation explores: professional courage integrity under pressure speaking up despite consequences choosing values over comfort Healing the Healer The latter part of the episode shifts toward recovery and transformation. Dr. Dupree shares her journey through: trauma recovery integrative medicine survivorship care psychedelic-assisted therapy education vagal nerve regulation innovative approaches to healing The discussion examines how physicians can learn to care for themselves while continuing to care deeply for patients. The Future of Medicine Dr. Dupree challenges surgeons to think beyond traditional treatment models and remain open to innovation. Topics include: survivorship care whole-person healing bioelectric medicine mental health support quality of life after treatment Memorable Quotes "Being right about something in a health system is not always the easy path." "You cannot work in a system where you are not respected, heard, and valued." "The truth sets people free." "Bless the thing that breaks you down and cracks you wide open." "Personal courage is what changes medicine." "Sometimes the greatest gift comes from the hardest experience." Key Takeaways ✅ Patient advocacy sometimes requires personal courage ✅ Following proper channels does not always guarantee action ✅ Moral injury can have profound effects on physicians ✅ Healing matters for doctors as much as patients ✅ Innovation often begins by listening deeply ✅ Integrity is often tested when the stakes are highest ✅ The experiences that challenge us most can transform our careers Who Should Listen Surgeons Physicians in leadership Residents and fellows Quality and safety leaders Healthcare administrators Physicians experiencing moral injury Anyone interested in healthcare culture and patient advocacy Connect with Dr. Beth Dupree Social Media: @drbethdupree Author of The Healing Consciousness Contributing author in Women in Surgery Speaker, educator, and advocate for integrative cancer care
Send me a DM here (it doesn't let me respond), OR email me: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.comToday I'm so honored to introduce you all to: Masonic Ritual Abuse Victim, Survivor and now Whistleblower for the first time, intuitive empath, entrepreneur, public speaker and improv comedian, biofeedback facilitator and educator, clean farming and nature lover, and an incredible hero coming forward to advocate for whistleblower and survivor protection and safety and to do everything in her power to facilitate the change she wishes to see in the world: Allison AdamsA little bit about Allison and what we will be discussing today: An outsider by choice and circumstance, Allison had already walked a remarkable path long before tragedy sought her out. Diagnosed with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy as a child, Allison was not defined by her condition - she mastered it. For 45 years, this practice became her anchor: a disciplined dance of food, sleep, mindfulness, and inner sovereignty. It wasn't just medicine. It was her superpower. Her days were filled with simple joys - gym friendships, hiking through the woods, lunch dates, and the deep sharing that comes with genuine connection. She befriended a woman at the gym, and never imagining that warmth and trust would be weaponized against her. For two years, she was stalked and targeted by those who used personal details against her. Then, in April 2020, came the unthinkable. On the patio of an acquaintance, she was drugged - believed to be with at least four different substances - and plunged into ten missing hours. What followed was a nightmare of ritualistic horror: terror, violation, strangulation, and hazing at the hands of a sophisticated network.Yet here is where Allison's light refused to be extinguished.Even in that drugged state, her decades of biofeedback training awakened. While her body appeared unconscious, her mind remained hyper-aware - an observer in the storm. In the months and years that followed, she patiently gathered fragments: clues, memories, internal knowing. Piece by piece, she reconstructed her truth. A woman who had spent her life managing epilepsy with grace turned that same mastery toward survival and healing. She refused to let the trauma erase her. Instead, she transformed it into purpose. She stands today as living proof that the human spirit, when anchored in practiced awareness and unyielding courage, can transcend even the most depraved evil. In a world quick to silence victims, Allison chose the opposite: she chose to speak. Her voice rises not just for herself, but powerfully for the children - the ones drugged with memory-erasing substances, who have no reference point, no adult resilience, no framework to understand the violation. That compassion, that fierce maternal fire for the innocent, reveals the true depth of her character.Allison's story is a rallying cry. She is still in danger. She knows the risks of going public. She has watched whistleblowers step forward only to be targeted and silenced. Yet she will not be deterred. She is demanding accountability from her community. She is calling for safety nets - shelter, support, protection - for those brave enough to expose darkness. Her message is clear and urgent: “Do what you can - but do something.”Allison embodies the rarest kind of heroism: the quiet, relentless kind. The kind that turns personal hell into collective awakening. She reminds us that survival is not merely enduring—it is rising, speaking, organizing, and loving the vulnerable more fiercely because you know what it costs. She is proof that even after the worst humanity can offer, one woman rooted in decades of inner discipline can become a force for justice and healing.CONNECT WITH ALLISON: Donate on Buy Me a Coffee: https://buymeacoffee.com/allison1776X: https://x.com/AdamsAllis94140CONNECT WITH EMMA:YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@imaginationpodcastofficialRumble: https://rumble.com/c/TheImaginationPodcastEMAIL: imagineabetterworld2020@gmail.com OR standbysurvivors@protonmail.comMy Substack: https://emmakatherine.substack.com/BUY ME A COFFEE: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/theimaginationVENMO: @emmapreneurCASHAPP: $EmmaKatherine1204All links: https://direct.me/theimaginationpodcastSupport the show
In this episode of the Tactical Living Podcast, hosts Coach Ashlie Walton and Sergeant Clint Walton talk about something that does not get said directly enough in law enforcement and emergency services: sometimes the environment you work inside of is part of what is making you struggle (Amazon Affiliate). Not the calls. Not the danger. Not the public. The culture inside the walls of your own department. The unwritten rules about who you are supposed to be, how you are supposed to handle things, and what happens when you do not fall in line. This episode takes an honest look at how toxic department culture develops, what it does to the people inside it, and how to protect yourself when the place that is supposed to have your back becomes part of the weight you are carrying.

We'll talk about why he believes it's impossible to separate the two, how the Trump administration is showing up in the sports world today, and how athletes respond when they're told to “shut up and dribble.”Then we'll hear from an athlete who's made a name for himself by speaking out. And I think part of the way that leaders who are effective do this is they referenced the fact that they were talking to their employees."Traditional leadership used to mean staying neutral, but, not anymore.Today's leaders are expected to speak on political and social issues—and most aren't prepared for it.In this episode of the Personalization Outbreak Podcast, Matt Kohut — communications strategist and author of Speaking Out — joins Glenn Llopis to explain:

Welcome back to the Crystal Library
Mary Hope McQuiston grew up learning not to make waves, not to get emotional, not to rock the boat. Those lessons followed her into the boardroom. When a male colleague made a sexist comment during a high-stakes presentation, she said nothing. She couldn't even bring herself to tell her husband that night. The shame of her own silence was that heavy. That moment became the turning point. Today, Mary Hope is VP and General Manager of Autodesk's Education Business, a business she helped scale from 5 million to over 235 million users. She's learned not just to speak up for herself, but to build teams and accountability systems where silence doesn't get to win. In this episode, she gets specific about how. You'll learn: The societal conditioning that trains women to suppress their voice, and the values-based trigger that finally broke through it How to hold cross-functional peers accountable when they nod along but never follow through, and the system that actually works Why she fired a trusted high-performing manager not for misconduct, but for failing to surface a toxic situation in his team, and what that decision cost her What a "listening tour" looks like when you're the one who needs to hear, not speak . The Billie Jean King moment she watched at age 6 that became her earliest model for speaking up when the stakes are real If you've ever stayed quiet and paid for it later or led a team where silence was quietly doing damage this episode is your playbook. About Mary Hope McQuiston: VP and General Manager of Autodesk's Education Business, Mary Hope co-founded Autodesk's consumer and 3D printing business in 2010 and helped scale its user base from 5 million to over 235 million users in four years. You're not being kind by staying silent. You're avoiding a critical part of your job as a leader. If you've been watching someone on your team struggle, missing deadlines, having a bad attitude, not showing up, and you haven't said a word, this episode is for you. Most new managers avoid hard conversations because it feels like the compassionate thing to do. Give them another chance. Wait and see. But here's the truth: silence doesn't protect your employee. It just delays the damage — and makes you responsible for it. In this episode, Jen shares a personal story of being blindsided by feedback her boss had been sitting on for months. She breaks down exactly why new leaders avoid these conversations (hint: it's not kindness — it's fear wearing a disguise). In this episode, Bradley Hamner sits down with Megan Reitz, researcher, speaker, and author focused on dialogue in organizations. Megan shares insights from years of studying why people speak up, why they stay silent, and how leaders influence both through the way they show up.They explore how leadership presence affects team communication, why most leaders overestimate their listening skills, and how everyday signals can either invite ideas or shut them down. Megan also explains how habits, attention, and curiosity shape whether meaningful conversations actually happen inside organizations. This conversation looks at what prevents honest dialogue and how leaders can create space for it. How do you encourage feedback without intimidating your team? What signals are you sending in meetings? And how do you address the “elephant in the room” before silence turns into resentment? If you want to improve how your team communicates, invite better feedback, and create an environment where people feel safe to speak up, this conversation is for you.Visit https://workshop.blueprintos.com to register for the upcoming Above The Business workshop.Learn more about Megan Reitz: https://www.meganreitz.comConnect with Megan Reitz on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/meganreitz/Check out her latest book – Speak Out, Listen Up: https://a.co/d/090esprLThanks to our sponsorsCoach P ConsultingCoach P found great success as an insurance agent and agency owner, leading a large and stable team of top-performing professionals. Not every leadership failure begins with a dramatic mistake. Sometimes it begins with a sentence that isn't said. In Episode #684, The Pressure to Stay Silent, we return to Bradley & Co. Solutions and follow Rachel Kim and Sam Gutierrez as subtle organizational pressure reshapes leadership from the inside. What begins as reasonable restraint slowly becomes softened language, delayed clarity, and careful edits that feel responsible—but leave an unsettled conscience. The supply-chain irregularities Sam identified are still present. Nothing has crossed official thresholds. No crisis demands action. On paper, the system is holding. But Rachel senses something deeper: holding is not the same as healthy. In meetings, she raises concerns—carefully. Leadership acknowledges them—politely. Monitoring replaces momentum. Over time, phrasing shifts. What was once "concerning" becomes "unlikely." What was "worth watching" becomes background noise. No one tells Rachel to soften her tone. She does it instinctively. Not to deceive, but to avoid escalation. And that is where the erosion begins. This episode explores a tension every leader eventually faces: when does restraint reflect wisdom—and when does it quietly become accommodation? Through this leadership story, we examine five lessons about leadership silence: Silence often begins as caution, not rebellion. Language softens before conviction disappears. Monitoring can slowly become avoidance. Culture is shaped not only by what leaders say—but by what they stop saying. Erosion happens incrementally, one careful edit at a time. We also reflect on Scripture's warnings about delayed obedience. Jeremiah faced pressure to soften his message. James reminds us that knowing the good we ought to do—and not doing it—carries its own cost. Silence is rarely neutral. It either protects discernment or erodes conviction. If you've ever felt the quiet pressure to say less than you believe, this episode will help you examine whether your restraint is clarifying wisdom—or reshaping your leadership from the inside.
Palm Sunday is full of celebration, noise, and public praise, but this message asks a sharper question: what happens when followers of Jesus go quiet? Pastor Vicki Harrison walks through Luke 19:37-40 and shows how the joy of Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem confronts the silence that often shapes our witness today. This message is both convicting and hopeful. It invites us to notice the places where fear, embarrassment, or cultural pressure have made us quiet, and to respond with renewed courage, praise, and obedience. The Carey Nieuwhof Leadership Podcast: Lead Like Never Before
The cultural moment we're in isn't just tense — it's a full convulsion, and it's landing in your church every Sunday. In this emergency panel episode, Ed Stetzer, Adam Mesa, and Sharon Hodde Miller debate when to speak up, when to be silent, how to deal with fallout, and how to pastor people in a deeply divided age. This is the conversation many pastors are desperate to have but afraid to start.
Eighteen thousand tips. But someone out there still hasn't called.A neighbor who saw something. A coworker who's noticed something off. A family member protecting someone. A friend who heard something and told themselves it was nothing. The tip that breaks the Nancy Guthrie case is probably sitting in someone's head right now — and they haven't made the call.Former FBI Special Agent Robin Dreeke spent his career getting people to talk. He served as Chief of the Bureau's Counterintelligence Behavioral Analysis Program. He recruited spies. He built trust with people who had every reason to stay silent. He knows why people hold back — and what finally opens them up.In this interview, Dreeke breaks down witness psychology. The different reasons people don't call. The person who doesn't realize what they know is important. The person scared of the spotlight. The person protecting someone they love. Each barrier is different. Each requires a different approach. What makes someone finally break their silence? What tips the scale from protection to confession? How do investigators reach the person who has information but hasn't connected it to this case?Dreeke speaks directly to whoever's out there with a piece of this puzzle. In every generation, God raises up shepherds who are willing to speak the truth—even when it costs them. In this Shepherds in the Storm episode, I'm joined by my friend Pastor Phil Hopper, lead pastor of Abundant Life Church, to talk about why the church was never meant to be silent. We unpack the fear keeping pastors quiet, why today's biggest issues are biblical—not political—and why courage in the pulpit matters more than ever. If you're a pastor, church leader, or believer longing for clarity and conviction in a confusing culture, this conversation will encourage you.Prime Sponsor: No matter where you live, visit the Functional Medical Institute online today to connect with Drs Mark and Michele Sherwood.
