Hi there, and welcome back to another episode. Today’s episode is a really personal one. It started with a moment I didn’t expect. One that was emotional, beautiful, and deeply reflective all at once. It happened this morning as I said goodbye to my son - heading off on his very first solo business trip. And in that moment, I found myself reflecting not just on his journey, but on my own. I realised I was witnessing something powerful. The result of years of dreaming, trusting, and continuing even when I wasn’t sure. So in today’s episode, I want to share that reflection with you. Because what came up for me is something I have seen over and over again, both in my own life and through coaching women around the world. Here’s what you’ll take away from this episode: Why getting truly clear on what you want changes everything What it really means to do the work, even when it’s not easy The powerful role your environment plays in shaping your future This episode is a gentle but honest reminder that your dream life is not something that happens by chance. It’s something you choose and create. If you've been feeling stuck, unsure, or like you are capable of more, I think this conversation might be exactly what you need right now. So take a moment for yourself and come and listen. There is something here for you. As always, I’d LOVE to hear what resonated most with you - so please share and let’s keep the conversation going in the Dream Life Podcast Facebook Group here. What if the key to thriving in today's fast-paced world has been around for thousands of years? In this episode of The Greatness Machine, Darius Mirshahzadeh connects with ninth-generation doctor of Eastern medicine Dr. Jenelle Kim to explore the ancient principles behind modern wellness, longevity, and true inner balance. Dr. Jenelle shares the deeply personal story behind her book, “The Korean Art of Living Well: The Eight Keys of Living Meditation for Balance and Transformation,” a work inspired by her lineage and her father's legacy. Rooted in 10,000-year-old Daoist traditions, she introduces the three pillars of optimal living: medicine, movement, and mindset. The conversation dives into how modern life creates stagnation, mentally, physically, and spiritually, and how simple practices like breathwork, grounding, and even laughter can restore flow. Your phone isn't the enemy, but unfiltered messages can slowly pull your attention and affection away from Christ if you're not discerning. He'll break down what it really means to “test the spirits” and offer three practical ways to do it: examine what's being said about Jesus, look for real evidence of life change, and notice whether someone submits to Scripture or resists it. Today’s episode is one I’ve been so excited to share with you. I sat down with neuroscientist, author and speaker TJ Power, and we explored something that feels both incredibly simple… and completely life changing. What if feeling better didn’t require a big life overhaul? What if the key to more motivation, calm, connection and happiness is already inside you… just waiting to be activated? In this conversation, we dive into what TJ calls The Dose Effect – understanding the four key brain chemicals that shape how you feel every single day, and how small, intentional habits can completely transform your life. What I love about TJ’s work is that it comes from lived experience. He’s not just teaching this – he’s lived it, struggled with it, and found a way through it. And that makes his insights even more powerful. If you’ve ever felt overwhelmed, distracted, or just not quite yourself… this episode will give you practical, simple tools to start shifting that today. Take a walk, grab a journal, or simply sit and listen… this one might just change how you live your everyday life. Join my workshop - How to stop feeling rushed, and finally feel ahead of your life. To help figure out this answer, I talked to Arthur Brooks, the #1 New York Times bestselling author and Harvard professor, about this new book: The Meaning of Your Life: Finding Purpose in an Age of Emptiness. In our conversation, Brooks argues that our current Age of Emptiness began in the 1990s, but technology like smartphones and social media made it worse. This is one of those conversations that will truly stay with you. A few years ago, I wrote my book Your Dream Life Starts Here, and one of my biggest dreams has always been to inspire as many people as possible to write down their dreams and go after them. It still really touches me when people say, "you're probably sick of hearing this, but you book changed my life." So when I recently came across a beautiful story on LinkedIn from someone who said my book had helped her create her dream life, I was touched and curious. That someone is Nienke, and what she's done is incredible. She didn’t just dream. She made it happen. In this episode, we talk about what it really takes to move from dreaming to doing. We talk about courage, taking small steps, and saying yes even when it feels uncomfortable. Four key takeaways: Why writing your dreams down is more powerful than you think How small, brave actions can completely change your life Why stepping outside your comfort zone is where the magic happens How to create a life that gives you both freedom and meaning If you have a dream sitting quietly in your heart, this episode is for you. Because your dream is not random. It's there for a reason. So take a moment, get comfortable, and let this conversation inspire you to take that first step. As always, I’d LOVE to hear what resonated most with you - so please share and let’s keep the conversation going in the Dream Life Podcast Facebook Group here. The real issue is not time management; it's self-awareness management. Just as you're saying: how do we manage our awareness? In essence, that is our sādhana. It goes back to that little mantra that I use for myself: "What's the best investment of my attention right now?" Anyway, it's another slide; I won't go too much further, but yes, to answer your question, it's really to know where to put our awareness—where to point it. The first thing is to become aware. This is congruent with Judson Brewer's writings in psychology; he talks about how, before you can get out of a habit loop, the first step is awareness. You have to be aware that you're in one; otherwise, you don't come out of it. It's like with a movie: sometimes you don't even know you're watching a movie until somebody turns on the lights. Or you might not even know you're scrolling until, all of a sudden, the internet goes out and there's nothing there, and then you go, "Oh my God, where was I?" So, the first thing is awareness management. We have to know that we are aware. It's also about: where are we placing our awareness at any given moment. Yes, we should have a hierarchy of investments and understand, 'Where's the best investment of my awareness?' We should manage our awareness—so that's practice. One way that we can come into this sense of the importance of managing our awareness in the next slide is the 'Lotus Drop,' and that is...(0:46:30) ------------------------------------------------------------ To connect with His Grace Vaiśeṣika Dāsa, please visit https://www.fanthespark.com/next-steps/ask-vaisesika-dasa/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://vaisesikadasayatra.blogspot.com/ ------------------------------------------------------------ Add to your wisdom literature collection: https://iskconsv.com/book-store/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://www.bbtacademic.com/books/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 https://thefourquestionsbook.com/?utm_source=youtube&utm_medium=video&utm_campaign=launch2025 ------------------------------------------------------------ Join us live on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/FanTheSpark/ Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/sound-bhakti/id1132423868 For the latest videos, subscribe https://www.youtube.com/@FanTheSpark For the latest in SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/fan-the-spark ------------------------------------------------------------ #successsadhana #spiritualawakening #soul #spiritualexperience #spiritualpurposeoflife #spiritualgrowthlessons #secretsofspirituality #vaisesikaprabhu #vaisesikadasa #vaisesikaprabhulectures #spirituality #bhaktiyoga #krishna #spiritualpurposeoflife #krishnaspirituality #spiritualusachannel #whybhaktiisimportant #whyspiritualityisimportant #vaisesika #spiritualconnection #thepowerofspiritualstudy #selfrealization #spirituallectures #spiritualstudy #spiritualquestions #spiritualquestionsanswered #trendingspiritualtopics #fanthespark #spiritualpowerofmeditation #spiritualteachersonyoutube #spiritualhabits #spiritualclarity #bhagavadgita #srimadbhagavatam #spiritualbeings #kttvg #keepthetranscendentalvibrationgoing #spiritualpurpose

Don't Kill the Messenger with movie research expert Kevin Goetz
Send Kevin a Text MessageFilmmaker Ric Roman Waugh joins host Kevin Goetz for a conversation about his unconventional path from stuntman's son to one of Hollywood's most distinctive action directors. Waugh discusses growing up inside the stunt world, his mentors, and his mission to make commercial action films that also deliver an important message. During the conversation, he touches on his collaborations with Dwayne Johnson, Gerard Butler, and Jason Statham, and on films such as Felon, Snitch, Shot Caller, Angel Has Fallen, Greenland, and Shelter that have defined his brand of character-driven action movies.Working with Tony Scott and Jerry Bruckheimer (02:47): Waugh credits Tony Scott and Jerry Bruckheimer as the mentors who shaped his collaborative instinct…leaders who respected everyone on set, demanded the best, and inspired those around them.Growing Up in Stunts Unlimited (06:13): Waugh's father, Fred Waugh, was a founding member of Stunts Unlimited, the legendary stunt group led by Hal Needham. Ric grew up on sets and, to his father's disappointment, was more dazzled by the stuntmen than the movie stars. In the Writers' Room (15:20): Before directing, Waugh spent years writing originals for producers like Mark Gordon, Neil Moritz, and Jerry Bruckheimer. He describes how this process taught him how Hollywood actually worked.Finding His Voice and Making Felon (17:54): Inspired by Sidney Lumet's socially-conscious entertainments, he researched the California prison system, became a volunteer parole agent, and made Felon on spec.Snitch and Dwayne Johnson (24:10): Working with Dwayne Johnson on Snitch was a pivotal experience for Waugh. Both men were at a crossroads in their careers, and this film helped clarify Waugh's mission: to use the commercial action films as a Trojan horse for social commentary. The Audience Is the Real Collaborator (29:56): Waugh reflects on his long working relationship with Kevin Goetz and the role of test screenings in his process. Waugh shares how he uses early and formal audience feedback to identify what isn't being communicated.Marketing in a Distracted World (46:10): Waugh and Goetz discuss the challenge of building audiences for original stories amid the declining effectiveness of traditional marketing. If you enjoyed this episode, please leave us a review and share it with a fellow film lover. In a world that moves quickly, it's easy to live at a pace that leaves our hearts hurried and distracted. In this episode, I'm sharing reflections from a slower season away and what the Lord has been teaching me about the pace of my days. It's easy to fill every quiet space with noise and constant input. But when I look at the life of Jesus, I see something different. I see presence. Unhurried conversations. Intentional time with people. Quiet moments in prayer. The pace of our days doesn't just affect our schedules. It affects our souls. We'll talk about how ordinary life is where God meets us, how our daily patterns shape our hearts, and how small, intentional choices help us reclaim presence in a distracted world. Looking at the example of Christ and the encouragement of Psalm 1, we'll be reminded that reclaiming ordinary life doesn't require dramatic changes. It begins with small steps of faithfulness right where God has placed us. Head over to ThankfulHomemaker.com for full show notes on all the links and resources mentioned in today's episode. In today's fast-paced world, finding focus can often feel like an impossible feat. Cody Cook-Parrott shared that when our attention is scattered due to overstimulation and technology addiction, we unintentionally lose a part of ourselves. Addressing this requires us to step away from shame, gently asking what we might be avoiding, and experimenting with practices that reclaim our attention through small, intentional changes. Through Cody's insights, we learn that being present starts with small actions—whether it's logging out of social media, turning off your phone for a few hours, or taking conscious walks. Such practices help center us, improve our health, and revitalize our ability to show up in our lives. As I work towards intentional living, I invite everyone to explore these practices and experience the profound benefits of being fully embodied and present. What does it actually look like to follow Jesus in everyday life?In this message from our If/Then series through Ephesians, we turn to the second half of Paul's letter—where belief turns into practice. Using the image of a “masterclass,” we explore how Paul invites followers of Jesus to learn Christ: to put off old patterns shaped by power, status, and exploitation, and to put on a new way of being marked by humility, gentleness, patience, and love. This teaching wrestles honestly with cultural pressure, sexual ethics, speech, and formation—while holding out a hopeful vision of transformation. Paul's call is not about moralism, but about waking up to the light of Christ and learning to live as people who reflect that light in the world.
Why do so many marriages and families drift apart—even when there's still love?In Episode 104 of High Performance Parenting, Greg and Jacquie Francis unpack the real reasons connection fades over time. From simple ignorance, to misplaced priorities, to misunderstanding emotional capacity, they explain why families don't disconnect overnight—but slowly, unintentionally, and quietly. In this episode, you'll learn:Why connection is never neutral — it's either growing or shrinkingHow “being busy” masks deeper relationship issuesWhy financial provision alone doesn't create emotional closenessHow misunderstanding capacity damages marriage and parentingWhy connection must be fought for in today's distracted worldThis conversation is honest, faith-centered, and deeply practical for parents who want stronger marriages and deeper connection with their kids.
What do you do when life feels overwhelming, temptation feels constant, and direction feels unclear? In this message, we explore how Jesus overcame the wilderness—not with willpower, hype, or shortcuts, but with the Word of God. This sermon unpacks discipleship as a blueprint, not just a belief—showing how dependence on God, daily obedience, and spiritual discipline lead to real transformation. From navigating temptation and distraction to finding clarity, purpose, and peace, this message invites you to move beyond surface-level faith into a life anchored in God's truth. If you're tired of being spiritually busy but inwardly stuck, this message is for you.
In this episode, I talk about the biggest opportunities in a world that is distracted and scattered. I noticed at the park that most people are physically there but mentally somewhere else, glued to their phones. Presence and awareness are now rare, and that makes them extremely valuable. When everyone else is distracted, the person who can stay fully present stands out. The opportunity belongs to those who can focus while the rest of the world checks out. Show Notes: [02:35]#1 Understand that presence, when you have it creates safety, trust and authority. [10:55]#2 Distraction has trained you to miss details. [15:58]#3 Proximity is not participation. Description:What if the most faithful thing we could do right now is simply pay attention? In this episode of For the Love, Jen and Amy sit down with theologian, ethics professor, and artist Lee C. Camp for a soulful conversation about the kind of faith that wakes us up to what truly matters. As part of our Wake Up Call series on faith, Lee invites us to slow down and notice the world—our lives, our neighbors, and the beauty that keeps trying to reach us. Together, they explore why paying attention is not a luxury but a spiritual practice—and how our obsession with productivity, planning, and certainty can cause us to miss the most beautiful and formative parts of our lives. Lee reflects on what it means to know ourselves as deeply beloved by God, not because of what we produce but because love is the starting point of a life well lived. This conversation traces the threads of human flourishing and imagination, and asks why beauty—found in art, nature, poetry, and story—often teaches us more about God than arguments ever could. As he often does on his own No Small Endeavor podcast, Lee challenges us to consider what Christians are being called to wake up to in this season: a renewed attention to community, to creation, and to a church that is something we practice together, not merely something we attend. If you're longing for a faith that feels grounded, spacious, and alive—one that helps you live a good life in the world you actually inhabit—this episode is a gentle, necessary wake-up call. Thought-provoking Quotes: “What Christianity most needs right now is to rediscover the basics of the beautiful story which we claim to believe.” – Lee C. Camp The model of the cross means that if we take up our cross and follow Christ, that we can expect difficulty because so much of human history doesn't want that kind of way. Religious powers don't want that. Imperialist powers don't want that. And so we can trust that we're going to have our own kind of crosses to bear along the way. And yet that life has triumphed over death. That love has triumphed over hatred. that beauty and truth and goodness has triumphed over hostility and ugliness and meanness. And so that's the big story.” – Lee C. Camp I deeply understand why a lot of people just can't believe all this [religious] stuff. But for me, it, the story at its best. is so beautiful that I don't know why everybody doesn't want to believe it, even if they can't believe it. The new year can bring the hope of a fresh start… or the dread of more of the same. In this first episode of the year, Dan Allender and Rachael Clinton Chen name what many of us are already feeling: life feels heavy, noisy, and hard to keep up with. They talk about the "stone in the shoe" of modern life—how distraction, overwhelm, and unresolved trauma slowly wear us down—and share practical ways to respond. That might look like stepping back from constant media, creating gentle daily rhythms of prayer, worship, and Scripture, or using journaling and writing to slow your thoughts and reconnect with what matters most. At the heart of the conversation is a simple but challenging invitation: to stay awake to suffering without losing hope, and to let love, humility, and courage shape how we live. Reflecting on Romans 12, we're invited to resist chaos and despair and instead lean into the kind of formation that only comes from following Jesus. This episode is about 40 minutes long. After listening, consider taking a few extra minutes (maybe even more than a few) to reflect on how you want to enter the new year: more grounded, more aware, and more spiritually centered. As Dan says in closing, "It would be great if it's a happy new Year… but may it be one in which our lives are more formed in Jesus." ===== You can find transcripts, show notes, and more for each episode at: theallendercenter.org/podcast To become a supporter of the Allender Center Podcast, visit: https://theallendercenter.org/2025/11/podcast-support/
Beautiful soul, this episode is for anyone feeling mentally scattered, emotionally tired, or disconnected from their intuition. Julie is joined by Zelana Montminy for a grounded, compassionate conversation about focus not as productivity or discipline, but as presence, nervous system safety, and spiritual alignment. Together, they explore how constant stimulation, digital overload, and cultural pressure pull us away from our inner knowing, and why slowing down is often the fastest way back to clarity. This episode gently reframes rest as spiritual medicine, focus as a gateway to intuition, and boundaries as acts of self-trust. It's especially supportive for mothers, caregivers, entrepreneurs, and anyone navigating burnout, ADHD, hormonal shifts, or major life transitions. In this episode of Partnering Leadership, Selena Rezvani invites leaders to rethink some of the most deeply ingrained assumptions about modern management. Drawing from her new book Quick Leadership and years of work with top-performing organizations, Selena challenges CEOs and senior leaders to examine the hidden forces shaping their teams' behavior—especially the unspoken power dynamics that still drive command-and-control cultures even when leaders insist they've moved past them. Her insights land squarely in the real world: where expectations are rising, trust is fragile, and employees—especially Gen Z—expect to be led very differently than generations before them.Selena begins with a powerful personal story that shaped her mission: reducing unnecessary suffering at work. From there, she unpacks how overwork culture became a badge of honor in many organizations, and why leaders who continue to glorify exhaustion will struggle to build sustainable, innovative teams. More importantly, she explains what leaders can celebrate instead—and how to shift the “hero stories” that quietly define organizational norms.A major throughline in the conversation is psychological safety, but not in abstract terms. Selena offers practical, high-signal markers leaders can use to assess whether their teams truly feel safe speaking up: signs in the spoken, unspoken, and silent moments of meetings. She also challenges leaders to examine how they may unintentionally shut down dissent, even while believing they are approachable and open. The episode also dives into modern leadership skill sets—filtering urgency rather than amplifying it, protecting teams from noise, resisting meeting overload, and embracing “selective excellence” instead of perfectionism. Selena offers pragmatic tools leaders can use immediately, from rethinking meeting dynamics to redesigning feedback routines that are informal, frequent, and genuinely useful. The conversation closes with one of the most important themes for today's executive teams: the disproportionate impact managers have on employees' mental health. Selena brings data and perspective that will push leaders to rethink their weekly rhythms, their one-on-one structures, and their responsibility to the people they lead.Actionable TakeawaysYou'll learn why today's “hero stories” inside organizations matter—and how changing them shifts what people believe earns respect, promotion, and recognition.Hear how Gen Z's participatory mindset is reshaping expectations for leadership, communication, and power-sharing inside modern teams. You'll understand the subtle power dynamics leaders often overlook—and the specific behaviors that signal whether dissent is truly welcome.Hear Selena explain how to spot the real indicators of psychological safety in meetings, including what to look for in silence, hesitation, or discomfort. You'll learn practical ways leaders can counter urgency culture by acting as a “filter,” not an amplifier, and why this dramatically improves team performance.Hear how to rethink meetings using a simple question: “Is this worth pulling people away from their strategic work?”—and what great leaders do in the first five minutes to change the tone. You'll learn why “selective excellence” is a competitive advantage for leaders—and how to decide what deserves your very best and what doesn't.Hear Selena describe how to build a feedback culture Connect with Mahan Tavakoli: Mahan Tavakoli Website Mahan Tavakoli on LinkedIn Partnering Leadership Website
